if israel were reduced to a square mile in the desert, it would still not be enough. the palestinians want this country destroyed.
3. Negotiating...
Marcela Araújo ,   Brazil   (09.21.11)
... to understand each other thoughts and ponts-of-views. Negotiotions = conversation = dialogue
4. What do you suggest as an alternative?
Isaac Storm   (09.21.11)
Okay, what do you suggest as an alternative that would be acceptable to the world? The world does not believe (or claims that it does not believe) that the establishment of an Arab Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria and Gaza is a threat to Israel. They "say" Israel is paranoid or wrong or that "they will protect Israel" and that the Arab Palestinians "deserve" their own state. I am not agreeing with the world's claims; I am just saying what I have heard.
5. Israel must act like the legal owners we are..
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.21.11)
Dann is outstanding like usual. It is way past time to abandon the evil Two State Final Solution once and for all. Negotiating with the P.A. amounts to criminal negligence since the results are always massive Israeli casualties and rocket attacks. Israel's policy should be serving the U.N., all international media, governments and NGO's with incontrovertible legal proof Judea and Samaria are ours. We have this proof in enormous abundance. Plus massively building Judea and Samaria. We must act like the legal owners we are.
6. perfect, about time!

8. One option
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.21.11)
Fact one - all Arabs living in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem are JORDANIAN CITIZENS. Fact two - we have a peace treaty with Jordan and they renounced all claim to our land west of the River Jordan. Fact three - all countries in the world are allowed to return foreign citizens to their own country whenever that country decides and it is illegal under international law for a country not to allow their citizens back into their country. So the option is to point out international laws and deport the Jordanians back to Jordan.
9. Negotiated extinction !
Gabe ,   Canada   (09.21.11)
No one should ignore the Hamas charter. The PLO is just a tool for getting rid of Jews. Period.
10. Sounded great but what's the plan?
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (09.21.11)
11. I swear I've read this before
Someone ,   Somewhere   (09.21.11)
Honestly, twice a month there are articles here about "other options." The options are always ill-defined, nonsensical, or both. At least this one doesn't mention Indian reservations. The author claims a new paradigm can be created based on Jewish and Israeli sovereignty, while refuting charges of occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing. I challenge the author to explain HOW. If you have Jewish sovereignty over a few million non-sovereign, non-citizen Palestinians, you are never going to avoid claims of apartheid. If you try bribing or otherwise incentivise them to leave, you will not escape charges of ethnic cleansing (even if it is bloodless). If you give the Palestinians citizenship but put legal measures in place to make sure Jews remain in control, you will never escape charges of racism. On a positive note, I'm just glad the author acknowledges that lists of Israeli achievements don't convince anyone of anything. I am so tired of email forwards about cherry tomatoes and drip irrigation.
12. The only solution-as known to sane people for a decade
Avramele   (09.21.11)
The only solution is for the community of democratic nations to once and for all put on the table and promote with all their diplomatic muscle the obvious compromise. The Clinton/Obama plan based on land swaps with no right of return for refugees within the borders of the Jewish state; Aliyah for settlers on the wrong side of the border; demilitarization of Palestine; and and international presence in the Jordan valley; with special arrangements for an open city of Jerusalem - the Capitol of both states.
13. #11:
Israeli 2   (09.21.11)
You seem to be too pre-occupied with "charges of occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing" and what the world thinks of us. I am sick and tired of it and people like you. Wake up Somewhere - but wake up! We care about our survival and Israel is Israel for Jews forever.
14. To all of those who do not know what the
Israeli 2   (09.21.11)
alternative is. Jordan!
15. External factors leave 1 option: BIG ISRAEL
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (09.21.11)
16. Jordan is the first Pal state
mike ,   ta   (09.21.11)
what else would you call a country with 70-80% majority Pals? It's only a matter of time that the Pal masses will overthrow the Hashemite dicatorship. G-d forbid a second Pal state is formed.
17. alternatives
meira ,   TA   (09.22.11)
Judea and Samaria is now divided into 3 areas: A, B and C. A&B are 100% Arab, about a million, with Palestinian and/or Jordanian citizenship. In Area C there are 350,000 Jews and maybe 40,000 Arabs (no one knows). Israel could annex this area and give the Arab residents several choices of civil status.
18. Jordan is Palestine& I am willing to give shelter to Hussein
tom ,   tel aviv   (09.22.11)

