31. Obama, the harbringer of Daniel's 70th week
Bryan ,   St.Louis, USA   (09.16.11)
That's one heck of a legacy right there.
32. Will the UNSC support an admitted homophobic State?
GZLives   (09.16.11)
How is it even possible that the UN member states would go on record supporting an admitted anti Jewish anti homosexual State ? The US and all who believe in freedom, justice and all the so called platitudes the UN supposedly stands for should WALK OUT on this racist homophobic hatefest
33. Time to annex Samaria-make it a part of Israel
Galutia ,   selah   (09.16.11)
34. F instead P
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (09.16.11)
I suggest again to name the new state as FALESTINA, because ther is no "P" letter in the arabic language. Some contradiction when a nation is unable to pronounce its own name.
35. #11 what "Rights" and "Freedom" mean to the Palestinians
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.16.11)
Obviously you haven't been following this closely because you missed the part where the PA envoy to the U.S. declared that "Freedom" in Palestine means "Free of Jews" and "rights" means they still claim a "Right of Return" into Israel because no "refugees" will be given "Palestinian" citizenship.
36. Ludicrous
Guillermo ,   Austin, TX   (09.16.11)
Certainly, why not? Let's give full U.N. membership to a people that have been firing rockets into kibbutzes and sending suicide bombers on to buses and shopping malls. Israel obtained its statehood by peacefully lobbying the U.N., not through terror. The Palestinian leaders have never shown an inclination to accept their neighbor's right to exist, stop terrorist attacks against Israel, or accept international law. Just the kind of people you want to have a say in international affairs.
37. #10 they come with "demands" because we are their dhimmis
GZLives   (09.16.11)
We are descendants of apes and pigs, we are inferior to them and we have humiliated them by standing up fighting back and building a country far beyond any of their own despite all the oil wealth. They are enraged at the reality of all this. They are living impoverished, illiterate and ignorant. Perfect marks for the Mosques to fill them up with the usual scapegoat excuse to explain away their miserable lives. When Islam allows its faithful to question its dogma, only then do these poor people have a chance at a decent life, otherwise all of us are in grave danger of their "Jihad"
38. No! No ! No!
Sami   (09.16.11)
it would only harm Israel sooner or later! I stand for Israel !!
39. cant trust a word Abbas says
zionist forever   (09.16.11)
Not long ago in his attempt to convince the world and Israel's left how committed he was to peace he said he would let settlers live in the palestinian state but as palestinian citizens. Now he knows the UN General Assembly agrees to any demand he makes he has decided the palestinian state which is going to be secular and recognise all religions he has now announced the palestinian state should be Jew free. How long before he decides the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem should be Jew free if the UN agrees that east Jerusalem should be the capital of the PLO state. One minute he is saying we know we can't have a full right of return but then on other days he is saying we will not compromise on right of return. He is right that Obama wanted to see a palestinian state but that was through negotiation. Obama spent his first two years punishing Israel when Abbas refused to talk because he was making pre conditions he knew Bibi could never deliver. Even when Bibi offered him a ten month building freeze to entice Abbas into talks he refused and just made up new pre conditions to avoif talks. When the ten month freeze was over Abbas said there would be no talks until settlement building stopped. When are the arabs going to stop damaging their own cause? 1917 - Balfour Decleration Jews would have a homeland as a tiny minority in what was effectively an arab state and zionism was only a small movement at the time. 1948 Partition - arabs were offered a state in 45% of mandate Palestine and the arabs living in israel would be allowed to stay and there would be no right of return. 1999 - Barak offered Arafat just about everything except right of return but once again the arabs rejected it The territory Israel liberated in 1967 is just 22% of mandate Palestine. 2008 - 2011 - Obama has been going all out to get Abbas a state through negotiation and despite the fact that for the first time since Jimmy Carter the US president was on the side of the arabs and had no love for Israel. Today Obama is in an election campaign and can no longer help him so Abbas blew a good thing. We should award Arafat & Abbas a joint Nobel Prize for stupidity.
40. Israel
Andrew Knappe ,   U S A   (09.16.11)
Stand firm. The Lord is your shepherd. Obama and Abbas are chaff in the wind.
