They do nothing.... but if Israel cuts off electricity to Gaza the world immediately rages and foams at the mouth in anger demanding UN action. The hypocrites will have their day.

Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (08.14.11)
was gonna foot the bill for a military base there in Latakia? If so, how irresponsible for the media to suggest that urban renewal and governmental development is an assault on the civil population! (sarcasm off)

Dont be uttterly ridiculous, the international community is perfectly willing and entitled to the vagriocity of the failed EU laws reached at the Draconian SummitBattylicker in Oslo recently. That you cannot or will not dilute this into your fistybeliefs is your problem!!
5. what a lovely day...
Marcelo ,   Berlin / DE   (08.14.11)
what a lovely day, isn't it? I mean, the sun went out, summer, and...oh, yeah, some lunatics in an unimportant arab country kill each other...but, who cares? they are arabs, muslims. They kill all day, sisters, theirself, nothing new...but, the EU is really dissapointed that some houses are going to be built in Jerusalem, Israe, a major problem indeed, since mostly arabs are getting paid instead of being shot...how can you not laugth at what is happening in syria while the rest of the world just shut up? next time a protest goes againt Isral, some nice pictures of syrian deads should be remembered...
6. HOW LONG
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.14.11)
As posts #1 & #2 have pointed out the laughable double standard of the world. Which essentially does very little when it's Arab vs Arab, or Muslim vs Muslim violence. Only Israel fighting for survival seems to bother them. This will benefit Israel...an inadvertent consequence of the "Arab Spring"...if Israel should find itself in another War of self defense. The UN, Arab League, AI, HRC have all lost what little credibility they thought they had. Now, all revealed to be just another of the many bias groups against Israel. I wonder how long the Assad family can afford to finance this war? Now Syria does have about $6-$7 Million per day coming in from Oil sales. But if the paychecks ever stop for the army and police so will the support for the Assad family. As I write this, all the Western powers are probably trying to talk Assad's Generals into defecting, promising them freedom, immunity and money. So he has that to worry about too. So Assad has maybe 6 months to get this under control, then he may have money issues. The only way is through brutal violence. Now with Iran wanting to build a military base there we all can see why they are helping Assad. But if Iran could hook up with the opposition...I admit I don't understand the internal politics of that...I simply have not heard that much about the opposition. Would Iran sell out Assad? What do you think?
7. Must be those Iranian 'peacekeepers'
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.14.11)
That Iran wanted to send to the occupied city of Londinium. They sure know how to keep the peace. By the way Syria doesn't have any battleships. The only country in the world with any and those are in museums is the US.
8. Obama must be off playing golf or basketball somewhere.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.14.11)
Otherwise he'd be making a brief statement about how Assad should "step down".

Go syrian navy-damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead
10. the only thing that will stop Assad is military action
zionist forever   (08.14.11)
Question though is who is going to carry it out. Turkey have agreed to join a coalition but not go it alone. The Europeans don't have the capability and between Afghanistan and Libya NATO is overstretched and don't have the capability to pick another fight. The US has the firepower but Obama won't like the idea of the US going it alone with just Turkey for company especially when the target is an arab state. There are still US troops in Iraq which could come under attack on orders from Assad. Iran could stir things up in Afghanistan. Assad might try and get Hezbollah to provoke Israel into Lebanon 3 and the very last thing Obama needs is to be carrying out military action on Israel's doorstep at a time when Israel is fighting a war. As he is in the middle of an election campaign Obama may feel pressured into helping Israel which would be disasterous for the US. In 1991 the western powers needed to form a coalition with arab states to justify invading an arab state even ( Iraq even though it was to liberate an arab state from an invasion ) and I can't see any of them forming military coalitions with the US and Turkey isn't an arab state so its support alone isn't enough. For now at least all we are going to see is sanctions and western demands they are not willing to back up through actions. So far Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Turkey are the only countries to pull out their ambassadors to Syria so shows where western priorities lie and until the west is willing to start dropping bombs Assad will continue to kill people

I mean, every time I see a photo of this Bashar Assad dude, I can't help but crack up laughing - he just reminds me of an Owl. I see his photo, and I imagine him going "Oooooh. Oooh! Oooooooohh!" like an Owl.
15. Another fine day in the religion of peace
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (08.15.11)
Arabs know how to kill each other so well. I'm beginning to think that this is all they know.
16. Notice
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.15.11)
Not one single leftist comment all day. But if we should plan to build a single home in Jerusalem they come out of the woodwork like the locust they are. I am surprised that they aren't claiming that they are really Israeli warships instead.

Polysyllabic but not not English. A random word generator would have done this better; at least all of the words would have been, well, words.
