31. alsky, every Jew is precious as any othe human
Hana ,   Tel Aviv   (10.12.11)
32. Dear Shalit Family, I'm crossing my fingers
Hana ,   TA   (10.12.11)
for your beloved son, and I'm so glad that the only right decision is taken at last. I wish you as much happiness as it's possible.
33. Any soldier on active duty
Sagi   (10.12.11)
who is kidnapped has only two people to blame. Himself and his commanding officer. Both should receive punishment. The soldier is of course under severe punishment by virtue of his kidnapping and detention. The officer should be severely punished, demoted and decommissioned. I hope that Shalit does not arrive back in a box. One day after the deal is done, whether he is in a box or not, all currently detained Palestinian prisoners should be summarily released from detention and concurrent with this a law should be enacted by parliament that from this moment on all terrorists will be DOA no matter what the circumstances. This is a very simple solution to the problem.
34. Not Local News Anymore
Devorah   (10.12.11)
It is now incumbent upon the UNGA, UNSC and UNESCO to seriously examine and address the depraved "palestinian" violations of Gilad Shalit's human rights during his imprisonment, particularly when contrasted to the exceptional treatment of "palestinian" prisoners in Israeli jails. The UN cannot let these violations slide by anymore, and the timing could not be better since the shekel stops with Abbas who is running all over the place begging for statehood. Neither Abbas nor the UN can hide from the Shalit matter anymore; nor can it run away from the violence perpetuated by Hamas, past, present and promised in the future. Regardless of what happens from this point forward, if the world did not know about Shalit before, it does now, and some grave questions need to be answered.
35. To #28
Beary White ,   Norway   (10.12.11)
I will not mention your alias, but it is interesting how a mind can be twisted caused by something we all know, we non-islamic people living on the earth.
36. to #9
PaulZion ,   Israel   (10.12.11)
I wonder how you would feel if it was YOUR son in the place of Gilad Shalit, who was serving in the army at the time...what are your sons doing here? Playing the Stock Exchange? With your attitude, it is better your sons ARE out of here. Who needs people like you, whose Zionism is predicated on decisions being taken that are only to your liking. By the way, keep your money, too. Just remember that if Israel was not around, you would probably be living in a GHETTO and not as a free thinking Jew in Canada. Good riddance.
37. weakness
Natalie ,   Europe   (10.12.11)
How many will be killed by this thousand? And it is an open invitation to kidnap more soldiers. Stalin was a bloody tyrant but you could learn from him a thing or two. When asked by Germans to trade marshal Rommel taken prisoner in Stalingrad for Stalin's son Jacob Stalin answered: I don't trade marshals for lieutenants. Jacob was killed by Germans but Rommel was released only after the war when it couldn't harm the USSR.
38. #28 Not as good as it could have been ! HA !!
(10.12.11)
39. #36 I dont need a weak Ghetto Israeli Jew to represent me
Al   (10.12.11)
You are right, my sons will be outta there to leave you to your own devices. Good luck with that one. Look around and see the faces of your fellow citizens. Tell me wether they are proud of this deal or do they believe this is a pending disaster. Your brvado is typical, stupid, arrogant nonsense. Have a nice life..Donuts to coffee I'll see the likes of you milling around here in Canada looking for a handout. I've seen 1000s like you milling about here in Canada looking for a handout. Thats where you will end up.
40. At least do this
Ilan   (10.12.11)
Do not ask for the released terrorists to sign any statements. That is simply a fig leaf and has no meaning. Do not pardon them. This is a release of known terrorists taken under duress. If the opportunity arises to rearrest them or eliminate them we have every right to do so. Let them run and go hide in their holes, but let's not prostitute ourselves more than we have to.