41. Abbas: Palestinians want full UN membership
Augusto ,   Porto   (09.16.11)
See that guy's face looks like the same as the others. See his brain? the same as the others if approached.
42. ab ass
Matt ,   miami usa   (09.16.11)
On NPR he stated they were the only people under occupation. If they would have negotiated instead of an end run they would have had there bankrupt state in 93. The Pals have received more money than all the other refugee movements combined some $150 bl. Are Tibetans under occupation??
43. delusions....
Todd P. ,   Manchester, NH USA   (09.16.11)
Abbas and the Palestinian leadership have to be taking hallucinagens. There is NO WAY that the U.S. will allow this terrorist-fronted group to become an OBSERVING member, never mind a full member. As soon as Abbas, etc., OPENLY embrace the idea of Israel's existence, they will get serious consideration. NOT before.....
44. Say NO to terrorists
Alex Winter ,   NYC   (09.16.11)
Why should terrorists have a say at the UN?
45. #5 and #9 c'mon...
Jimmy ,   Texas   (09.16.11)
you do have a place to call home...it's called "Jordan"...that's the best we can do for your big ole group of UN welfare addicts. Now stop whining and take your medicine.
46. Dear Z, #28 Chicago: I write this in
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (09.16.11)
disagreement with you avowing that you are a supporter of our state. Without our villages and towns in Shomrun and Yehuda, we are at a giant security risk. The hills provide defence in a country, as you well know, thin as a ribbon in some places. There have been articles on this subject written by experts, some appearing in Ynet. A second reason for keeping our land in these two regions is the religious one. I suppose you, yourself, are not especially aware but consider the fact that the lands of Shomrun and Yehuda were the same places trod by our forefathers. I reside in Tekoa. Our ancient prophet, Amos, also resided there. Hebron, for which we continue to fight, was the home (paid for) by Abraham and the Cave of the Patriarchs is there. When Jordan ruled there and in Jerusalem, our holy sites were desecrated. This may not mean much to you but it does to the religious core of the community of Israel including, but not limited to, a number of proud Jews residing east of the Green Line now. Besides all the above, each time we have relinquished territory we have won in war, something bad has come of it. Arab Muslims want nothing less than our extinction. Abbas, himself, was the terrorist mastermind of the Munich Olympics. The Hamas Charter also makes it clear. Please review and make your conclusions accordingly. Thank you.
47. Abbas will declare Palestine with 1947 border
palestine Hawk ,   alqods   (09.16.11)
Then will negotiate for 1967 border Oslo was dead baby its A Joke that EU ,the US and israel played on the palestinian To come late better than never but a real palestine state about to emerge
48. Khalifate of Lunatics
Gabe ,   Canada   (09.16.11)
I support the creation of a Balestinian State on the hidden side of the Moon.
49. I have a painting of God knocking on the outside of the UN
Galutia ,   selah   (09.16.11)
implying no-one inside is listening... the Book of Books councils against the dividing of Israel (book of Joel) and that jerusalem would become a cup of trembling for the nations in the laterdays...yes The nations can ignore his council....but be prepared for what God is about to bring about on this earth....
50. #7 - Joe: "all they want is a place called home"
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.16.11)
No! All they want is to get rid of Israel and the Jews! Haven't you heard Hammas yet? They declared it loud and clear. Many times. They will never recognize Israel and they want all Jews to be killed. That is what they clearly say. At least they are honest, and don't play games like Abbas. Wake up Joe!
51. Seeking A Palestinian State
Jerry ,   QT- USA   (09.16.11)
Abbas said: "We are not going to annul Israel's legitimacy," he said. "Nobody can annul Israel's legitimacy. It's a recognized state," he said. "We wish to isolate Israel's policy." Finally, the Truth ... Bibi and all Jews who believe in YWHW should call upon the name of the LORD ... He said when you would do that as a nation, that He would come back to rescue you. Well, do you believe? Was YWHW lying, or telling the Truth? If not, this road is not headed for Peace; rather, this road is going to be extremelt rough for the next 7 years; your real enemy has been in waiting for 6 millennia ... and he is here now, what will you do O Israel?
