1. Very, very good news. Young couples of Jerusalem need more
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.27.11)
available housing and these apartment units will provide some assistance.
2. THANK YOU ABBAS FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!
styde ham   (09.27.11)
given the absolute fog of the abbas vision as so clearly demonstrated by his world stage posture israel obviously has nothing further to say to the pa. consequently, the decision to buils is a no-brainer and very very welcome! BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
3. Mazel Tov!
Bad assed Jew. ,   United States   (09.27.11)
BUILD BABY BUILD ANNEX BABY ANNEX!!!!! ( makes the pals pay a price)
4. your greatgreatgreatgreat........grandfather land so......
China ,   Tasmania   (09.27.11)
you do not owe anyone in the world an annoucement....built and cover all end
5. # 2
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (09.27.11)
Abbas made this possible? Gee, all the illegal settlement activity before this must have been because Abbas went to the UN. Who knew?
6. Settlements
fair is fair ,   Derry, NH   (09.27.11)
Good...why is it always one sided. Why do Israelis have to stop building, but NO ONE demands that Palestinians stop building. If the land is truly disputed as "the world" says...then why does "the world" allow Palestinian building in Judea and Samaria (ie-West Bank) but not Israel. Israel stops, when the Palestinians stop building.
7. #2, haha. seriously?
jj   (09.27.11)
you make it seem as though Israel is doing this in response to the actions of the PA. listen, regardless of who says/does/doesnt do what, Israel will continue to build in accordance with the plan to "settle" all of the westbank. people who tie the success/failure of talks with the Israeli government to the construction of houses over the green line are either idiots or completely disingenuous. which one are you? the fact that the government has managed to make people believe that one is contingent upon the other is a laudable adventure in misdirection.
8. I hope the social protest crowd are offered deep discounts
steve from raleigh   (09.27.11)
Either they'll take the offer and become Israelis with skin in the game or they won't & we get to see them for the anti Israel posers they are.
9. More housing on stolen land ,...
split ,   US   (09.27.11)
10. BY THEIR FRUITS THEY SHALL BE KNOWN
Joyce ,   Jerusalem   (09.27.11)
BIBI, THANKS FOR CLEARING THE MINDS OF THE DOUBTING THOMASES, I SAY BIBI IS THE MOST PEACEFUL MAN I HAVE EVER SEEN.
11. BUILD ISRAEL BUILD
tony   (09.27.11)
Build Israel build. You are fulfilling the divine plan of the Almighty God. It is an illusion and joke of the century for any one to think that Jerusalem would be divided. It is very very very very very very very very very very very very very impossible, and any one doing/pushing such is challenging the authority of heaven and courting the wrath of the Man of War, the Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent God, the Ancient of Days, and the God of Battle.
12. JUST DO IT
Rachel ,   USA   (09.27.11)
It is time for Israel to legally annex Judea & Samaria & all of Jerusalem in response to the Palestinians' breaching the agreement of the Oslo accord, Abass presenting a unilateral bid to the United Nations. Israel should act speedily and decisively.
13. All Forward Motion is Backward
Dan ,   Florida   (09.27.11)
For the past 64 years the Palestinians may have had a contiguous State alongside a prosperous, ethical and monotheistic Jewish State of Israel. Instead, having been kept ignorant by self serving "religious" leaders who promised the destruction of Jews, Israel and the retaking of land. Never were the Palestinians promised a state by anyone. Now the only contiguous state available to them is on the East Bank and they should take it before Jordan kicks them in the teeth too.
14. Gilo building
Alice ,   Montreal Canada   (09.27.11)
It's our Land. We must build and expand to make room for the Jewish People. Healthy Happy Sweet Peaceful New Year
15. Another Thumb-in-the-Eye ...
American Jew ,   New Jersey, USA   (09.27.11)
this makes sense 4Israel? Not smart. This continues to lead to inevitable catastrophe driven by these types of looong time arrogant, immoral, injust and corrupt behaviours inconsistent with Judaism. Even we Americans, Israel's sole benefactor, r outraged & will inevitably discontinue enabling these ignorant, despicable behaviours.
16. Add another 1100 every time Abbas
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.27.11)
opens his mouth
17. Even in Mexico, happy to hear good news!
Alejandro Ramos ,   Mexico City   (09.27.11)
After so many days reading about "the palestinian theater of absurd" it is good to know such good news! God Bless Israel!!!
18. Jerusalem Homes
max ,   washington dc   (09.27.11)
Building Homes for People in the Jewish Capital is constructive while firing missiles on civilians daily from Gaza is destructive!
19. Oh yes!
Birdi ,   Israel   (09.27.11)
This is the only way in which to answer Abbas. Build, build & build more.
20. Jerusalem neigborhood Gilo
Avi ,   Jerusalem   (09.27.11)
The new housing construction in Gilo, the southern suburb of Jerusalem, should be encouraged and soon realized. It has never been the Palestinian land, but was liberated from the occupying Jordanian forces in 1967. Gilo is not situated in "east Jerusalem" and is and will always be the integral part of the united Jerusalem!
21. happy New Year
Rahel   (09.27.11)
and a Happy New Year to all, and continuing trouble- this is bad timing Israel. Some people just are not diplomats. Could have waited a few weeks- this just negates Bibis grand standing at the UN about the building stop- .
22. talk about no brainers
rita   (09.27.11)
you can talk about no brainers when all those nice young couples with dozens of kids have to be moved- remember Gaza? Don't think it can't happen again- . It is Israel who is posturing, you haven't got a leg to stand on legally. As for fog vision: does Israel have one? Judging by your recent government one sure can't tell.
23. How to alienate your friends
Geoff ,   London (UK)   (09.27.11)
Not exactly the cleverest of moves by the Israeli government. - just when the Security Council is about to begin its debate on Palestinian statehood.
24. # 6
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (09.27.11)
It's not disputed, it's occupied. And Palestinians can build anywhere they want in the west bank and E. Jerusalem? Not to mention Israel proper? LOL.
25. # 23 It's arrogance
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (09.27.11)
Not a lack of cleverness. Israel knows it can do pretty much whatever it wants as long as it has the U.S. in its hip pocket. Which it does.
26. Abbass took the risk and lost
Rachel ,   Abbass took the risk   (09.27.11)
He was aware that he'll lose more than if he return to the negotiation table - Abbass took upon himself to breached the Oslo peace accord - Israel has the automatic right to annex Judea, Samaria and all of Jerusalem.
27. Social justice
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.27.11)
Congratulations to Dafna Leef. Netanyahu finally listened to Dafna Leef's protest and did the first, albeit minor, step to lower housing prices. Let us hope these are the first of tens of thousands housing units Netanyahu will build.
28. congratulations
stefan ,   belgium   (09.27.11)
Keep up the good work!
29. To: No. 15
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.27.11)
Since when does a sovereign state need permission to build on its own soil? I doubt you are American, in any event. You spell "behaviours" the British way. OUTED!
30. Rahel # 21
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.27.11)
There is no such thing as a bad time for Israel to build.
