At the begining of one such demonstration a leader of this organization, Jaap Hamburger, gave a speech. He started with an anecdote about Nazis in France. Then he spoke about Israel in Gaza. The crowd cheered. This Jewish leader also said that the Jewish community only complains about (non-existent) antisemitism because it wants more government funding. He is on record as saying that people who are pro-Israel cannot be loyal to the Netherlands. Mr. Gerstenfeld, why do you spare these Jewish fellow travellers of Jew-hatred in your article? They are much worse than the football hooligans.

I was disgusted to read what some of my former country fellow soccer fans get up. First of all these people are not true grit sport people but rather uneducated misfits who seek confrontation and hate games for the sake of some form of sick entertainment. Let Dutch society be tolerant but never permissive of this type of racism. I am shocked at the lack of action on behalf of the Dutch authorities with regard to this behaviour.

In the Canadian, American, Australian and New Zealand dialects of English, the game is called "soccer". In the British dialects of English, the game is called "football", as it is called in other European languages. I am not sure why some would insist that the British wording is more correct than the North American or Oceanic ones, unless they wish to insist that all Englishes but the British English are illegitimate.

This sort of bigoted, racist chanting is so inconceivable to American sports fans, that it only further goes to show what an irreparably sick society Europe is, and that frankly, we Americans are vastly superior. Someday, sooner than later, the USA will win the World Cup (especially with our growing Hispanic population), and the look of disgust on the faces of all those racist European fans will be priceless.

Dear Sister. In Brazil, everybody likes soccer, like me. We have won five times the World's Championship. But Anti Semitism, here, is a crime, forbidden by the Constitution. We call it football because you play it with your foot. Quite simple really. British English is the correct English. North American or Oceanic English is a local variation of British English - the Mother Tongue. I hope that helps. :-)
