1. Hurray for the Iron Dumb
Eliezer ,   jerusalem   (08.19.11)
it intercepted 2 out of 8, 25% accuracy, wow, that is great except for the other 6 or mere 75% that got by.
2. Time for Cast Lead II.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.19.11)
But this time, we finish the job.
3. And, while the rockets continue to fall, let us note that...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.19.11)
...the purpose, is, and has been since 1920 - long before Israel was proclaimed, long before "occupation", "settlements", "Gaza" - to perpetuate the war-of-attrition-through-terror against the Jewish population of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel) with the hope of decimating any trace of Jewish presence in the Jewish people's homeland. No wonder, the Hamas-PLO Union objects to accepting Israel's right to be, to exist on any parcel of land between the River and the Sea as the nation-state of the Jewish people. No wonder the Hamas-PLO Union objects to accept a peace treaty that states that this is the end of the conflict and the end of all future demands. They simply don't want to see the end of conflict...!! ...and the organization that is responsible to preserve peace in the world, the UN, is about to hand over to them a "state", a present for this type of behavior for the past many decades... What a cynical world...!!
4. The IDF - a total failure
NoRespect   (08.19.11)
Refusing to defend Israel, refusing to strike pre-emptively, refusing to bomb the mosques where the Mohammedan murder/molest/maim sandniggers are hiding - a total total failure. You CANNOT respect a nation that refuses to understand such a simple matter as that you have to kill your enemy BEFORE they kill you. There is NO excuse and NO respect.
5. #!-Iron Dome only launches if the
Stephen in New York   (08.19.11)
incoming rocket is expected to land in an inhabited area. The failure to intercept the rocket that injured 2 in Ashdod is the only failure this time around, the other 5 rockets landed in uninhabited areas.
6. What is the primary function of government?
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.19.11)
Answer: To provide security for it's citizens at all costs. Talk about ''restraint'' or ''proportionate response'' is an excuse for inaction. On the contrary, a proportionate response is an incentive to further aggression. Aggression in any form must have serious (preferably fatal) consequences. We are not the victims of terrorism, we are the victims of our own inaction. Concessions, be it ''land for peace'' or any other meaningless slogan, only lead to more aggression. Appeasement does not work. We are not the ones who should be scurrying for shelter - we should make sure that it's our enemies that scurry for shelter.
7. And the answer by IDF is again...
mindRider ,   The Free World   (08.19.11)
.. to bomb some empty buildings or deserted tunnels, wasting expensive rockets and bombs instead of taking the entire Hamas leadership out without first warning them to disperse and go into hiding.
8. Destroy ALL the tunnels, Then Cast Lead 2
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.19.11)
9. to #5
Eyal ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
There are only 2 Iron Dome batteries at the moment. one in Ashqelon and the other in Beer Sheba, so Ashdod won't be protected from incoming rockets.
10. #4 No Respect.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.19.11)
It's a failure of leadership, the IDF has been politicized, it's become just another crappy Israeli bureaucracy where promotions are made on the basis of ''correct'' political opinions. The bureaucratic mentality cannot win wars. We are obsessed with political correctness - insane rules of engagement, the frankly bizarre idea of ''purity of arms'' & a whole host of other nonsense. You don't fight wars with lawyers looking over your shoulder. What we have is a bad case of bureaucratic intertia.
11. Palestinians target Israeli civilians: NGOs silent
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.19.11)
More proof that B'Tselem, ACRI, and other organizations have nothing to do with "human rights". These NGOs, heavily funded by the EU and foreign donors, are nothing more than pro-Arab or anti-Israel lobbying groups. More proof that these groups do indeed need to be externally audited to find out where their money is coming from, who is getting the fat salaries, and why these groups fail to do what they are supposed to do - support universal human rights instead of only Arab human rights.
12. Rocket hits Ashdod
Ave ,   Ft. Lauderdale, USA   (08.19.11)
Eliezer, The system is in its infancy, unfortunately. But, isn't it true that the only rockets targeted are the ones that the system determines will actually hit a critical target as opposed to an open field?
