1. No, cute girl, you won't fool anybody.
Jules   (09.03.11)
The last time in 1917 the Russians had learnt what your Bolsheviks' ideology really brings: civil war and collapse of the country.
2. Just imagine:when slaves were freed in USA had they demanded
tom ,   tel aviv   (09.03.11)
(Right Now!!) equal salary, right to mixed schools, mixed marriage, equal education shortly, all the things we take for granted now they would've gotten "bobkes" instead! It takes time, lot of time to move the wheels of "social justice" if such thing even exists or has the right to exist, our human nature taken into account. Please stay at home and turn on the TV to watch somebody win a million in another stupid reality show. Don't waste energy on this "protest"... but it's like... my private opinion.
3. Spoiled kids
Salomon Mizrahi ,   Brazil   (09.03.11)
Some 10 to 50 grads on Tel-Aviv will bring you back to the real world... Wake up... Turkey wants war against Israel
4. Bunch of Liberal Anarchist
Eli ,   Israel   (09.03.11)
This has nothing to do with social justice, just the criminal Liberal Socialists trying to take down the government with LIES!!
5. The Seinfeld Movement
Dan ,   NYC USA   (09.03.11)
This movement is about nothing.
6. Government
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (09.03.11)
There is no social entity called "Governmnet.. " The government is a collection of politicians whom you, the people of Israel, have elected. If you don't like the way they run your show, elect different people, based on the extent to which they "sing your song," and hold them personally responsible for the way they complied with your wishes. I get monthly and weekly emails from my State and reps in Washington as to what is on the agenda, how they intend to vote and why. If I don't agree with them, you can bet that they'll hear from me; by email, by letters to their local offices and, if all of that fails, at the next elections. It's surprising how effective that is,
7. dears protesters join the elected government of Israel
elie   (09.03.11)
Dears protesters join the elected government of Israel. Who has elected Stav Shafir ? Anybodies from anywhere and who say anything must not govern the silent majority. A democracy must not be governed by "grandes gueules" and the street...
8. #1Where did you see anything remotely related to bolshevism?
Evgeny ,   Israel   (09.03.11)
9. Eating Well
grod ,   grod@optimum.net   (09.03.11)
She looks very well fed & well paid.
10. these people
michaelpielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (09.03.11)
These people do not represent me. They are a bunch of draft dodging reactionaries who have tied themselves to 2 legitimate issues. Housing is too expensive because of short sighted government policies and the israeli bureaucracy. Concentration of monopolistic wealth in too few hands.
11. #6 if only it worked that way in Israel
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NYC   (09.03.11)
Your comments are well thought out and useful in countries with direct elections and thus personal accountability. Israel has neither. In our party oriented politics, where election promises die on election day, This the biggest problem in Israel.
12. Is foreign and enemy money funding this?
MARK KLEIN, M.D. ,   OAKLAND   (09.03.11)
Buses, sound systems, lighting, printing and publicity cost money.
13. Romans Ruled from Caesarea Stil Do
RuleOfThe"Emperors" ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.03.11)
2000 years ago the Roman rulers ruled from their luxurious villas in Caesarea todays rulers in Israel the Moguls Politicians and Media Elite still rule us from their villas in Caesarea and Ramat Aviv Kiriat Shmaryahu etc with the same policies as the Romans keep the masses quiet with "Bread and Circuses" keep the masses ignorant so they can be used as financial/ commercial fodder for their greed which knows no boundries "Let them eat cake" said Marie Antoinette that seems to be the policy of our mogul/politician elete Lets hope they are now shuddering as they look down at the protests from their penthouses cocktails in hand like Louis and Marie did in Versailles before their fall.
14. M.Hartley # 6
Sagi   (09.03.11)
In Israel democracy ends exactly one minute after the ballot boxes close. This is problem numero uno in Israel. The people on the street are too dumb to understand this. I am sorry to have to express myself in this way but it is the case. The sad state of affairs in Israeli society stems from this factor and this factor alone. No elected Government, no accountability, neither personal nor party, no separation of State and Religion, no Constitution. All these are the malady, the social injustices are the symptoms. In pathology you must attack the illness not its manifestations.
15. They are making plans...
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (09.03.11)
and you wont talk to them.
16. "Social Justice" Marxism by the minority mob
Greycoat ,   Tampa, FL   (09.03.11)
"Social Justice" is the latest lingo and code for "Marxism", i.e. socialism. There are over 7 million people in Israel and these 400,000 protesters don't even number close to being near the majority let alone the majority. But instead of going to the polls in an election to have their "hope and change", they take to the streets like the Left always does, i.e. tyranny of the mob. Mob rule is not the way to run a country. In recent past protests in Israel, there were signs of Che, a revolutionary mass murderer, being carried by the Marxists and "useful idiots" of the Marxists. Bibi needs to tell them no for Israel is not ruled by the mob particularly a mob that does not represent the majority in Israel.
