1. Yishai Ever the Apologist
"MinaretsOurBayonets ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.06.11)
Although an interesting article Yishai cannot help but to reveal his pacifist left wing credentials by taking a cheap pot shot at Lieberman who is the only politician of note to speak out when Israel's enemys seek to demoralize her soul something other leaders in the past also did not fear to do like Menachem Begin. There is only so much degradation a people or nation can bear and for that many in this nation are grateful to LIeberman. Yishai has a long long list of remarks on all relations we have for grovelling before our enemies and their insults Turkey has a dark dark soul that only an anylist could define they have a lot of maturazation to do .One feels while visiting there that at any moment violence may breakout and their nationalism is enshrined in law it is a crime to insult "Turkishism" whatever that is .On a recent TV program France 24 a Turkish business woman told a reporter Europe has not choice but to make us EO members as we have what you do not millions of young workers.Erdegan :" the mosques are our barracks and the minarets our bayonetts"
2. ahahaha...israel to lower profile for the sake of the US...
eporue ,   europe   (09.06.11)
yeah, sure... and now, please write an article about the recent diplomatic failures of israel...err.. no, dont have to go back a few years, its creditbilty, its economic growth, its nato membership, and its value as an ally to the US... the list can be extended, but you know, there is not enough space here... tia
3. Lieberman should be Israel president
Anna M Sedda ,   Roma-Italy   (09.06.11)
...really to say that Erdogan is like Lieberman is a great offense ;Lieberman should be prime ministe, president, defense minister etc.. He would have told Obama where to go...
4. yeah yeah,,,,,,
Dana Rothschild ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.06.11)
Turkey is "neither a reliable ally nor a credible rival." but "the State of Israel should aim to restore the ties,"..... logic par excellence.....
5. A good article
Andrew   (09.07.11)
A good analysis, as usual.
6. Well of course, who is more knoweldgable, accurate
Allan ,   TA   (09.06.11)

7. Yeah keep on thinking Israel is the great power
mark ,   usa   (09.06.11)
On Monday dozens of Israelis were detained at Istanbul airport in what was perceived by Israel as punitive harassment. The passengers were questioned for up to two hours and some were strip searched

10. Turkey (not the one you eat @ Thxgiving)
George Bown ,   New York   (09.06.11)
Surprisingly reasonable commentary coming from a talking head. End.
11. Some friends are not worth having.
nero ,   Jerusalem   (09.06.11)
Israel has done all it could to retain friendship with Turkey. From trade, miltary training, tourism etc. Israel has never harmed Turkey in any way, only helped. It that is not enough for the radical Muslims in charge there then its too bad. There are 1 billion Muslim arrayed against Israel another 80 million will not make a difference. I am sure that Turkey has little concern for Muslim death, as they overlooked Iran, Gaddafi and Assads's murderous regime, and have no compunctions about killing freedom seeking Kurds. Erdogan will lose his position when Turks realize what a fool he is. Good riddance to bad friends.
12. Hilarious
Susanne ,   USA   (09.06.11)
This author dif a great job of criticizing one of a minority of countries thay has supported Israeli foreign policy in the last decade. individuals like himself are the problem Israel is faced with in garnering support because people like him make the world see Israel as a bunch on thugs. Good job for shaming Israelis Mr. Y!
13. Won't have to worry about NATO for long
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.06.11)
Erdogan is now threatening Cyprus for the crime of thinking that own their natural resources. One attack and Erdogan can not only kiss EU membership goodbye but NATO as well and then the Turkish Navy.
14. NY Jew
Jew ,   New York   (09.06.11)
Why are the negativity after Turkey suspends ties? Where were you before? I can see the hate you Jews have against Muslims.
15. Turkey no great power.
Eldar Bahman ,   USA   (09.06.11)
I stumbled upon your article on Google news and compelled to respond to you. Let’s start with the title of your “masterpiece”. This title grammatically is not correct. Now, to your main point. Yes, Turkey is not a great power. And we (most readers) know that. So, what? What is your point? I don’t see any new information or any analytical value in your article. It seems that you are trying to share your anger with us. Mr. Ron just step outside and scream on top of your lung. That’s works best. It is easy being a demagogue especially when unable to keep your anger in private.
16. I wonder if Turkey would apologize for the Struma.
Scott ,   USA   (09.06.11)
Nine Turks died aboard the Mavi Marmara. 750 Jews died aboard the Struma. Tit for tat.
17. #2 ha haha...you make me laugh!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.06.11)
- Israel is a very credible and stable democracy . Ask ANY western analyst and they will confirm! - Israel does not want membership in NATO. One of the reasons is that the NATO Alliance would not be happy to apply Article 5 of the NATO charter, which would oblige its members to fight for Israel if it were attacked by any of its many potential enemies in an endemically dangerous region. Nor is it clear that NATO membership would be in the best interest of Israel, a country whose defense doctrine has been always based on self-reliance and freedom of maneuver in security matters. Israel’s unwritten alliance with the United States is a more convenient alternative. You don't know what you are talking about! - Israel is the staunchest US ally and is seen as such by the US. The recent Congress decisions on Israeli matters is one of the clear signs of this. Obama just last week reiterated the strength of the ties between Israel and the US. - As far as economic growth is concerned, Israel is one of the few countries that are still showing economic growth in the dismal economic state of the world. What planet are you living on? Dream on in your fantasy world! You make me laugh!