19. Mordechai Kedar has the answer
Ari ben Canaan   (09.22.11)
Everyone, read about and promote Professor Mordechai Kedar's ten-state solution.
20. At this time, with so many views confronting
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (09.22.11)
us with respect to a Palestinian bid for independence, the UN and its fallout, I immediately opened the article by MOshe Dann who, I always find, to be so instructive, concise and very clear. The essence of what I distilled from his latest article is that it's about time that we (Israel) take the initiative as opposed to simply responding to what's going on around us. This means we need to become more purposeful than heretofore and bring our intentions to the fore. I think Professor Dann is correct.
21. #12 Avramele. Israel rejects your insane plan.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.22.11)
#12 Avramele. It's bad enough you constantly insult the intelligence of Israelis by offering a lunatic plan which woud destroy Israel within a decade. But your effrontery in pretending your insane plan is the only sane one tests the toleration of even the most enthusiastic free speech advocate. Which I am. Avramele, give it up. Israel rejects your insane plan. Surely you're aware of how Israel is voting leftist parties out of existence.
22. The solution is simple: BIG Israel and expel the Arabs...
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.22.11)
...from Israel, Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and Gaza. When that is done, annex Judea, Samaria and Gaza, seal the borders to Jordan and Egypt. When that is done - Israel must dismantle the lie and myth of "Palestine" and "Palestinians" - this true message must be hammered into heads of the human race 24/7 - in newspapers, in books, in magazines, on news channels, on radio, on the internet, at universities, on the street - everywhere all over the world - day and night. The truth must come out once and for all. On top of that, Israel should conquer Sinai, expel the local Arab population, and annex Sinai. Why? Why? Why? Because Egypt has lied to us. The agreement was land for peace. Egypt got land. Israel got no peace. If we get no peace - Egypt gets no land. And since we won the Sinai in 1956 and in 1967 in wars of self defense - Sinai rightly belongs to us. It provides us with a buffer zone against Egypt. It provides us with more land, more space and more natural resources. On top of that - parts of Sinai belonged to ancient Israel. Israel should also outlaw the principle "land for peace". The principles should be land for land, resources for resources, recognition for recognition and peace for peace.

24. Stop with slogans and read history and Bible
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto , Canada   (09.22.11)
IT's stiking when you visit USA how patriots Americans are and proud of all small bit of their history and heritage. On the land of Israel there is all the evidences of Jewish presence from the Bible until modern times. Despites the enormous destruction done by Romans , Cruciades, Muslems the evidence are visible and ready for exploration. To call apartheid because the desire to revive and keep yours heritage is cheap slogan and no has any academic, political and social reality equivalance which reflect the reality. Please educate yourself , because your remaks spell hate which I hope is from ignorance.
25. #22
Bertram ,   London, UK   (09.22.11)
It is tempting to treat Alexander seriously but like so many temptations it should be resisted. I must therefore conclude that it is a left-wing satirical intervention designed to discredit the Israeli right-wing.

BASIMA ,   JERUSALEM   (09.23.11)
BUT HISTORY IS ABOUT THE PAST // ... IS BIBLE ABOUT THE PAST ONLY ???
27. #24
J   (09.23.11)
the romans and cruciades did destroy our temples and villages but suprisingly enough not the muslims...they actually let us freely practice our rituals without any interferrence...those who claim otherwise are those who like to tell history their way in order to justify our opression of muslims...seems like you're the one who needs to get a little more educated...open up your mind a little, and it's time for you to look at alternative reading material instead of the rhetoric you're used to.
28. Arab reply.
Gabe ,   Canada   (09.23.11)
I have talked to Arabs about peace. Each and every one of them, without exception assured me that there will never be peace with the Jews. Ever. So, we are fooling only ourselves. Fatal mistake.
29. 100% Correct
