5. Spheres of Influence
MikeA ,   Iowa City, USA   (09.04.11)
As the middle-east has seen its leadership change due to the Arab spring, we in the West are watching on the sidelines to see if the new governments will honor their commitments to the USA... Egypt and Turkey joining forces would mean that Israel will once again face a war to protect itself. Worse yet, the US will find itself in a predicament as it may have to go to war with a fellow NATO member. Iranian and Russian influence in the middle-east is prevalent: Turkey is just one of the dominoes consisting of Lebanon and Gaza. In the end, the US will have to make the inevitable conclusion that Turkey, for all of its strengths as a strategic defense partner and positive Muslim influence in Iraq and elsewhere, does not hold anywhere near the same strategic or cultural values, as those of Israel. The sooner that this truth will be accepted by all in the US administration, the sooner there will be peace. Make no mistake, however: Turkey is moving back across the fence. Blame Israel? No. Blame the EU? Maybe. In any case, the pieces are already in motion...
6. Turkey`s trategc cooperation with Egypt
Nora Tel Aviv   (09.04.11)
TheTurkey-Egypt military strategic cooperation treaty will be signed in Cairo this 12-13 September by Mr. Erdogan and the Egyptian government. Does anyone in the Israeli government has a valid explanation for the need of such a treaty?

One would think he's seen all he wanted to see during his time as ambassador. Me, I was in Turkey in 1976 and got a taste of the popular hostility toward Israel. I haven't returned since.
12. Turkey-Egypt
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (09.04.11)
2 Paupers form an aliiance,Turkey's per capita income is about $ 12000 a year,Egypt about $ 6000,Israel's P.C.I. is about $ 30,000. and all that was done while Israel's one hand is tight behind her back.
13. Cant make sense

What Erdogan is trying to achieve. Turkey is not known to do such major moves without consent from EU and US. Wonder if there is a bigger game afoot to bring Israel under control

Erdogan and crew never wanted/expected an apology from Israel because they want to whip up the masses with anti-Israeli propaganda--the same propaganda that is at the heart of the "Arab Spring" All this is being done with a "wink from Obama. What a disgrace
18. erdogan
Sam M ,   UK   (09.04.11)
I don't think erdogan is mentally stable or perhaps he is just isn't very bright. He is endangering a very valuable friendship with israel and venturing into the far more unpredictabe areas of the middle east. I cannot see how this will be in turkey's long term interests. Israel will no longer trust turkey with hi-tech military equipment and turkey has a lot to lose in this respect. With all due respect turkish technology is not cutting edge and the likely beneficiary of Israeli tech will now be turkey's arch enemy Greece!
19. WOW : )
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.04.11)
soon Palestine will join this new alliance .
20. Great news
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (09.04.11)
An alliance between two Mohammedan governments inevitably leads to hostility between them. They'll both want to dominate the alliance and neither will want to be underdog. This should keep Turkey and Egypt busy.Poor Turks, poor Egyptians;the pawns in their governments' ambitions for regional dominance. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!

Mike ,   Oxford UK   (09.04.11)
We'll see which country suffers more from Erdogans theatrics. The obvious winners are the innocent Kurds who are being killed by Erdogan for allegedly being terrorists while Erdogan hugs and kisses real hamas terrorists
25. let him into gaza from israel, support the PA at the UN
izzie irgun ,   zion   (09.04.11)
Want to stop erdogen going to gaza? just agree and say that israel will escort him to the crossing and let him in anytime he wants to go .. after all doesn't hamas goes to turkey, whats the big deal, let them have tea. Want to stop the un vote? Just have the kinesset pass a resolution supporting the UN creation of a palestinian state subject to boarder negotiations and simultaneously declare the right of return null and void ... after all no state can demand that another state take half their population as refugees. Thats what the state is for.. and as for water and power, take care of that on your own as well As i see it the arabs have no clue what to do because they know israel is going nowhere and a war will punish them beyond what is tolerable ... so if we just go along with their stupid half baked ideas we can make them self destruct and win the pr debte .. imagine the reaction to the headline .. Israel Supports UN Palestinian Statehood Vote ... What would the press say then ... and you know what, it wont change a thing on the ground As for the claims that this will open up israel to all sorts of lawfare, truth is we are already there is Once the palestinians have their symbolic state then Israel ought to take the UN's own documents to prove that palestine as a country never legally or historically existed and is invented ... palestinians have no discerble historical land rights to owning the west bank. .. should make for an interesitng winter debate
26. Turkey hurting itself
Scott ,   Texas   (09.04.11)
Its not Israel that "lost" Turkey. Turkish Islamist dictator has been slowly eroding Turkish democracy, taking over the military, courts, media and banking institutions by installing his Islamist allies and arresting or forcing those who don't agree with his agenda out. He is violating Turkish constitution and traditions. Erdogan also made a conscious decision to move Turkey into anti-West regimes, which are led by Iran and Syria. His support for anti-Israel organizations, anti-Semitic incitement and ending Israel-Turkish partnership is a decision made in Ankara, not Jerusalem. In the end, Turkey will hurt itself, destroy its international standing, damage its regional role and hurt its military. Already, Turkish military is suffering with suspension of Israel contacts, training etc. Israel has gained Greece as an ally and is working on improving Greece's military, Turkish traditional rival. Turkey lost a lot more than Israel and it can only blame itself for it. Its time to remove Turkey from NATO and to bring resolutions dealing with Turkish genocide of Armenians, Turkish violation of Iraqi sovereignty, its attacks on Kurdish villages, its violation of the rights of their citizens.

David ! You probably read a lot of antisemitic literature,Israel receives 3 Billion Dollars a year for Arms purchases from the USA.the American tax payer is getting a ten fold return on the 3 Billion yearly grant to Israel, many countries buy the same Arms from the US,because they believe:if the Arms are good for Israel, they are good and reliable, than how about the Military bases the US keeps all over the world,Europe,Korea,Japan,do you have any problem with that ?.or you just love to hate Israel ?.
