1. The problem with taxes and protesters
Serge ,   TA Israel   (09.04.11)
Protesters don't bothered by *their* taxes. They want other people's taxes. Basically the core of they demand - they don't want to work, but they do want the same "dignity" as the people who do work. And I don't mean tycoons and millionaires - this scam never paid any taxes and they will never do. A talk about the same much suffered middle class, to whom those protesters claim to belong. It's middle class who will end up paying for protesters iPhones, apartments in Tel-Aviv downtown and university tuition. Those protesters are not middle class - they are spoiled middle class children, greedy and not caring.
2. Is this an incitement to violence?
Eric ,   Toronto   (09.04.11)
Lapid is another dangerous leftist idiot who wants to see his country go down the drain. It's not all roses in Canada or elsewhere in the world. Do these idiots think that the cost of living and housing has not gone up elsewhere? Come to Toronto and have a look at the prices of our houses and condos!
3. Show your power at the ballot box
David M.   (09.04.11)
In a democracy the only way to show power is to vote. Let them win in the next elections and they can lead the country to Nirvana.

Rachel ,   US   (09.04.11)
Hope & change did not work for US and will not work for Israel.
8. 'New People!
MC   (09.04.11)
'New people, indeed! These are not 'New People' they are those youngsters who are taken in and funded by the New Israel Fund.(NIF) and other leftist supporters. While the cost of living is soaring everywhere, Israel has to make a political statement out of it in order to topple the Natanyahu government What makes the self styled new people think they will fare any better under a different government? Their fate will be a lot worse!
9. start to say no to ridiculous salaries and strike for real
Miriam ,   Ra'anana   (09.04.11)
I immigrated to Israel 2 years ago. I left in the year 2000 and back in 2008. The salaries are even lower now. I got offers from the high-tech sectors of 10.000 nis a month for 9 hours. I just said no thanks, because you cannot live with that. Don't protest on cottage cheese said no to this ridiculous salaries! and STRIKE in the middle of the week, paralyzing the country, let them loose $$$ so they will listen. You are loosing your time with your march of motzei Shabbath. Strike like Europeans.....

14. As long as each one is for himself..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (09.04.11)
any changes will be done on a shaky ground.Change people s values and every change will be effective. All for one,the Jewish way [no way communism] Secular and Orthodox completing each other. The Orthodox are volunteering in hospitals. We might need them now. May the changes that will come ,be an Israeli success story.
15. #13 - another idiot
Eric ,   Toronto   (09.04.11)
400000 people represent only 3.5% of Israel's population. Do your math! And how is my day coming to an end? Are you also advocating violence like Lapid? As they say birds of a feather flock together!
16. Foreign Interference
Mary Snow ,   USA   (09.04.11)
Reforms yes but foreign goverment interference to change Israeli policy NO. Israel National News published a article Report: 'Clinton Adviser Greenberg is Behind Israeli Protests' According to an investigative report by Maariv's Kalman Libeskind see full article eye opener The article in Israel National News says according to article just printed Central Channel 2 political commentator Amnon Abramovich said that the protest is against policies that favor hareidis and settlers.
17. Social justice
Sasha ,   USA   (09.04.11)
The problem is that government takes a biger functions on itself and it could be blamed for not functioning. And government alwais dont function correct. Government should relincuish power to citizens, close or minimise responsibility and reload it to its citizens.
18. The Yair Lapid election campaign has began
zionist forever   (09.04.11)
All this revolutionary talk about breaking the chains of slavery sounds like an election campaign. The ones who receive more are not the ones who deserve it. The people are telling our leadership, if you only understand force, then we'll use force. Because those who form an inflated, wasteful government comprising of 39 ministers and deputy ministers only understand force. Those who let the tycoons play with the public's money only understand force. Those who are tough guys at the expense of medical interns, police officers, teachers and social workers but give in to the large unions of various sectors who understand force. All thats missing from this article Yair is you telling us what your going to help break the chains of slavery and how your going to solve all the countries problems. Yair if you want to do the country a favor please don't start yet another party, coalition government is wasteful and bad for democracy.
19. I noticed the latest polls show the opposite
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.04.11)
That Labor and Kadima are losing support to Likud, Shas, and National Union. One thing about Yair - he is as wrong as his father.
20. 3 - still an idiot!
John de Frece ,   Ramat Gan   (09.04.11)
So you expect 3.5 million to demonstrate and only then will you be convinced Has there ever been a demo in Canada of such proportions ?(and BTW why are you a foreigner interfering in my country?)and also BTW -for your information =the only political violence instigated in this country was from the Right and their clerical friends
21. Rabin called them propellers and ignored them
Ilan   (09.04.11)
Tell us the people have power and we will point to Oslo and Disengagement as the counter example; of governments that put their fingers in their ears. I don't think that Netanyahu will have the same "screw the people" attitude, but in no way shape or form will the he let a populism be the determinate factor to policy. He has no intention of seeing our economy ruined like EU super socialists.