17. I bet George Soros is funding some of this
Greycoat ,   Tampa, FL   (09.03.11)
Evil "open society" George Soros is funding the attempted collapse of nations around the globe with his "social justice" global Marxist agenda. Soros is attempting to collapse the US with his open society Uncle Tom puppet in the White House. George Soros, a sick Nazi collaborating self-loathing Jew, and his fellow Marxist globalists are trying to bring about their "new order" and they, along with Obama, must destroy the US and Israel before they can achieve their agenda. Sadly, they have a lot of useful idiots to help them.
18. 5, you have a point
Ishai ,   Israel   (09.03.11)
A good one.
19. A tiny little info on Stav shaffir
Gábor Fränkl   (09.04.11)
She is also an employee of Ynet group, officially on their payroll. Oops! There goes the mask slipping ynet!
20. Undermining the democratic state of Israel
Avner ,   Tel Aviv   (09.04.11)
These "social protests" are a foreign-sponsored and organized attempt to undermine the democratically elected government. The protests are organized and funded by American activists, and some naive and lazy Israelis have fallen for it.
21. "...the new society..."
Cameron ,   USA   (09.04.11)
Babe, you lost me right there.
22. How Will They Like Living Under Sharia Law
Dan ,   USA   (09.04.11)
The moment Isreal begins to do what these anachist want is the moment Isreal will begin to fade as a country. These people do not understand or do not want to understand that the country they live in is constantly under siege from enemies just waiting for internal Israel strife. The people formenting this rally are simply takers and the more they are given the more they will want, until one day they will all be killed by Arab invaders or if not killed will find themselves living under Sharia law. Then let them try to protest..
23. She Is A Lightweight
A.C.Guard ,   USA   (09.04.11)
Ms Shaffir is nothing more than a lightweight dream weaver. In her entire article there is nothing to take hold of. It is all shimmering quick silver.
24. Pathetic
Gabriel ,   Tel Aviv   (09.04.11)
It's mind-boggling to see so much opposition/conspiracy theory idiocy about a rally that has broad support in Israel. Seriously, come live in Israel where your government doesn't listen to the majority of people, where you work harder than anyone and yet will never be able to afford to save money, where you pay high taxes so that lazy people who make up 50% of the population, don't have to work, and then you can complain. Sick of Americans pretending they understand this.
25. Back to disastrous socialism of the 60s.
Ben Yisrael ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.04.11)
We have the lowest unemployment in the developed countries and she wants to ruin it all. Shame.
26. Stupid talkbacks
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (09.04.11)
To all you doubters……. Most of whom are Americans spouting their version of what is right and what is wrong........ This movement is NOT about kids wanting something for nothing. Just to suggest that is extremely offensive. This is about kids starting up in adult life, having served their country for 3 years and studied for their bachelors degrees and they still end up in low-wage jobs of about 4000 shekels a month. They want to buy apartments - yes, poxy little apartments, not houses - but even those cost around 1.5 million shekels. Do the maths - that's 33 YEARS of wages. But they can't even get mortgages because they have to deposit 30% to start off with. This situation is ridiculous and untenable. Meanwhile they are exploited by landlords who themselves bought those rental apartments back in the 80s by unindexed mortgages and the hyperinflation cancelled out their debts so they effectively got the apartments for next to NOTHING. Add to all this the high cost of living in this country and you start to get the picture. The BBC - yes the BBC - sent a reporter to the demonstration yesterday and he himself said on air "as a foreigner here I can certainly attest to the fact that the cost of living is extremely high". So are you now starting to understand a little, all you doubters and pourers of scorn on an important social movement? Those of you who are not here - well come and see for yourselves. Work for 4000 shekels a month and see where that gets you.
27. Protest needs to focus on housing
Abbie ,   Netanya   (09.04.11)
The protesters have a hundred different demands, from doctors who make 10,000 NIS a month wanting more money to Pali activists, mothers wanting cheaper baby products, just to name a few of the problems with the protest. This protest needs to stay non-political and not accept money from Soros or other political groups. Until the protesters unite in one idea and stop accepting help from those who undermine the real problem, the protests are a waste of time, since there can never be a resolution to 100 different things, which are all in opposition of each other. Get the protest back on track and let's stick to the housing issue if this protest really desires change and success. If the immediate problem is housing
28. Stav - you are great. I support you - 100%.
Alterman ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.04.11)

zionist forever   (09.04.11)
I agree with what you say about elections in this country which is why they should be demanding electoral reform. End crooked & wasteful coalition government and we will get promises don't last beyond election day. The British system is ideal, they have three parties and providing them get a minimum number of seats they run the country alone for up to five years. So what they promise you before the election is what you get afterwards. There are no political or financial coalition pay offs. MPs are directly elected so you don't get politicians who are in the cabinet for decades and if you don't like an individual you can kick them out. We need directly elected politicians who will serve for a fixed time and their party will rule alone and get things done. We don't want coalitions which break down after two years and then the taxpayers have to spend millions on a new election because the politicians argued. We need to be encouraging the protestors to demand electoral reform not social justice.
30. #26
Mal Ohana ,   Kfar Saba, Israel   (09.04.11)
I, too, really love it when these Americans, sitting on their backsides, pontificate on how we ignorant Israelis should solve our problems. I love this active youth - who are our promise for a better future, and maybe even for politicians able to act for the people's welfare with greater integrity than the present 120 incumbents - most of whom need to be booted out.
