31. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.21.11)
What, do you think you are posting to imbeciles? Get over it. The fact of the matter is that Turkey receives USD 2.5 billion annually in aid from the United States and 2.0 billion euro anually in aid from the EU annually. The figures from the United States do NOT include the fees Turkey collects for NATO bases on Turkish soil. Good luck with the Russians, by the way. The only reason they haven't collapsed into total anarchy is because the United States is supporting their economy. Capitalism hasn't worked so well in the former Soviet Union. When the U.S. cuts them off -- as well as Turkey (that's coming, actually) -- you and the Russians can sit around a campfire holding hands and sing "Kumbaya," or "Kalinka," or whatever the hell it is the Russians sing these days. Being Turkish, you can just whirl around like a dervish.
32. WATCH OUT US TAX PAYERS!
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (09.21.11)
Obama is going to hand out YOUR cash to Erdogan. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
33. Has anybody noticed how Ahmet Davutoglu
john   (09.21.11)
smile is wiped out of his face?it look like from the above picture he is a broken man and being consoled by his master Erdogan.Oh well that's should teach him not to step on Israel's foot and to stop being so arrogant.
34. Sarah B in fantasy land as usual
marc   (09.22.11)
it is becoming rather amusing to read Sarah B's version of reality which is based very soundly on what she wishes were true rather than what actually is true.
35. #18 - Turkish economy grew artificially
William ,   Israel   (09.22.11)
the demand for consumer goods which drove the economy came from easy credit offered by the govt to the public to consume. It's a common method for boosting the economy in the near term but only works if future revenues through taxes and trade are realized. Turkey has over-stepped that threshold and the economies that Turkey relies on in Europe and the US are hurting, meaning Turkey will end up hurting. Greece, Italy and Ireland were considered ok until EU went down.
36. #20 - "Turkey doesn't want to be in EU"
William ,   Israel   (09.22.11)
then why does Turkey keep submitting request for membership - so they can reject it the minute the EU says yes? Oh, such a heart breaker that Turkey. Sounds like Erdogan is the leader of a 16-year-old brat going through puberty. Any hoo - there is good reason the EU doesn't want Turkey as a member. Besides the influx of Turkish migrants (more than already) which would overwhelm Germany and Switzerland, and suck more resources out of the EU. So instead, Turkey is trying to rape Cyprus and Israel for their gas reserves.
37. To:No:34 and All
A Turkish Friend ,   Istanbul   (09.22.11)
I think too Marc. She -Sarah lives in an unreal world known in medicine as 'schizophrenia'. There will be even no war as she expects , There are economical and political interests which every country has to save.Relations will be repaired soon after Israeli FM has gone. His ultra right policy is harmfull to Israel. We love Israely people, they live here between us and no one of them has /will be harmed beleve me.
38. #4 - yeah, it's now BBB-
William ,   Israel   (09.22.11)
still a failing grade
39. #14 - Turkey cut trade with Israel...only military
William ,   Israel   (09.22.11)
meaning OUT-GOING cash. They are now in the US hoping for military handouts from NATO to cover it. Turkey's trade with Israel on consumer products and Turkish foreign workers in Israel were not touched. Turkey is also hoping to get a huge trade pact with Iran to the tune of several billions. For that, they sacrificed Israel. In addition, who wouldn't want a taste of that multi-billion energy field that belongs to Israel and Cyprus, and Turkey demands access to?
40. # 28 David
Emre ,   Istanbul   (09.22.11)
It depends from which side you look to the story David. We are the 6th biggest Economy in Europeand 15th in the world.Lokk China has a half GNP compared us and they rule the world. So it is sometimes not a matter of per capita. On the other hand i agree with you that i'm also a strong supporter of Ataturk's secular democracy and i have no hostility to any Israeli Citizen. I have worked about 2 years in Israel in Eczacıbası group and i have many friends in Israel that i see them time to time. There is no need to convert this issues into a hostility that give nothing to anyone. SUMMARY WE DO NOT LIKE YOUR GOVERNMENT YOU DO NOT LIKE ERDOGAN.
41. Biggest threat war with Cyprus and Israel over oil / gas
Sami ,   New York, USA   (09.22.11)
Erdogan wants to steal our oil / gas fields. And attack US oil drillers/ Noble Energy in the Med. Pretty dumb of Obama not to discuss this.
42. #19-somewhat like their history.
Ypip ,   Canada   (09.22.11)
Expedient, cunning, deceitful, opportunistic, amoral...defined as you know what...
43. Emre
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.23.11)
You are correct we don't like your AKP you don't like Israeli government. However In Israel people raise their voices in the streets about their displeasure for their leaders freely and one day change comes. In Turkey those few who have the courage to raise their voices are immediately silenced either by being sent to Silivri Jail or some illegally obtained telephone conversation or a sex video taken in the privacy of their home surfaces in the YANDAS MEDIA (Media supporting AKP). There is hope for for change in Israel. No hope seems to be available for Turkey. Cok uzgunum aziz dostum.
44. To # 37 To turkish friend [of Israel]
Mary ,   Greek Cyprus   (10.02.11)
You say [relations will be repaired soon after Israeli FM has gone] It would be more appropriate to say: [When the Master of inferiority complex Erdo will go away] Nobody is allowed to speak against him. I bet that if he could, he would prison each single person who opposed to him.