52. #19 - except that, its already been decided
William ,   Israel   (09.16.11)
The US promised to veto it, and veto it they shall. If the PLO refuses to abide by the Oslo Accords of which they signed, governing refugees, water and borders, then that eliminates Israel's obligations to them. Which means - Israel can revert to the 1949 Armistice Agreement which states the cease-fire lines can NOT be used as a border nor shall be used as a basis for negotiations on borders. In addition to UNR242, that negates 1967 borders as valid. Israel can turn off the tap and end water, fuel, and electricity deliveries to both regions. and Refugees? Guess how hard it will be to convince the world to give the a State, then demand that 5 million "of their own people" go live in a neighboring State. Already the EU has shown they can't support that, either morally or legally. Ergo - to spite his face, Abbas lost the opportunity to negotiate for a final settlement, all to keep the option of destroying Israel.
53. #30 - the world has changed in 63 years
William ,   Israel   (09.16.11)
while your mind has stood still. In 1948, most land was not private and the land Israel was created on (which included mostly Jewish land purchased, with resulting land deeds) was neither sovereign nor negated the private ownership rights of people. In 2011, the land "Palestine" would be created on is disputed land, that which still has no set ownership since 1948, when Jordan illegally annexed it. Most private land was ethnically cleansed of its Jewish population and stolen which adds a degree of complication. In 1967, the UNR242 declared the land "disputed" (not occupied), and called for a return to a safe border (not 1967, which would be a violation of the 1949 Armistice Agreement). Adding more complication to the matter. Finally, Arabs demand a "palestinian" State which they say the absence of is the reason for hostility - yet, they claim once they get a State, they will continue attacking Israel and trying to ethnically cleanse it of Jews. In 63 years, Arab racist terror hasn't subsided, and neither has their support from uber-Leftists in the Western world like you. How ironic.
54. Sure, Obama endorsed a "Palestinian" State
William ,   Israel   (09.16.11)
but not in place of Israel, and not through any means other than negotiations for a lasting peace. Did you forget that part of the speech, Abbas? It's the same thing the West and Israel has been saying for years.
55. boiling the frog
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.16.11)
The 'boiling the frog' in the waters of a Trojan peace (Israel) is just different approach to erasing Israel than Amadinejad's but even more effective as the Jews are instrumental in their own national suicide. Israel see's what has been going on for decades and still goes along because they would rather please EVIL men than God. That and fear of man are the sin of Israel. This phony peace process was always doomed to fail from day 1 because Israel left God's unchanged command to Israel out of the peace process. 'You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods. They shall not live in your land, because they will make you sin against Me.' Exodus 23 Will you ever learn ? His word stands and Israel suffers for ignoring it and him.
56. Just more Islamofacism
Tim Dearman ,   Fairfax   (09.16.11)
The irony, Arafat turned down an offer that would have created the Palestinian state. Furthermore, in the Gerrymandering of the Middle East by the UK, France and Dutch after the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, did in fact create a de facto Palestinian state - it is called Jordan! ...despite Jordan's refusal to acknowledge the fact with their autocratic rule! Now, as they declare that their state will be "Jew Free", Israel should immediately adopt the same stated policy of the Palestinians and immediately close ALL checkpoints and refuse enter to ALL Muslims who are dependent upon Israel for employment and then watch as the Palestinians howl in protest over their "we can make the rules but we don't have to follow them" mentality. Funny how the US is expected to provide the foundation for economic aide to SO many Arab nations, but the Arabs don't do squat to support their "own people" as they follow their 8th century tribal orientation - all the while demanding to be accepted into modern society while they meanwhile do NOTHING to build an economy and an infrastructure in their slum where the only skills learned are bomb making..
57. #7 - Joe
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.16.11)
Just read #5. It proves my point that they don't just want "a place called home" they want ALL Israel!
58. #7 Joe - Error
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.16.11)
I meant for you to read #9 not #5.
