1. panicked? have no rules of engagement like the UN
observer ,   Egypt   (09.09.11)
U' Thant, the UN Secretary General in 1967, had to comply with the request to withdraw the UN observers because the force was stationed on Egyptian sovereign territory. But he also decided, on his own hook, to remove the Emergency Force from Sharm-el-Sheikh, which the Egyptians did not request. Once the fig leaf of the United Nations Emergency Force was removed from Sharm-el-Sheikh, Nasser had to close the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping for domestic political reasons. (Imagine what would happen today if an Iranian vessel sailed down the Saint Lawrence seaway into the Great Lakes and the United States government did nothing to stop and search it.). has anyone requested the report of the Multinational Force & Observers (MFO) stationed in the Egypt's leased Tiran Island. During the latest border skirmish, the MFO in Sinai reported that Israel breached the treaty twice; when troops crossed border and when shooting Egypt's soldiers.
2. Barak wake up!
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (09.09.11)
3. to #1....dear egyptian observer....
valentina ,   israel   (09.09.11)
considering that egyptians themselves entered israel through the sinai and killed our citizens, i'm pretty sure that means egypt breached the treaty first, which is why your smartass government decided to quickly retract their demand for an apology. You should be thanking us for not doing more damage after what egyptians tried to do to us and not apologising after being so quick to deman apologies from us.
4. Thank G-d
Adam Neira ,   Melb, Australia   (09.09.11)
Thank G-d the Israelis were released unharmed. There must be a time in the future when all citizens of the State of Israel will be able to travel the world in relative safety.
5. I would not like to have those cowards as guards.
Vardina   (09.09.11)
6. to #5 The guards should have thrown
jason white ,   afula, israel   (09.09.11)
themselves overboard instead. I work in security and I would die before I gave up my pistol.
7. That explains
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (09.09.11)
That explains who is behind the somali pirates.
8. #3 where there any non-Israelis' bodies caught by Israel
observer ,   Egypt   (09.09.11)
Israel have been and is being breaching the Treaty. Is Israel keeping limited military presence in Area D east of the border? Is there any MFO's report on that? I'll answer in one word: NEVER, because Israel's leaders are parading massing troops on the border. harsh reality.
9. #6
jj   (09.09.11)
i dont doubt it. which makes this story a little fishy. Ilan Grapel is held indefinitely for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and 4 israeli men who dump their arms overboard in the middle of the sea as soon as egyptian authorities come near are released after a "routine" check. im not one to feed conspiracy theories, but i imagine there is far more at play here.
10. Egypt should apologize .
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.09.11)
RIGHT , Mr. bouncer ?!
11. not going to be pretty
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.09.11)
In 1992, Rabin said Israel's security situation was so strong that Israel could take risks for peace. 20 years on and we see that Rabin was wrong. Egypt planning to close the Tiran straits and Turkey planning to send warships into Israeli waters, both acts of war. Sinai a staging area for land attacks. Gaza and Hezbolla with at least 60000 rockets, maybe more, to attack Israel's civilian population. Fatah commanding the 10000 - 20000 strong Dayton's army near Israel's heartland. But worst, Israel is lead by the spineless Netanyahu and the criminally incompetent Barak. It isn't going to be pretty.
12. #10 cause Israel evaded apology by alleging it civilian ship
observer ,   Egypt   (09.09.11)
had the agents on the ship entered Egypt, Mossad would have claimed it successful op, another Lavon op. The ship entered Egypt's territorial waters, otherwise its guards wouldn't have thrown weapons overboard. The agents were professionals judged by their full explanation of their work routine, so they knew for sure they were in Egypt's territorial waters, NOT like the Marmara in international waters. The Egyptians could have killed everybody on board of the ship, but they invited them to dinner in Sharm El-Shielh. Egypt (Mitzarim) has given Israel the lesson.
13. Nothing to see here! Move along.
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (09.09.11)
It's only Israeli mercenaries, with insufficient baksheesh, returning home by an alternate or well travelled drug smuggling route.
14. #5 Vardina - How brave would you be
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.09.11)
if you only had small arms and the other guys has machine guns ? Discretion is the better part of Valor NON-OBSERVER, always with his Observtions, that he has never Observed in person, all he does is scrounge the web for them, without dropping a bead of sweat int he process

BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.09.11)
When you're outgunned, you would die if you didn't give up your pistol You can fire a shot at a time, they can fire in bursts, you would be down before you had a chance to use your pistol, besides, they can hit from a greater distance than your pistol can 50-75 yds. or so, maximum, for your handgun, a couplle of hundred or better, with accuarcy for a AK or M16 Ekdach vx Roveh, no comparison
17. #8 blindman
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.09.11)
The only "harsh reality" is that you know nothing of what you are talking about. It's called 'bubemeises', fantasies.
18. to #16 You really think the gypts are so
jason white ,   afula, israel   (09.09.11)
stupid as to open fire on a civilian ship? Wouldn't they have to board the vessel to see the pistols. So much for range. You never surrender or throw away your weapon!
19. #12 - be afraid...be very afraid....
William ,   Israel   (09.09.11)
Don't be surprised that the Mossad will come for you if your army continues to help Gazan terrorists in the Sinai and weapons smugglers into Gaza. We'll clean out the Sinai ourselves if you don't do it, but if we do it, it will be up to the Nile.
20. #13 - israelis as drug smugglers...
William ,   Israel   (09.09.11)
if true, why is it always the Beoduins, "palestinians" and Lebanese getting arrested for drug smuggling from Baaka Valley to Sharm El-Sheik? I'm not trying to say look at the very real connection between all these folks, but it is interesting. Starts with an "A", ends with a "B".
21. #18 - never underestimate the depravity of Arabs...
William ,   Israel   (09.09.11)
Egyptians routinely fire on unarmed Sudanese refugees without remorse or care. These are the people who claim Israelis send trained sharks to Sinai and hurt Egypt's fertility. They're not playing with a full deck, if you know what I mean.
22. William #19, Liberal Jew = arrogant one
observer ,   Egypt   (09.09.11)
J street does not favor cutting Western funding to Palestinians should they proceed with the UN bid. Egypt has warned Israel of any attack on Gaza because of the UNSCR 1860 (2009).
23. #21 Mossad agents were feeding the shark in Egypt's waters?
observer ,   Egypt   (09.09.11)
24. #1 blindman
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.10.11)
This is one of your old posts. Nasser did NOT close the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping "for domestic political reasons." He closed it because he seeked the destruction of Israel. Closing it was an Act of War. In addition, the Israelis crossed the border 'in hot pursuit' of the terrorists, as did the US into Cambodia during the Vietnam war, as did any protagonists in all wars. And there is no proof that the Israelis were the ones who shot the Egyptian soldiers. Get a life.
25. #12, #13 See Post #17. Repeat.
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.10.11)
26. #18 Jason - They were stupid enough
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.10.11)
to start how many wars? They could have seen the pistols with a pair of cheap Mishkafeh Saadeh You must believe that with your pistol that you're John Wayne re-incarnated "Never throw away or give up" you won't have to, they'll take if from your fingers after you've been outgunned
27. #22 non-observer
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.10.11)
"J" street does not represent mainstream Jewry, they're funded and sponsored by George Soros They're as representative of Jewry as you are of ever having ever witnessed anything you write about
28. #23 non-observer
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.10.11)
Yuo saw the sharks being fed ? If not, jump in and feed them, then for once in your life, you will be able to say you had some hands on (then off) experience!
29. #16 Salma - I know why you're so bitter
