Erol ,   Toronto Canada   (09.02.11)
Israel government should appologize from Turks and from their own people.
2. They can't have their cake and eat it too
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.02.11)
Time to inform the Turkish government that we are not a door mat for their racist leadership. Time to end the sale of weapons to a regime that attacks us, verbally and physically.
3. Dear Ron B. Yishai
Israeli 2   (09.02.11)
You sound gleeful, extactic even that they left open a possible mending and return to a coochie-coochie relationship. What is this with you?
4. I wouldn't have sold the Lorop system
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.02.11)
Then again, I recognized that Turkey was no longer an ally several years ago. I guess Israel's political and defense leaders were slower to recognize the obvious.
5. erdogan and turkey
joel ,   usa   (09.02.11)
THE TURKEY CITIZENS AND ITS ARMY UNDERSTOOD THAT THE REAL PROBLEM OF TURKEY IS NOT ISRAEL BUT MR ERDOGAN, AND THEIR JUST WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO KICK HIM OUT, HA, HA, HA!
6. Turkey was infuriated by the publishing of the report?
William ,   Israel   (09.02.11)
They were the ones pushing for its publication. I guess they really wanted to threaten the publication in order to extract concessions from Israel. How very "Arab" of them.
7. #5:
Israeli 2   (09.03.11)
They had an election not too long ago and Erdogan won by a landslide. Most Turks want this gonner.
8. Erdogan and his ilk are the problem not the turks. I lived
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.03.11)
there for a year and a half and the turks like the Americans. They are generally very nice people. Now they are whipped up by muslum crazies and if a rational leader is elected again, the country will go back to being a friendly nation again. Turks screwed themselves with erdogan just like we (not me) screwed ourselves with obumma.
9. WISHFUL THINKING
AFRIED ,   USA   (09.03.11)
Turkey is controlled by an Islamic party that was not and is not interested in Israel as a friend but rather to use Israel as a whipping boy in order to win over Arab admiration.
10. turkey left opening
suleyman ,   uk   (09.03.11)
may I say this.Turkey is playing strange Card Game to be seniour power of the west in the middle east. I feet it is using some marketing strategy. In trelation to Iran I think it only using israel as sort of not its friend to hit PKK by using IRan Card, as if the west soon be planning to hit Iran with what ever to get rid of the mullas Israel reflationship with turkey is just a strategy its soon be back to normal.I feel there is a good relationship and may be it is a nato strategy, who knows?.
11. NATO is now closed for Israel
jackflash   (09.03.11)

15. Israel-Turkey
Dimitris ,   Athens, Greece   (09.03.11)
Unfortunately, Israel experiences by it's self, as most countries bordering with Turkey, what turkish "friendship" means....
16. We lost an important ally
Lev Schuler ,   New York, SA   (09.03.11)
We are again alone in middleeast after the revolution in Egypt and problem with Turkey. It is obvious that Israel government must pay penalty for the overseas operation which Israel does not have rights to do. As a result, Israel lost the most important ally in the region.
17. Certainly one of Ron Ben-Yishai's better articles!
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (09.03.11)
18. Apart from short term profit making
Danny   (09.03.11)
Is there really a good reason to be selling advanced weaponry to a country that is actively undermining Israel and actively working with the enemies of Israel?
19. Time to calm things down
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (09.03.11)
Before right wingers encourage a confrontation with Turkey and believe that Israel can defeat anyone consider the facts: Turkey has the second largest standing armed force in NATO. America has the first. Turkey has a million men in its army. Turkey has a population of 70 million people and a fully equipped and well trained army and airforce. Israel fought to a standstill with the 1,000 member terrorist group Hezbollah in 2006. Turkey is not Hezbollah. Please folks. Enough of the "bring it on!" bluster. Israel cannot defeat Turkey in a confrontation. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Netanyahu should have apologized publicly to Turkey and could have done so without looking weak and this escalating and NEEDLESS confrontation could have been avoided. If Israel allows hotheads like Erdogan and Avigdor Lieberman to rule the day then EVERYONE loses. Arrogance and hubris on BOTH sides is going to lead to a situation that will harm both sides and possibly cause the deaths of innocents on both sides. Now is the time to calm things down. Ratchet down the rhetoric and threats and look towards tomorrow and try to change things for the better or else Israel and Turkey both lose. There are no winners here if this continues to spiral out of control.
20. Turkey is extreamly important
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (09.03.11)
Is it the same Turkey ?.that refused to let the US use Turkish air fields in 03 during the war with Sadam-Iraq,Turkey has become unreliable under Erdogan,Turkey is intoxicated with islamic opium,to the detriment of the Turkish people themselves.
21. #14 Salma - I worry
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.03.11)
You will never open your window to answer my easy questions, because the answers will drown your already failed hopes for a Palestinian State 17 Days and counting, at the end of which will be utter disappointment Do you have your tissues ready for eye dabbing ?
22. #16 Lev Schuar - Palmer report
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.03.11)
stated that Israel was within its rights Ally, in what sense, would Turkey have allied itself with Israel against any Muslim attack ? Once Erdogan took office, the nature of the friendship changed, since Erdogan is a Islamist, something which Ataturk reviled, since his military was secular The Turkish Military leaders who knew which side their bread was buttered on kept the Islamaist's out of power, Erdogan changed all that At this rate, Turkey will become another vassal of Iran, just like Lebanon is and Syria is about to be You might want to look at how Turkey dealt with Greece, Kurds & the Armenian’s before you snap to judgment
23. The hole of opportunity
Simon ,   Melbourne Australia   (09.03.11)
Turkey has just announced it intends to send more aid ships with the support of it's navies protection. They are determined to break the maritime embargo so that they can support Hamas.Sounds like a black hole to me.What is more important money or security?
24. Palmer Report
Lev Schuler ,   New York, USA   (09.03.11)
Palmer report was prepared with Jewish influence and pressure, it is obvious and noone takes it as a reference in Turkey believe me, You make an operation in overseas, there is no excuse of that.
25. Turkey
Lev Schuler ,   New York, USA   (09.03.11)
How can Turkey let USA to kill muslims in Iraq? All muslim countries can be against Turkey in that case!! it was a strategic decision and USA government at that time did understood why Turkey could not open the fields, so i see that you didn't understand still after 8 years:)
26. #22 Palmer Report
Lev Schuler ,   New York, USA   (09.03.11)

27. #20 Turkey is important
Lev Schuler ,   New York, USA   (09.03.11)
How can Turkey let USA to kill muslims in Iraq? All muslim countries would be against Turkey in that case!! it was a strategic decision and USA government at that time did understood very well why Turkey could not open the fields, so i see that you didn't understand still after 8 years:)
28. Turkey left an opening? Good, close the door.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.04.11)
Best defense is a good offense (and vice versa, of course). Israel should respond immediately and cancel all air routes to Turkey except for a once a week flight to Ankara for diplomats. The Turkish tourist industry will scream, since tens of thousands of Israelis will go elsewhere every year.
29. you right
kurt ,   istanbul   (09.04.11)
you right my friend. your goverment is idiots co.
30. Lev Shuler
Beverly L ,   Toronto Canada   (09.04.11)
What cool aid are you drinking? The Jews influenced the Palmer report!! That is why even though they said the blockade was legal, the IHH had planned an attack, the first two Israelis were brutally attacked - but Israel used excessive force? You also want Turkey to have it both ways. If they actually want to be a full member of NATO then it means they will have to choose between the west and brutish regimes which may be Muslim. The west had no problem defeating a Christian regime to save Muslims, but you suggest that it is impossible to expect the same from Turkey or from any Islamic country. Religion seems to trump morality!