59. ZionistForever: Jordan is Palestine
Noah Lev ,   hollywood,causa   (09.16.11)
To Zionist Forever: how dare you tell the truth? As my Christian friends say, 'the truth shall set you free". in this case, the UNGA might contradict the quote from the bible. Look everything you say is correct, but the Arabs/Palestinians/Muslim worlds do what they PLEASE. Agreements, and cease fires, AND treaties, mean zilch to them. Yet they perservere. He damands a state to the 67 "borders", (cease fire lines). Oh me oh my! And how many tanks does he have to enforce anything the UN does? He knows damn well, the consequences of forcing the issue on Israel. and he is counting on it, if all else fails. Its called PR. The real question for me is, what does Bibi have in mind? We know that if Avi were PM, or A. Sharon, Abbas would think twice. But Bibi, waffles..sort of like Obama. Obama could have said: talks, with no pre-conditions on anyones part..the borders negotiated, using the 67 lines as reference only...we will push for the right of return as NOT a right), ONLY to the new state, and or Jordan, the real Palestine. But at Camp David, Israel made an offer, and there was no counter. They could have hada state in 48, and all this would have never happened. Millions of Muslims today would be concentrating on building their state. They have the funding, or the promise of same. They have the support of most of the world, and dozens of Muslim countries. Even the US is supporting (now) a Pals state. Can we all imagine if only in 48? Abbas, like Arafat, smells blood. He sees Israel divided, in chaos. He sees the Diaspora Jewry also split...some Jews believing they (Pals) really do want peace. In fact, Hamas/Hez/Iran/Muslim Brotherhood/Islamic Jihad, and a dozen more groups are al least honest. Iran says we Jews started all the wars..I guess we dictated our own Holocaust? WW1 and 2 started by Jews? Did we also start the Vietnam and Korean Wars. I suppose he is also referring to the wars in Iraq and Afghan and now in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and Syria? After all, we Jews smell oil. Look, this is the same tired arguments used since 1929. The Arabs cannot tolerate Jews..especially in their midst. Its like a supv once told me, "they (the gentiles) do not want you working here". It took me a while before I understood. They want Palestine Judenfrei, (Jew free). They want to "eliminate" we Jews from the area. If THEY (Pals)had the tanks, planes, ships, etc..and nukes, they would use them against us. The other countries have them now, in spades. Yet, too many of our own people believe peace will come when Israel acuiesces to their demands in full. Yes, peace wil lcome for a while, until t he rocketsstart falling on TelAviv, Haifa, etc., or when Iran gets the bomb. From JSt, to Peace Now, to other so called peace groups...we are a divided people..being fooled again by "Work makes free", this time, a Pales state will bring peace. Our fight is more with our own than with the Arabs. Prior to and duringWW2, our Jewish scientists were working on a weapon...they shoudl have told Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill, that when we win the war...well, you know where Im heading. Obama is playing both sides on everything..from the economy to foreign relations. Thomas Friedman and Jewish liberals think his foreign policy is great. Wah? The Jewish Democrats in Congress applaud his econimic stimulus and taxing the wealth. Wah? While the above is obvious, the rest of the country is angry, real angry at him and his defeatest policies (see Syria). Oh he is clever...pushing successes in Libya..a country of 6m, populated by tribes..with lots of land and oil..and not liked by the Arab League, hence their disenfranchisement. In Queens/Brooklyn, the Orthodox Jews handed the Republicans a victory, thanks to Obamas policies. His reps tell Israel that the USA cares. After all, we are financing the anti-missile missiles and once there is peace..those F35Eagles. Our approach: Jordan IS Palestine.
60. Two States
Kim walker ,   Denver, USA   (09.16.11)
Likudniks area ideas end in history. Two peoples, two states. there is no other way. Ultimately, friends and a force for what is good in the neighborhood. Can the racist, stiff necks who decided it was a good idea to build Scarsdale amongst the poor and dispossessed not see this? Netanyahu is both crooked and blind. I understand the 'escape from Auschwitz with our asses on fire' paradigm. I am also one of those. But I am also an inheritor or Micah: do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with your god. Where is the justice? Where is the mercy? Is it walls? Is it the rejection of our sisters and our brothers? Is that what we should allow Judaism to become? Two states, side by side, in friendship- now. Maybe even a little integration, a little intermarriage, a little love... A little conversation in the parlor of history. Why, I ask, is that not the peopler way forward?
