31. Lived through Jimmy Carter
Jim ,   Milton, USA   (08.24.11)
I thought President Carter was a bad president, but he is a good man, just inept. The one we got now is not only inept, but I think intentionally destroying my country, which he despises. I think this article is very accurate.
32. Bush, give Israel a hand
melissa ,   istanbul   (08.24.11)
If Angel of Peace Bush and fundemantalist Israeli goverment be together,Jesus really will come down from heaven.
33. At last
Joe ,   Seattle   (08.24.11)
Brilliant analysis, yet it comes too late
34. Too decent
The emes   (08.24.11)
You need ruthless geniuses to keep the world safe obama is probably too wholesome. Also the deep south and neonazi analogues hate him and have utterly sabotaged his modest social improvements . the arabs and jews are so polarized peace is and will be impossible for decades if ever ,No President has achieved even close the best you can achieve are lulls . All in all its great a thouroughly decent person relative to a very ruthless job got in even if its only four years.
35. I have finally figure out who Odumba is like
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.24.11)
He is just like another totally incompetent American president, but one who was much more popular while he screwed up the world - Eisenhower. Ike was the moron that said and did nothing when Hungary revolted against the Soviet Empire. He was the one that forced us to give back the Sinai the first time to Egypt for nothing. He was the man that dismantled the US military, aided the French in their occupation of Indochina, replaced the French with American involvement when the French left Indochina. Wrecked the American economy, etc. etc. Two morons.
36. #2, the ignorant person is you! i guess his brilliance blind
ralph   (08.24.11)
blinded you. i can not imagine any other excuse. can any one?
37. This article is laughable, inconsistent
Jason ,   Miami, USA   (08.24.11)
and completely ignorant of the facts. The Obama administration has not handled each of these issues perfectly and has certainly been inconsistent but this criticism is deplorable. Obama vocally supported the masses in Iran and has increased and broadened global sanctions. This policy appears to be working by destabilizing the country. What does Walt believe Obama should have done? Military intervention? Of course, not a single detail in this article. As to Egypt, the Obama administration weighed the developments over the initial 5 or so days and ultimately sided with the masses against a dictator, albeit a dictator who maintained peace with Israel. Walt characterizes this as aggressive intervention and chastises Obama's actions for potentially leading to the rise of an Islamic regime. Should Obama have supported Mubarak? With Military support to crush the opposition? As to Syria, it appears as though Assad's government will be toppled in due time. Should the US intervene in Syria with ground troops or air strikes? Is Walt concerned that toppling Assad (the devil we know) may lead to yet another islamic regime? Nope, he's only concerned with trashing Obama. And as to Bush, Walt conveniently forgets the Bush administration's support of elections in Gaza which resulted in wait, wait for it, Hamas governing the strip. Congratulating Bush for toppling the Taliban regime? Give me a break? You must be entirely detached from reality to claim Afghanistan is a success. And finally I really enjoy how Walt defends Bush's less than ideal intervervention in Iraq by claiming it was supremely moral act. Saddam certainly was a heinous dictator but so was Mubarak.
38. Run, Hide, Flee - The Sky is Falling
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (08.24.11)
Great hit piece, worthy of Orly Taitz or Glenn Beck. Walt should definitely be sure to relocate to a country safe from the likes of Americans. For those Israelis who really take this seriously, have Netanyahu break relations. Obviously Americans cannot be trusted to govern themselves.
39. Run, Hide, Flee - The Sky is Falling
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (08.24.11)
Reads like an Orly Taitz hit piece. Flee the MauMau anti-colonialist Americans cannot be trusted with self-governing. Loved the bit about the Libya deal. Less than a day's expense in Iraq to help bring down the chief planner of the Lockerbie and Berlin bombings. And no American dead, not even an embassy staff member taken hostage - not one. Netanyahu better de-recognize this rogue regime immediately!
40. Author is DELUSIONAL
Nina ,   NYC   (08.24.11)
As far as most Americans are concerned Obama is pandering to Israel way too much. Stay out of our business and out of our politics. Obama will be reelected no matter how much delusional Israel-Firsters whine.
41. Miss me yet?
Roger ,   Chandler, USA   (08.24.11)
As a politically active American, I say: great column! You could write a book about the disaster currently taking up space in the White House.
42. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.24.11)
In charge of what? Please elaborate. Wasn't he going to be the "president" who got us out of Iraq? Well ... we are now in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Waziristan, Pakistan (gee, all those Moslem "stans"), Yemen and Libya. What does the United States have to show for it, except a whole lot of dead American kids? Oh, sure. That's what Americans REALLY want .... to die for a bunch of Arab and Moslem thugs. Really.
43. Stupid Americans elected this disaster.
Steve   (08.24.11)
Stupid Americans elected and support this disreputable man; this anti-Semite; this racist, twenty year disciple of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. What did stupid Americans expect when they voted for a racist? Did they expect national / international healing and blessings from heaven? God help us if stupid Americans re-elect him in November 2012. Even now his poll numbers are way to high. #15 may be right. It might be too late to undo the massive damage this single, incompetent man has done.
