31. not about social justice
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.04.11)
We've been here before. This protest is not about social justice but about electing the extreme Left. Between 1996-1999, Netanyahu managed to rescue the Israeli economy from the disaster he inherited from the previous government and defeated Fatah in the First Oslo War. Ehud Barak took over from Netanyahu by babbling about "social justice". As soon as he seized power, Barak ignored "social justice" and instead begged to surrender to Fatah, Hezbolla and Syria. With his lies about "social justice", Barak gave us the Second Oslo War with the 2000 Israeli dead and Israel's current existential threat.
32. The government is more concerned about
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.04.11)
keeping war and hatred going in the Middle East, so the wealthy elite can cash in on the conflict, and don't give a damn about the social problems of Israelis. But they better start being concerned because more Israelis are leaving the country.
33. Mr. Erez...
Marcela Araújo ,   Brazil   (09.04.11)
... should have taken a picture of all protest´s leaders.

35. VITAMIN P
ZICHRON   (09.04.11)
The use of vitamin p in the israeli economy and lust for big money portfolios obtained by graft nevertheless is real and a downer for israels morale . applaud these idealists the spoilt are in caeseria a city that has no right to keep a Roman name.
36. The protesters are pro Obama's puppies
david ,   jerusalem   (09.04.11)
These protests are largely funded by american leftists organisation like NIF ( Daphnée Leef work for it), some leftists journals ( Stav Shafir worked for Ynet) and have the backing of billionaires as Yossi Maiman, the owner of Arutz 10 and a Mubarak friend "buy the égypt gas" mogul. They want that Israël become a jew less country to make business with arabs. Leftists want that Israël capitulate. They are the Antiochos proxies of today.
37. Turn out!
Yoel ,   Israel   (09.04.11)

Don't forget, Gabor, Ynet has the motivation to create interest....to sell more newspaper. Without giving too too much to cinysism (you might stop to get alert), I am afraid you may blame other media with the same feral drive.
39. To #30
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (09.04.11)
Unless and until your system of governing adds better checks and balances, won't allow politicians to hide behind some "party," but holds them individually responsible for how they discharge the mandates they accepted from their constituents, sooner or later, you'll end up with a similar dilemma as you have now. It goes back to what one Lord Acton , whoever the heck he was, stated and which history proved again and again : "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." It would be silly to impugn the unquestionable intelligence of Jews - yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just a bit pro-semitic - but maybe, just maybe the method of application could stand a second glance. Yes, I am sitting on my backside and yes, I am an American, but I can't hit this keyboard standing up and I am a US citizen by choice :-)
40. Foreign Interference
Mary Snow ,   USA   (09.04.11)

42. Dear Social Protest, Get elected if you can.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.05.11)
Dear Social Protest. You claim you are mobilizing "hundreds of thousands" of people in regular protests against government policies. Many Israelis; police included, believe you are wildly exaggerating the numbers of participants in your rallies. More importantly, we question your agenda. History has proven that capitalism; not socialism, is the solution to economic issues and problems. Moreover, ceding land, as many social protestors want, is disastrous. Stop the immature, infantile ranting and get elected if you can. I'm betting you can't get elected in any significant numbers.

i am both american and Israeli. I do not believe that the fact that I was born in America means that I do not have good ideas. The exorbitant price of housing is due to the fact that the government owns most of the land reserves and the government and local government authorities control the zoning of land for construction. In the current situation the authorities, national, local and the bureaucracy are not responsive to the needs of the nation, cheap plentiful housing. Simple solution free up more land end all building moratoriums. Build and build more. In addition end all monopolies in the economic sector.
