Yahir Lapid was so cynical in this article that i simply cant believe it! My g_d! he is so beautiful and handsome that i forgot during the reading if he was writing with his left or his right! Anyhow, is easy for him to call israelis from the protest slaves, because he is suggesting that he wasnt among them and somehow he have power, i really hate that part of his opinion, in fact he must apologize to the israelis of saturday night :-) besides that, he writes pretty good, no doubt he speak the language of those who are in charge in the political scenario,,,cheers for that one

perhaps the new people are less self styled than what can be argue...but what about Hertzel, David Green, Rabins,Shamirs, and many others deep thinkers, i mean, after all, those were the real people of yesterday..dont you think so?
35. yair lapid- "israel"s/ new people".

the title of that article from "ynetnews.com", of the 5th. of september 2011, can better be:" the present/the next "Israelist(ic)", zionist, judaist, jewish etc. generation/population/people in the world-region of western-asia and beyond!", in that case ,i thought.
36. Au Contraire - they have almost zero power

Good grief. 400k people who came out will for the most part go back and voted how they voted before. Lapid fails to note that these protesters are now lead by Meretz, Peace Now, and a bunch of individuals who talk about "your dirty capitalism"? Oy. Save us! Did Lapid see how the extreme left has hijacked this movement and added clauses to the manifesto calling on them to march in solidarity with the Palestinians? In politics, the power of the masses comes totally undone unless the masses are united and lead forward. These protesters have no leader, and no unification leading into any elections. The protests got a message out, but they have no real power to do anything about it.

So I was amongst the 350000 in Tel Aviv on Saturday night. Was I protesting about the cost of living? No I took my son and his friends to watch Eyal Golan, along with thousands of others. Without these "free " concerts the organisors would be hard pressed to fill the square with 50000 let alone 350000. If you want money, then work. If you cant afford an appartment in Tel Aviv, then move to the suburbs. All these layabouts demanding something for nothing. As regards to the tent city. Isnt it amazing how the weather is cooling down, schools have started, so the organisors decide there is no need to continue living in tents. At the end of the day, most of the tent "residents" just treated tent city as a kind of holiday camp. Who will pay for the clean up operation? US - The taxpayers. Who will pay for the increased police presense? US - the tax payer enough is enough If you want a cheap standard of living, buy a house in the Negev or the Galil (or even - dare I say it- In Judea/Samaria) Having paid my dues, through continuous taxation and reserve duty, it is now time for my voice to be heard

Or year, they would lead the country to Nirvana, but not Buddist Nirvana, but to the leader of band Nirvana "Nirvana", to the grave. This people with brains clogged with drugs hardly work in this country. They spend money of their rich parents and now they want the gouverment to pay for their luxcory life. If they really would worke, they would not have time to demonstrate or sit in tents for more than month. And they call themselves a new Israelies? There is nothing new in them. It's all old freeloaders from the leftists past. Their parents was in charge of this country for more than 30 years and they got everything for free. Now their spoiled kids want everything for free and we taxpayers would be paying for their appartments, cars, kids and more and more. If they want something, they should get a job and pay for it. There is not free staff in Israel. Free cheez could be just in mouse trapp.

Pardner, you have not made sufficient contributions to the good of your people; or have earned the right to tell any of them, regardless of where they "talkback" from, to butt out. Like the nether regions of every living thing, we all also have opinions, and unless you are the meanest SOB in every valley, anywhere can you cloture debate. Read them (the backtalk) or skip them, but do not ever tell any Jew he does not have the right to express his or her opinion. Ever.

I get it. "give us stuff we didn't earn cause we demand it !" We have these same morally bankrupt losers here in America.

The problem is not social protest, nor Yair Lapid. The problem is that neighboring countries are very different, with quite retarded political thinking (crisis in the central authority), therefore Israel should conform its foreign policy with them, and this means resources, funds and victims. Very good social reaction, the wrong time, but the international situation will never be suitable for anything. The willingness of protesters for a better life is a normal human reaction and is not the prerogative of any political or religious views. Democracy gives opportunities, everyone believes in something, has the right to choose, can be heard different opinions, sometimes quite different. Democracy and socialism are incompatible, and Israel is a very democratic country. There is a difference between socialism and a welfare state. Those, who know socialism only of theory - don’t fear, I have empirical evidence. Not easy for Netanyahu today. Even in democratic countries the head of state is not fully independent. He reckon with many others - more, equal, and below him. Sometimes makes inevitable compromises. #26 you are right, but because our roots we're not indifferent.

The recent protests are merely the sons and daughters of the petit bourgeois squealing and whining for an extra slice of cake. We can only build socialism and a just society by working to increase international working class solidarity and prepare for the Marxist Leninist dictatorship of the proletariat. Workers of the world unite !
