1. First Torah Scroll in Israel Sub?
Dan ,   Karmiel Israel   (08.28.11)
Yasher Koach! However, I thought they previously had a Torah Scroll in Israeli subs. The submarine on display at the Naval Museum in Haifa has a small cabinet clearly labeled "Aron Kodesh."
2. As much as IDF spends on each sub, they could buy 1 for each

sub. I don't understand the need to have a rabbi with a high security classification to place it there, what is that all about?
3. the subs are a great place for haredi
zionist forever   (08.29.11)
Submarines are ideal enviroments for religious Jews because of its all male atmosphere atmosphere in which they will probably feel more comfortable than a mixed sex army base. Make submarines a more attractive place for the haredi to serve is more likely to get more of them into the military so these mini Torah scrolls are a great idea. It would also be nice if the IDF put mini scrolls on all of the 5 subs it will have by the end of the year. I really don't think that the IDF spending its own money on 4 scrolls will break the bank even with budget cuts.
4. cool, and lets hope more to come

Ilan Ramon took one to space with him, surely subs can have place allocated for Tora. Good news:)
5. Security clearance
Nachum ,   Jerusalem   (08.29.11)
Only people with high classifications are allowed on the submarines, so only a rabbi with that classification could do it. I suppose they don't want a regular soldier to just put it there the first time...
6. GET 25 MORE TORAH SCROLLS
LARRY ,   US ARMY RETIRED   (08.30.11)
