Not to totally discount the value of Iron Dome, but this is no winning strategy. Iron Dome should not become an excuse for inaction. There are reasonable arguments for not invading Gaza at this time (there are equally reasonable arguments for such an invasion). In the meantime, our response has been disappointing, feeble. Without going into specifics, we should bomb the hell out of Gaza. This should not be ''business as usual'' - meaning a return to the status quo which leaves Hamas relatively unharmed. You only establish deterrence by being ruthless, when your enemy understands that you are unpredictable & unreasonable, that you will stop at nothing.

The Iron Dome is a good tool. But It is not defending good enough. We saw the last weekend how many rockets rained on Beer Sheva. Beside this: It is not good to work on the symptoms - the cause has to be defeted.

You are forgetting that Iron Dome can calculate and detect a missile that will not hit any city but will land in the open field. Iron dome does not intercept those missiles.

first off, ID only shoots down missiles that it detects are gonna hit within city limits. missiles that are aimed at open fields are ignored. secondly, it is likely that moving the system around from city to city too much in the last days had caused it to get de-synched withing these rules of Interception. I don't know the system by its core, but i assume that wherever you place it, you need to re-sync its internal map every time you move it, and it's probably why it glitched last night.