22. Same old stuff. Different day.
GideonReader ,   USA   (09.04.11)
Same old cause. Same old Socialist crapola. (Has NEVER worked anywhere, anytime, EVER) but this time paid for by a different EG (Eminence Gris) and with a direct connection to the Democrat Party of the United States, i.e. Stanley Greenberg. The Demorats are the party of Barrack Hussein Zerobama, who has a vested and more recently a panicy interest in seeing some movement, any movement towards his world view of "Peace" in the middle east, with Jerusalem divided and a more friendly and maleable PM at the helm of Israel. Say a re-Koshered Ehud barak, but better a gumbylike Zipperette Livni, the Kadimacrat Charwoman. Snif, snif, I detect the foul odor of rotting fish and the desire to return to the thrilling days of Shimon Peres's yesteryear, and dancing around the campfires of the socialist Kibbutzim, to the squeak of Hora playing neo Marxists. Dance on. The piper WILL be paid. I am sure you prefer that the heshbon be paid with another's kesef.
23. The fool on Israel's hill....
Steve   (09.04.11)
Day after day, Alone on a hill, The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still But nobody wants to know him, They can see that he's just a fool, And he never gives an answer, But the fool on the hill, Sees the sun going down, And the eyes in his head, See the world spinning 'round....
24. Canada
covatembel ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.04.11)
Yes, the house prices in Canada might be going up, but at least you're getting your money's worth... (former Vancouverite)
25. to #22-Not a socialist campaign
Andi ,   Israel   (09.04.11)
This wasn't a cry for more socialism. It was a cry for many different changes, but one of the more prominent ones was to break the monopolies of the rich 5 families and create MORE COMPETITION to bring down prices- a less socilaist concept i can't think of
26. Butt Out
Shimon ,   Tel Aviv   (09.04.11)
No one living outside of Israel has any right to comment on this issue. Butt out.
27. I Feel A Judah & Israel Coming On
Ed ,   Philadelphia   (09.05.11)
FEEL & FEAR. What is next in Israel - CIVIL WAR? Coudn't the protest wait until AFTER this u.n. fiasco in 18 days? Ha-Sh-m HELP US!!!!
28. A spectre is haunting Israel
Vadim   (09.05.11)
A spectre is haunting Israel— the spectre of communism. All the powers of old Israel have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Haredim and settlers, tycoons and ministers... Noting new, resutls are known and also original was better (see here http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/index.htm )
29. #13, #20. So who is the real idiot? Let me remind
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (09.05.11)
you that leftists claim this free rock concert-demonstration was about "social justice" and not about right wing government and "their clerical friends." Right?
30. Lapid is a Dangerous Man
EJ ,   Boca Raton, USA   (09.05.11)
Lapid is a hard leftist and secular humanist who poses great danger to Israeli society. He is an Orthodox Jew despising, West Bank withdrawing, Golan Heights surrendering fool of a man who wants to cut 25% of Israel's defense budget and put it into social programs. Israel's economy is good but he supports the protesters and their me, me, me, now, now, now agenda. In the world of Lapid, no one should have to pay much for a house and Israel should be a socialist santa claus for everyone. But the real agenda is to try to take down Bibi and gut the defense budget in Israel's in most dangerous hour. Iran will have nukes by the Spring of 2012 but nazi mullahs with the ability to gas Israel is of no significance to Lapid. A desperate Assad could lurch out at Israel at any time but Lapid is more concerned about a leftist basket of economic goodies for Israelis. The Palestinians are on the verge of applying to the UN for statehood but Lapid is little concerned and probably supports their application. The Egyptian border is now being used to commit barbarian attacks on Israel's citizens but Lapid is more concerned about so called social justice. Hamas and its friends continue to bomb Israel from Gaza, Iran recently staged a political coup in Lebanon thus putting Hezbollah in control, and Hezbollah has tens of thousands of missiles aimed at Israel but Lapid is more concerned about trying to bring down the Israeli government. What type of man in Israel's most dangeous hour tries to stir up the populace at home? What type of man in Israel's most dangerous hour wants to slash 25% from the military budget? What type of man would want Israel to withdraw from the West Bank and Golan Heights. Lapid is a selfish and radical left wing extremist who puts his radical secular humanist agenda ahead of the safety and security of the State of Israel. Guys like Lapid are a grave threat to Israel's survival.