13. Bomb ALL of Gaza
Shalom ,   Ashdod, IL   (08.19.11)
Just convert it into a giant parking field. Leave no two stones standing on each other since this is the ONLY language that Arabs understand (if you do not believe me then ask Gaddafi or Assad). Let us hope that these two enjoy long lives so they can continue destroying their people and make it easier for Israel
14. At No. 1 Eliezer
Vlad   (08.19.11)
Most rockets the Iron Dome let go because they landed in open fields. But think about it, virtually all rockets heading to population centers have been intercepted. This is the second or so injury sustained after the deployment of the Iron Dome, the other being a Bedouin woman in an open field. No fatalities or serious damage, and the residents of Ashkelon and Sderot can feel more at ease.
15. Why dont we hit those targets when we find them?
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.19.11)
Why do we have to wait to be hurt before we destroy the source of the rockets? But at least we are hitting back, and hopefully we are doing it HARD.
16. and nary a word from
Julie ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
our traitorous, well-paid, living-in-high-style, always- first- to- whine, woos- and- complain..... arab MK's
17. Prayers
Adam Neira ,   Melb, Australia   (08.19.11)
Prayers for those injured by these wicked rocket attacks. There must be total international condemnation of the launches. Cool heads must prevail now. All parties must not get sucked into the downwardly spiralling vortex of evil.
18. open an acount in any social network and defend israel
@@DO SOMETHING@@   (08.19.11)
tweet of the missles attack on israel on your witter! do something!!!!
19. The Tepid Response
Ron ,   OC, US   (08.19.11)
A tepid response to hamas terrorism will only result in more terror. If the IAF were to go after every economic target available in Gaza the rockets would stop falling. In the cruel math of hamas this was a glorious day. It is up to the IAF to turn this around-Immediately!
20. Our prayers and thoughts
meghan ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
for those who bear a loss of a loved one and for those in hospital, a speedy recovery, and to our IDF lads, on the ground on the sea and in the the air. We now wait for world condemnation, as usual, we will be the bad guys, defending our citizens, but I wouild think any country would strike back when attacked by another, and isnt this an atrack, rockets fired over boarders, seems to me a declaration of war and thus they must suffer the consequenses of that attacked country defending itself. Look at Syria and Lybia, and those governments are killing their own people and snub whatever any so called human rights orgs say....go figure!!!!
21. finish them all off while we're at it
sweet sue ,   jerusalem   (08.19.11)
22. This is Assad,Ahmadnazijad and Achtung Nasrallah.
Jack ,   london   (08.19.11)
That gang have now been cornered, mainly by the brave Syrian people,,and I am waiting for them to lash out,the only way they can divert attention.
23. Gazan arms manufacturing facilities
rom ,   israel   (08.19.11)
Every time after there is an attack from Gaza I read that the IDF retaliated by hitting arms manufacturing warehouses. Why do we have to wait for attacks to happen? The IDF should not wait but should obliterate such facilities just as soon as they are discovered - and it's obvious that they know where they are situated.
24. my heart goes out to israel
Amy ,   AZ, USA   (08.19.11)
25. Fatal terrorist attacks
Yoel ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
The time has come to take back the Gaza strip no mercy this time around.
26. why would anyone want to make aliyah to a country
(08.19.11)
that doesnt do anything to defend themselves or anyone else for that matter. i will never make aliyah there. NEVER
27. My sincere condolences to the people of Israel.
A Turkish friend   (08.19.11)
My prayers and good wishes to Israel. I condemn this cowardly attacks on civilians..even if our government has failed to condemn these atrocious attacks, as of yet. Shalom.
28. Hamas
Ralph ,   Caesarea   (08.19.11)
Israel should attack Gaza, exile all Hamas leaders and reinstall Gush Katif residents.
29. Gaza - the little country that wants to be a state
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.19.11)
The only thing the Gazans, et.al, are proving is that they belong in Syria with Assad or in Libya with Gaddafi. Curse those that makes Gaza a state.
30. What we witness is the perpetuation of the war-of-attrition-
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.19.11)
-through-terror that was initiated by the Muslim-Arab world - not by Christian-Arabs, not by Druze-Arabs - local and regional, in 1920 against the Jewish population of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel). This war commenced during the Nabi Mousah ceremonies in Jerusalem and orchestrated by the Mufti of the city, Haj, Amin al-Husseini. That was long before Israel was proclaimed, long before the "occupation", "settlements", "Gaza". One whose intent was then and has been ever since: the decimation of any Jewish existence in the Jewish homeland of the past 4,000 years... ...and the organization that is responsible to preserve peace in the world, the UN, is about to hand over to them a "state", a present for this type of behavior for the past many decades... What a cynical world...!!
