1. three conclusions
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.02.11)
There was nothing Israel could do to appease Erdogan. The whole flotilla incident was orchestrated to prove to the Islamists that he is a tough guy The soldiers behaved the only way they could. Ehud Barak failed once again.
2. UN Report on Flotilla Raid
Bruce Fillpot ,   Albuquerque, NM   (09.02.11)
Great reporting on what is now obviously a politicized incident.
3. to number 1

1. well said 2. well said 3. not enough said
4. Excellent analysis.
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.02.11)
Nothing else need to be added.
5. Same procedures on other vessels - no problems.
Doug ,   UK   (09.02.11)
Israel adopted identical principles and procedures with all the other vessels involved in the flotilla that day. There was no violence on the other vessels, no casualties, no UN investigation, no problems. The entire incident revolves around the terrorist IHH operatives and the direct involvement of Turkey. No violence against Israel, no casualties, no problems. It is sad that Israel is again the party ridiculed for defending itself against unprovoked aggression, while the perpetrators receive a slap on the wrists. The same has been true throughout the so called 'peace process', it was the same in Cast Lead and it will remain the same in the future. The UN is an anti-Israeli body and any report emanating from there will have these hallmarks. It took Goldstone a while to see the error of his ways but even then others were so blinded by indoctrination and propaganda that they still couldn't see the wood for the trees. Turkey's demands were indeed meant to humiliate Jerusalem. They failed. They remind me of the playground bully caught in the act, stamping their feet in self-righteous indignation. It's as if they are screaming at Israel 'how dare you hit us back'. They were taught a lesson and didn't like it.
6. Turkey expels Israel"s Envoy
Kevin John Lee ,   Barrhead/UK   (09.02.11)
Israel is right not apologies! for she did not agree to Turkey sending that ship in question to try and break Israel"s blockade of Gaza,if the blockade on Gaza was broken, there would be no control of imports would be in place,so allowing no amount of arms etc to enter Gaza, which could result in an almighty war ensuing, with thousands of lives being lost on all sides. Maybe just maybe Turkeys stance could have more to do with Israel refusing to vote that the genocide perpertrated on the Armenians,by Turkey was not Genocide. Shabat Shalom KJL.
7. you really have to have a dissocial disorder, when you
eporue ,   europe   (09.02.11)
find there is no apology needed....
8. Maurice has it.
Joel ,   USA   (09.02.11)
Ron nails it. Again. Kol ha kavod.
9. #7 dissocial disorder?
Not surprised   (09.03.11)
Are apologies from victims the norm in your "social order"? Is that part of your sociological views? Are you confusing "peaceful and harmonious relations" with "groveling and pleading to violent bullies to allow one's existence"? The two are not the same... Maybe your oft-posted negative views of Jews and Israel are slightly tainted by prejudices and bias? Are you perhaps NOT objective in your unsolicited opinions?
10. Well Said

11. According to international law
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.03.11)
The same San Remo Maritime Treaty that justified the blockade, states that after a verbal and visual warning, the vessel that fails to comply with order can be SUNK. The claim of excessive or disproportionate force is not in any international law or treaty. It has been invented by leftists to claim we are not allowed to but a stop to war crimes, but it DOESN'T exist.
12. " ------ left them to die there"
Stan ,   Israel   (09.04.11)
See end of paragraph 7. Everybody seems to have forgotten that four Israeli soldiers were disarmed and locked in cabins below deck. They were released after the Israelis gained control of the ship. It is unfortunate that most Israelis, including the writer of this article, still believe that ALL NON JEWS ARE AGAINST US AND WANT TO KILL US. There is also a tendancy for Israelis to be "trigger happy" in handling non Jews. Examples?? In 1956 a curfue was announced in the early hours one afternoon. Arabs out working in their fields did not know about it and when they returned to their village in the evening about 40 of them were shot dead.(See KAFR KASSEM) 2. 6 Arabs were shot dead during a demonstration demanding the return of 5000 acres of Arab owned land. See "LAND DAY 30 . 03 .1976 they were next to their villages and were not threatening the safety of any Jews so why shoot them ? 3. When Arabs throw stones , these stones are considered lethal weapons and the soldiers fire at the stone throwers. When Ultra Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem throw stones nothing is done about it.
13. to no 12
koby ,   Tel Aviv   (09.04.11)
well you said all so beautifully .. but ammm.... if just think ... lets say the USA is a small country like Israel .. that is placed in the middle of many many milllions of arab people that really dont like USA ... thay make several wars .. some biger some smaller ... no stop terror actions ... after a while it doesn't meter israel usa or france ... every country will be "trigger happy " but i just don't agree with this statement.... today israel is the most democratic state in the middle east .. but every one that would live like israel lives will do the same ... i really liked the article ... and i really think we were to good here .. we should have just let it come a bit closer and sunk it down .. for god sake ... no country in the world will tell Israel how to defend it self ... we told the ship to turn around .. they didnt do it .. i wonder if there is any comando force that went to the mission and went with paint ball weapon .... in a way it was good , if no that i am sure we would had seen soldiers die .. and about turkey ... well who cares .. i say no to turkey, with friends like this who need enemies . its the same as a friend of mine will come one day and stab me in the back with a huge knife ... i say Israelis should stop travele to that bad place ..
14. I'm sorry you have a dissocial disorder, #7 eproue
Isaac Storm   (09.05.11)
Maybe if you learned to apologize, then you would be able to overcome your dissocial disorder. Try this on for size: " I, eproue (sic) am sorry for all the terrible things that I have said about Israel. I know the things that I said were untrue." Say this about 10 times a day and then maybe you will be cured. P.S. I put (sic) after your name because in English, proper names should be capitalized; however, a "k" after the "sic" in your case would be entirely appropriate.
