Iron Dome has pretty much a 100% success rate since it became operational. The system tracks the missile and if its expected to land in a populated area they fire and destroy the rocket but if its going to land in an open field somewhere then why spend $50,000 to destroy a rocket thats not going to kill anybody? The reason Ashdod was hit is because there are no Iron Dome batteries there yet one is in Ashkelon and I am not sure where the second one is but as far as I know every time they tried to kill a rocket it worked. Long term though we cannot rely on Iron Dome to be our great protector and the only solution is Cast Lead 2. Finish the mess Olmert left behind with his unconditional withdraw of troops before the IDF had finished and the only reason was the operation was taking place during an election campaign and everybody had put their campaigns on hold. Bibi was way ahead of Livni in the polls and she wanted to get in some serious campaigning so she convinced Olmert to agree to an unconditional end to the war and turned a victory into another defeat.

I would advise caution,as a response to these attacks, because they are a desperate attempt by Israels enemies to get the IDF to invade Gazza and the Sinai and there by start a full blown armed conflict,there by assisting Syria and Libya.I beleive if Israel is drawn into an armed rsponse,it would be to the detriment of her existence.Stay out of it keep safe and fit. This week the IDF is seriously considering allowing more weapons into Judea and Samaria for the Fatah Terrorist Army. The problem is not Egypt,Hamas,Fatah or Hezbollah but the present crop of quisling,appeasement and surrender driven leadership whose weak response today only aids and encourages Egypt and the the enemy. Hamas could have been taken care of long ago but the concept of defeating ones enemies has been lost to the shackled and restrained poodles in Jerusalem by their crafty,phony ally's false peace scheme.

Cast Lead I failed for two reasons. The first is that the DM was Ehud Barak. The second is that foreign-funded NGOs saved Hamas by threatenting legal action against the IDF and by fabricating stories to isolate Israel. For Cast Lead II to succeed, Ehud Barak should be replaced and the NGOs neutralized by exposing who pays them to lie.

I think that the facts show that disengagement from Gaza was a great idea. Let's repeat this success in Judea and Samaria.

Since 90% of my family lives in Ashdod...I tend to take these attacks very personally. I concur with you 1000%....Gaza should have been bombed into craters and it's population sent into exile or to Gehenom! It is up to the "peaceful" people of Gaza to overthrow Hamas, PLO, Fatah....If not, they are better off dead anyhow. Who would want to live under those conditions?
