31. #5;MikeA, I THINK....
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.04.11)
At the end of the day we fight our wars based on who attacks us, and Oil interests. Our country has never had to put a boot on the ground to defend Israel. Israel has always fought its own wars. Using mostly French Jets until 1967. After 1967 then the USA began to arm Israel with the best weapons. Why? One word, "Values", both of our cultures have similar values. Unlike the Arab world, Israel will never betray the USA, helping our country one day and fighting our country the next day. It's that reliability that allows us to give our best and most advanced weapons to Israel. Two points, Israel improves them, and would never give it to our enemies. Really a third point, Israel won't use them against us either. Can you say that about Egypt? Saudi Arabia? Iraq? Now I expect the anti-Israel writers to start talking about you know what. From over 40 years ago. Save it!! I don't want to hear it, I don't have to go back 44 years to find what the Arabs have done to us, proof positive I';m right, your wrong. So shut up about it. This last part is not to you Mike. Just cutting off the whiners at the pass.
32. Erdogan trying to overcome the Palmer report fiasco
Joe ,   Canada   (09.04.11)
The Erdogan administration is faced with the serious diplomatic failure that the Palmer report inflicted on its stand regarding the flotilla incident. To recoup some face saving standing both internally in Turkey & externally as middle-east power seeking preeminence in regional affairs it is using the incident as a weapon to hurt Israel any way it can especially with regards to Isreali-Arab relations where it can have an easier task. Erdogan is also trying to use the recent death of Egyptian soldiers to convince the public opinion & the leaders of Egypt that it is as abominable as they are depicting the flotilla incident. But the two incidents are in no way comparable & in the case of Egypt it will likely be resolved diplomatically between Egypt & Israel.

Mind you J.K, Israel's hand was never tied behind its back. Never.
34. 30 - oh shut up..if the US needs weapons they pay outright
David   (09.05.11)
for it. Its just a cover for the mony....and it it is just the tip of the iceberge.. Israel costs the US tax payer well in excess og 5 bil a years and it is conservative estimate.
35. Who Cares? Israel has an alliance with BANKRUPT Greece
David ,   USA   (09.05.11)
... Egypt and Turkey are natural and historical allies. Thank you Mr. Erdogan.
36. Very normal
Emre ,   Istanbul   (09.05.11)
Normally we should have it many years ago. Late but good decision.
37. Egypt - Laughable, but may cost lives :(
Cool ,   USA   (09.05.11)
Ok, presume Egypt does cancel the peace treaty, what happens next? It would be a night-mare for them economically and diplomatically. So in the unlikely situation that it does happen, i presume something along these lines would happen: Some gazans would cross the border and send another attack on israel through egypt, and since the peace treaty is already anulled and egypt obviously wont stop this activity, Israel would just invade and occupy the Sainai, and who could blame israel, really? The UN and EU and Arab League can say and try all the sanctions they want, but by international law, it will probably rule in favor of Israel after all - that's what the Oslo was all about.

Do you think, Turkey and Egypt will then pay for your failed state?
40. they deserve eachother
arshile gorky ,   nyc, usa   (09.05.11)
somehow the 'threat' of a turkey and egypt alliance seems more like a bad joke
41. #34;David, YOUR FUNNY
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.05.11)
Yes, if you break that down to the over 300 million people (330 million) in this country it comes to roughly $1,28/family of 4/week. Tell us, you think One Dollar and 28 cents a week will change any lifestyles? Two points, first 75% of that money, by Law, must be spent in the USA. So most of the money stays right here creating jobs in the USA. The last study I saw show over 20 states had those jobs. Second let us say your wrong you did say "at a minimum". So even if it was $15 billion dollars, and you underestimated by 300%...which you didn't...Do you think the $4 dollars a week/family of 4, would change the families lifestyle? So save that silly argument. I can see where you drink your kool-aid from, Interesting. To quote you in your post "oh shut up", that is until you have some real facts to argue with. Instead of the Pallywood nonsense you seem to read and believe. BTW the Israeli's "Pay Outright" for their weapons as well. Do you have any idea how of our weapons systems have been improved by the Israeli's? Look it up sometime.
42. Egypt and Turkish Strategic alliance.. pheh..
idkak ,   Istanbul   (09.05.11)
Quite frankly I can't say that I support this president at all, big words, no action (or ridiculous action and failure / denial in seeing failing politics).. I mean that is the definition of Greeks at best..lol.. I guess their goal is strategic alliances in various fields with Syria, Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt... etc in the south, and Russia, CIS countries, China, etc.. in the east... Well successful or not, its a big step, and a step in the right direction. Results of which will show the direction that Turkey will take in the near 10 odd years. Egypt - Turkey alliance is just a stepping block, but in the long run a step is a step.. I doubt that it will bring much to the table so to speak.. As far as comments go, its funny to see how many people underestimate Turkey, but who cares...