44. Walt is wrong to commend Bush.
Steve   (08.24.11)
George W. Bush became the first American president to make the establishment of a Muslim-enemy state, in Israel's heartland, a formal goal of U.S. policy. Bush leaned on former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to withdraw from strategic Jewish land in order to shore up his (Bush's) phony Arab coalition against "terrorism." After Sharon agreed to forcibly expel thousands of law-abiding Jews from Gush Katif, Gaza, Bush codified the following language in our national Republican party platform (for the first time in the GOP's history) August, 2004 (excerpts): "We (the Republican party) support President Bush's vision of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side... "Republicans agree with President Bush that Israel's plan to remove all settlements from (Gush Katif) Gaza and several settlements from the West Bank is a courageous step toward peace in the face of continuing terrorist violence. This initiative can stimulate progress toward peace as laid out in the Road Map launched by President Bush. "Republicans commend the government of Israel for its desire to pursue peace, even in the face of continuing terrorist attacks." http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=25850#axzz1VthwxvgS Barack Hussein Obama is Bush's legacy.
45. Bush blew it too, but in different ways
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.24.11)
Bush (via Rice) dismantled much of the anti-terrorism team that had been assembled under Clinton. Then came 9/11 and his insistence that Islam was a "Religion of Peace" which led to more Muslim immigration. It also led to the dysfunctional Department of Homeland Security and the foolish war in Iraq. Bush (via Rice) also gave us the false equating of elections and democracy, which gave us the Hamas victory. And on the economic front? He gave us yet more entitlement spending with the prescription drug policy, and failure to deal with the looming Wall Street house of cards based on easy credit backed up by government guarantees. Yet with all that, he still did less damage in eight years than Obama has so far in less than three.
46. Idiot
samuel ,   NY   (08.24.11)
The author has no bussines in writing. he sees the world in through one prism. Everything has to revolve around the benefit of Israel. Mubark is wise, while everybody else is a tyrant. what kind crabi s that. They all are tyrants and they deserve to step down. Unless we see the world in other people eyes, we will fail and you have failed.
47. The most complete and truthful assessment
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (08.24.11)
of this man and his presidency I've read. After more than two and a half years having him in the WH I still can't understand the american people who voted for him. His assosiations with a racist, antiamerican pastor, a corrupt businessman, a convicted terrorist, his lack of executive experience, lack of accomplishments, etc. and now he is bringing disaster on his country. A twentyfirst century socialist {an imbecile} is the President of the #1 country? Unfortunately he's still too strong in the polls; "the Pesident of the poor" is still the sweetheart of the liberal jewish elite!
48. #2
US_Exceptionalist   (08.24.11)
No, you are, Dan.
49. PRESIDENT OBAMA
david goldberger ,   cooper city,fl .,USA   (08.24.11)
Shame on you for printing such lies. Bush destroyed the US economy, started 2 wars and gave away billions to the rich. People like the author hated Obama before the election and continue to hate him eventhough he saved the US economy from another republican depression
50. @ #2
Rick ,   L.A California   (08.24.11)
"This article is pure ignorance " dan the ostrich has bestowed his wisdom upon us.
51. Too late, just like Carter and the Shah
jack ,   london   (08.24.11)
We are still paying a price for that fiasco, the Sunni Islamic Republic of North Africa, formerly Egypt &Libya,is now coming to a cinema near us. With Libya's oil money the muslim brotherhood will be a nightmare on par with Iran.
52. A disaster called Obama
Benassi Albert ,   Clermont ferrand fra   (08.24.11)
thank you for this so true denunciation of the dangerosity of mister Obama
53. the right calls
Michael Storch ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.24.11)
Not to defend BHO in general, but: Libya: letting the Europeans take the sharp edge has been an American foreign policy goal for decades. Finally, somebody was willing to forego unneeded glory and let the Europeans learn a few lessons about defense budgets & requirements & capabilities. He got it right. Egypt: it is a supreme conceit to imagine that anything the Americans could do to 'support' Mubarak would have led to anything other than an unnecessary blood bath before his fall. The lesson of 1979 Iran has been learned, finally, by somebody: domestic ME politics don't get dictated by Washington. Bahrain & Saudi: supporting government violence where violence did the trick; doesn't that mean he got it right? Cheers,
54. the author
me   (08.24.11)
is just another right wing propagandist... The political/economic mess the world is in now is by large Bush administration seeding and legacy...if you want him back, we'll send you to a distant planet with him.
55. obama
Michel Eisenfeld ,   france   (08.24.11)
the only thing Obama succeded was in weakening the US and his allies and reinforcing their ennemies.
56. Obama as been telling Assad to step down everyday.
noa ,   israel   (08.24.11)
At least Obama did not enter a war with Iraq under the pretense of searching for Weapons of Mass Destruction and then later on admit he was lying and that was not his intention at all. At least Obama did not make billions off the American people through deals with the Saudi's. At least Obama was not protecting his own oil interests in order to steal from the American people. It's easier to blame the honest guy, who doesn't have as many resources. Oh boy, does money talk.
57. obama
sas ,   israel   (08.24.11)
IF we was WISE he would QUIT while he is still "ahead". He really has ruined the world. Maybe the earthquake in Washington was a sign from the lord that he should not return there but go back to his house in Chicago. Whatever good thing there was in this world he somehow managed to rin. Wonder how his wife and daughters feel????? Probably too embarrassed to go outside and back to school.
58. EXCELLENT ARTICLE!!
jenny ,   Israel/USA   (08.24.11)
I completely agree #5 - nobody should be surprised - all the signs were there...what a disaster.