18. Turkey is GOG, GONE and GONGED!!
Israeli 2   (09.06.11)
19. erdogan has just put obumma between a rock and a hard place.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.06.11)
obumma NEEDS turkey to be a good boy and after Bibi's speech in the congress obumma can't poop on him. turkey needs parts for the F-16s and all Bibi has to do is sit back and let the cards fall. If erdogan goes to the ICJ, he will lose there too and he shouldn't risk that, being a two time fool that reinforces Israel's LEGAL blockage of gaza.
20. Erdogans power may be stronger in future
Valdi ,   Germany   (09.06.11)
This article fails to analyze the Islamic factor in the future. Also, to compare Lieberman with Erdogan in this manner, shows how low quality journalism mismatches own political desires with facts to be stated.
21. low profile is always good
Ron ,   oc, us   (09.06.11)
Israel should keep a lower profile vis a vis the Turks. Erdogan wants it that way and Israel can't do much about it. Israel should take its business elsewhere. Meaning, that I agree with this artical.
22. "Erodgan behaves like short-tempered thug"
Marwan ,   Tel Aviv, Palestine   (09.06.11)
so u're saying he's acting like an racist bully who's immigrated from russia then became a bouncer in a night club, then somehow became the foreign minister of the thuggy state of (israel)?! is that really what u're saying?! :)
23. Well -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (09.06.11)
Turkey is important for the US, which is important to us. American bases in Turkey serve as a frontal logistic position for US and NATO troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Turkey also affects stability within Iraq and the prevention of an Iranian takeover after the US withdrawal. Comment - The US has soon to leave Irak and even the Mideast itself. Irak will be taken over by the Shia-Muslims from where the Shia-Islamic Al-Mahdi comes Dan.11:21 - to the end of the chapter., and Esajah chapter 14. And Finaly, Turkey itself is not stable because of its Supressing of the Kurds. Turkey will be crippled when the Mideast konflikt starts, even if successfull to begin with. Bad by Turkey !. Arn.Sweden.
24. Great read until the last paragraphs, if all is true
Eran ,   Europe   (09.06.11)
Israel must stay the course!
25. israel and US money
asim ,   uk   (09.06.11)
Israel without the American money is nothing, so enjoy the moment while you can. like every Empire, US will not be there forever. It might be 20, 30 or 50 years, when US is no longer rich enough or powerful enough to help the little Israel. THEN WHAT? Ask yourself this question
26. An excellent article
Merca ,   Barcelona.SPAIN   (09.06.11)
27. Dear Mr. author
Anton ,   istanbul turkey   (09.06.11)
How amateurish are you? let me point out some facts that your article which is not more credible than any of random commets israelis post here over looked Firstly EU efforst was initiated by Erdogan goverment as you said France and Germany doesnt want turkey in so how is it turkeys failure? even if it was at leats Erdogan tried, and you didint even mention he started EU accession very good journalism :) secondly what does cyrprus has to do with turkey islamist goverment? :) its deadlock for over 36 years As for libya why didint you mention that turkey is doin consturction busnines mostly in "oil rich libya" ? and why didint u mention that not so long ago france and italy was kissing khaddafi's hands? it was normal that turkey was reluctant first and you think that othr countries doin what they do out of love? :) naive journalism :) iran and syria is turkeys partners in region and what you desribe as afauilure was accully good move by turkish goverment, some countries wanted turkey to invade syria but that would be bad move but not for you right you would love it? sneaky journalism :) and you didint even mention israel's below zero credibility across the world, i belive this should be hypocritic journalism :)
28. Mr. Ben Yishai
Borek ,   TURKEY   (09.06.11)
Your article is half true, half not. I dont care EU, Armenia and Cyprus. Cyprus problem has been solved years ago. ( We will never forget Mevhuot Yam's Legendry Israeli Captain Reuven and his BRAVE 13 Israeli Sailors who has SAVED our future admiral Guven Erkaya (RIP) and his 40 Turkish Sailors.Captain Reuven( A Miracle Turkish Jew at Mediterranean during Cyprus war) brought them to Haifa port after Kocatepe naval accident. Turks have left their big NATO size boats in Israel as a gift for Israeli Naval education) Armenia is under Russian control and we are happy with that,No problem! but I'm not happy with Armenian illegals in Turkey and their kid's LEGAL brand-new schools. We will never leave Azeri brothers alone. Iran is threatening everyday with firing 11.000 Rockets or with Kurdish terrorists. Erdogan is not a surprise. Will US officials accept me to White house without official duty ? later with Bravery Medals? with ignoring "Turkish Domestic Suicides" because of state terror??? Who is financing Erdogan's economy policies with 180 billions USD credit since 10 years? Democracy for everyone, for Sderot kids. I dont have time to read an hate speech.Regards.
29. Turkey, is stronger than you think
MIke ,   USA   (09.07.11)
About time someone bitch slaps israel
30. Ben-Yishai no great essayist
animafon ,   USA   (09.06.11)
point 1: turkey has made NO attempt to join the EU, only looking at the possibility of joining in the long term future. point 2: with the exception of the US, no other state in the world recognizes Israeli settlers as legitimate. point 3: failing to influence another state happens all the time, Israel certainly fails frequently. point 4: turkey was certainly NOT gaddafi's MOST important trading partner. point 5: Iran's whole existence is about being not influenced by other states. point 6: yes Turkey failed, so did the US. This is certainly not a metric to measure global influence by point 7: Assad has ignored the entire world, which, yes, includes Turkey point 8: there is not enough room hear to note all of your fuzzy stats and logic. Does it feel good being a propagandist?
