1. Why India?
Henry from New York ,   USA   (09.20.11)
I don't quite get why India would be supporting the Palestinian bid? Could be a lie of course.
2. Pals for US veto

ed ,   usa   (09.20.11)
It is a proven fact that there are: 70% - hate jews 15% - normal 15% - not sure
8. #5 don't be sure
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.20.11)
Netanyahu must have promised Obama something in exchange for the veto. The fact is if Netanyahu promised Obama to keep Barak as DM, to form a coalition with Zippy or to extend the racist building freeze in Jerusalem Abbas will have won. We will know for sure only after the veto if it happens. If Netanyahu sends Abbas packing for violating the Oslo accords, you are right.
9. #2 Correct assessment, spot on
Nour ,   One-State   (09.20.11)
The strategy of Palestine is to gain independence through the UN mechanism, while exposing the US of Israel as a fraud and biased mediator. Congratulations, you have a brain.
10. #5 We might not get the land on October 1st...but...
Nour ,   One-State   (09.20.11)
The International Criminal Court, Court of Justice, and numerous other bodies, will open cases brought forth against the Apartheid State. Stay tuned for some very painful sanctions.
11. Partition Imminent
Lynx ,   Palestine   (09.20.11)
12. #1, i don't get it either
Danny   (09.20.11)
India should be a state that is immune to Muslim pressure and Israel has good links. The others are simply tinpot dictators.
13. people keep saying more than
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (09.20.11)
people keep mentioned these few days about how long the Pals have been "waiting" since 1964's PLO creation, ... since 1974's observer state, since Madrid's 1991, and the Oslo.... as if the Main and Most important reason is that THEY HAVE WAITED TOO LONG... they have whitewash away all that Israel has ever did, ever sacrificed for the "toilet paper treaty" with Egypt, Jordan, and even given Gaza away without any "toilet paper treaty" with palis. an irritating arab from some Islamic League attending UN even comment just on FOX that we owe it to Israel since 1947... excuse me, what 1947? what about the world owe it to the Jews since 70 AD, a good 1900 plus years of waiting for a Jewish state, that Abbas still denying acknowledging it now! if Palis want their state, they can have it right now, they can have the whole MOON for their state! UN is pathetic!
14. VOTE FOR A PAL STATE?
tony ,   nigeria   (09.20.11)
THE BEGINNING OF THE FALL PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN. kICKING AGAINST HASHEM IS A DANGEROUS DRIFT.
15. So long as the PLO adheres to the essence of its Charter,...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.20.11)
... etched deep in the hearts and minds of its leaders, there is little chance of ever reaching an accommodation of peaceful coexistence with the Arabs of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel). And, sadly, the thrust of the PLO Charter is the motivating factor in the PLO's attempt to fool all of the world all of the time. To avoid this predicament we must do three things: 1. Read the Charter and understand the PLO's goal. 2. Realize that legally, based on the San Remo Conference decisions, 1920, accepted by the League of Nations, 1922, the entire land mass between the River and the Sea was designated as the national home of the Jewish people, and the UN, based on its Charter, can't change this. 3. Any political accommodation that we reach must include an acceptance by the PLO of Israel as the independent nation-state of the Jewish people; and, an acceptance that a peace treaty represents the end of the conflict and the end of all future demands.
16. I HAVE A REALLY GREAT IDEA
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.20.11)
Let any Nation that wants the "Palestinian's" to have a homeland, invite them to take some of theirs
17. #1: India's leaders are craven.
Steve   (09.20.11)
Despite all the Muslim terror in India, Indians tell me thier politicians bow to the will of the large Muslim minority still living in India.
18. Obama does not want to go on record.
Steve   (09.20.11)
If there is a majority in the Security Council in support of a Muslim state, dedicated to Israel's destruction, Obama will be compelled to veto rather than abstain. That is why Obama has been working feverishly to get enough votes in order to avoid vetoing the resolution. Naturally, he (Hussein Obama) would prefer to abstain in order to maintain what little prestige he has left in the Muslim world; among his own people.
