Stefan ,   Australia   (09.08.11)
Not only was Lwow "considered part of Poland during World War II" - it was a Polish city for centuries until the Soviets seized it in 1939 during their joint invasion and partition of Poland with their Nazi German partners. Over a million Polish citizens (Polish, Jewish, Ukrainian) were deported to Soviet labour camps. After the war the Soviets were allowed by the Western Allies to keep Lwow, Wilno (Vilnius), and all of eastern Poland. Millions of Poles lost their homes, property and homeland, being relocated to former German territory.
