4. More about Raphael Halperin
Dave Elie ,   Toronto Canada   (08.21.11)
I remember watching Raphael Halperin "free wrestle" (another name for the choreographed and televised so-called sport so big in N. America) live at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, sometime in the early 60's. At that time, he was making lecture rounds to all the major Jewish communities (including ours) to collect money for sport in Israel. As I recall, he was arrested in Denver for pocketing this money and I'm pretty sure that he spent time in prison there. The next time that I heard of Halperin was back in the late 70's where he was the body guard to criminal-cum-politician, Flatto-Sharon. And then, suddenly, his optical stores began to spring up like mushrooms after a rain storm. Opening an eyewear business for charity in Bnei Brak...I don't think so.
5. accusations

What's the story with the accusations that he abused his 1st wife?
6. Be careful with accusations
Darlene ,   Beer-Sheva , Israel   (08.22.11)
There is no reason to bring up possible wrongs in the far distant past of someone who has done much good in the last number of years and is no longer alive to defend himself. The good that people do should be recognized.