19. @1: Why, Henry?
It's all a lie!   (09.20.11)
Why would anybody accuse the 'Palestinians' of telling a lie?
20. A joke called the UN
Tambour ,   Eilat   (09.20.11)
Gabon, Columbia, Lebanon, Portugal , South Africa ( Durban fame), Bosnia, Gernmany, Nigeria are 8 of the members out of 15 : Why would any of these heaviweight powers vote for the Jewish state?
21. God owns Israel
Nancy ,   Germany/US   (09.20.11)
Every nation signing this bid, will sign Joel 3:2 Don't worry, little Israel! Am Yisrael Chai! (the Almighty said so)
22. We should annex our liberated land
jason white ,   afula, israel   (09.20.11)
We waited 2000 years to get our land back.We now find that illegal arab settlers want it. We should use force to remove them now. abb-ass is a president that had his term run out long ago. We should also cut aid to all the countries that support this. No more aid to africa. As for so. africa, too bad the arpartheid regime did not last forever!
23. #16
(09.20.11)
Why didnt the same thing happen in November 1947 then when the UN voted to establish the State of Israel. They are doing this the legitimate way, not through terror, but through diplomacy and politics, the way Independence is to be won.
24. Palestinians will not get something for nothing
Stephen in New York   (09.20.11)
Palestinian responsibilities are seldom mentioned. What do the Palestinians have to do in order to make an agreement possible? Have the Palestinians no responsibility for their fate?
25. #10 - which opens your leadership up to war crimes
William ,   Israel   (09.20.11)
Sure, bring Israel to the ICJ. Guess who in your govt becomes targets for war crimes through terrorism, ethnic cleansing, and theft? ALL of them! Kuwait had the right idea when they dropped their lawsuit against Israel regarding the Mavi Marmara, and Turkey has backpeddled on that threat. The ICJ has never deliberated on the status the West Bank, they only offered an advisory position. Just wait until a forced deliberation is reality and the 1920 San Remo Agreement and 1922 Balfour Declaration are introduced, as well as Turkish land records, British evidence on illegal Arab immigration in the 1930s, the 1949 Armistice agreement forbidding the use of the cease-fire line as a border or basis for negotiations, and the forced immigration of Arabs into the West Bank by Jordan to populate Jewish property. It's an open season shit-fest, and Abbas just opened the can.
26. #11 - so is the end to any Pally demands on Israel
William ,   Israel   (09.20.11)
demands for infrastructure, commodities like electricity and petrol, a land bridge between Gaza and West Bank, and any claim for right of return....G-O-N-E. You're welcome to the land of Gaza and the West Bank sans the major settlement blocks.
27. Here's what it comes down to, and what Israel faces
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.20.11)
The Arab League has 22 members, the OIC has 57 members. Israel has 1 vote in the UN. Israel's Jews are outnumbered almost 50 to 1 by Arabs. Jews worldwide are outnumbered 100 to 1 by Muslims. Even in Europe Jews are outnumbered 20 to 1 by Muslims. Israel has little oil, and not even enough gas (yet) to export, while the Palestinians' patrons have both in abundance. Even Israel's "close allies" put their greater interests ahead of Israel's. India? It has the second highest number of Muslims, after Indonesia, and gets much of her oil from Iran.
28. #1 after partition, wars between India & Pakistan are differ
observer ,   Egypt   (09.20.11)
there is no occupation there, but Israel's expansionism is solely based on step-by-step occupation.
29. @28
Daniel Teeboom ,   Netherlands   (09.21.11)
Kashmir
30. Have the Palestinians no responsibility for their fate?
(09.21.11)
If Israel wants to remain democratic and Jewish it will have to separate from the Palestinians. If a one state solution evolves as events unfold, either Israeli Jews will become a minority in a Palestinian state –with all the consequences that implies- or Israel will rule over a disenfranchised Palestinian community and cease to be a democracy. At the same time, Palestinian responsibilities are seldom mentioned. What do the Palestinians have to do in order to make an agreement possible? Have the Palestinians no responsibility for their fate?