41. A deal that will live in infamy
Ya'akov ,   Be'er Sheva   (10.12.11)
Much as I hate death, I realize that a soldier is to be sacrificed for his own nation instead of sacrificing the security of his nation for himself. In other words: a soldier must be ready to die for his nation and not the other way around. The thoughtless selfishness of Shalit's family and the politicians involved in this immoral deal will bring much blood upon the children of other Israeli families, as well as much shame upon themselves. But what do they care? On the other hand, what is the deed that Shalit did to be named a "hero"? Being caught of guard by the enemy? Staying alive? When did Israel turned reason into madness? I live in Israel, so my children and grandchildren. I'm not saying this from the comfort of Amerika or Eurabia. We Israelis have to be ready to die if necessary for our sieged nation. We are also to be ready to see our relatives fall if necessary for the security of our people. Cowardice and selfishness shall only accrue more pain, sorrow and death due to our lack of vision, courage and Faith in HaShem. Poor Shalit will have to live with a very heavy weight upon his shoulders when these freed terrorists start killing once again. Of course, unless he is like the rest of his family...
42. "We don't negotiate with terrorists"
Jonny ,   SA   (10.12.11)
I thought that that was the principle, borne out of the realisation that if you give in it encourages a repeat of the tactic of kidnapping or hijacking and the like. I think its great for the family and my emotional reaction is great relief ..but , intellectually, what makes this different and justifiable? Only serious thinkers need respond.
43. I believe in Shalit release
ADIELE ,   NIGERIA   (10.12.11)
I beleive in ISRAEL and I believe in the GOD OF ISRAEL, congratulations to all who OK this despite the security consequences.
44. Al
(10.12.11)
U speak in violence and hostilaty, you don't want your kids to serve the army fine, but don't diss others who have fought and died for there country
45. If Bibi wills it...
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (10.12.11)
What this tells you is that Bibi's constant refrain of 'I can't do this because the far right in the cabinet won't let me' or 'I had to do this because the far right in the cabinet made me', is baloney. It's all about Bibi, never forget, so when he thought, 'I can do this, it'll play well, I'll look good,' he did it. The fact that the numbers are what the right opposed all this time, and that amongst those being released are people with our blood on their hands, and that it all could have happened long before, and that the 'devil we know' Mahmoud Abbas is damaged by this and its timing, and 'the devil we hate' is boosted, is of course irrelevant.
46. Gilad Shilit
Yoel ,   Israel   (10.12.11)
"Wrong decission" no exchange, no exchange........No prisoners, no arrests...shoot to kill all terrorists.
47. silly
anon ,   israel   (10.12.11)
this has to be one of the most ridiculous things, send these people free so that they can kills again. Sacrifice many for one, that just doesnt seem right to me.
48. No 28
Emma ,   London   (10.12.11)
Typical of you to praise bloody murderers and liars but I would expect nothing less from you. Are we to assume from your comment that you believe it is not necessary to find a negotiated peace when you get what you want through extortion, kidnap and blackmail? Again, typical of the thinking of you people. As Alan Dershowitz says, Arab terrorism pays.
49. Bargain? I call it sand in the eyes!
David ,   Etz Efrayim, Israel   (10.12.11)
Together with the entire nation I am happy that the child is returning to his family - but, sad to say' the timing proves the cynasism of our elected government: a better deal could have been made years ago. Could it be that the deal was made NOW in order to deflect attention from the total failure of the elected government of the people of Israel from the social issues? What happened to the slogan "the people demand social justice?" They struck a bargain, at the expense of our lives and the lives of our children. I hope that the wonderful Shalit family will be able to live with this stigma that is not of their doing and that ALL of us will be able to live with soo many freed homocidal criminals on the streets
50. And this is an eleced government?
David ,   Etz Efrayim, Israel   (10.12.11)

Natalie ,   Europe   (10.12.11)
Sorry, marshal Paulus, not marshal Rommel.
52. Very happy for shalit

Al needed to be told .
55. Israel seems to have decided to commit suicide
Ziona Eden ,   Karlsruhe Germany   (10.12.11)
while I very much wish Gilad to be free, I think it is complete and utter madness what they are doing now...! soon they will see the traumatic consequnces....it seems Israel has decided to commit suicide..just like the rest of western world...they should be smart enough to find some other means of freeing him.....do theey really think these terrorist musloids will sit and do nothing???? are they all (the Israelis) gone mad ?!...
56. What is wrong with people who support this deal?
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.12.11)
To my knowledge, there has been no reliable poll yet as to what percentage of Israelis support and oppose the Shalit deal. However, all available evidence suggests a substantial percentage of Israelis support this deal. I can't help but wonder what is wrong with them. We know it will lead to many more Israeli maimings and murders. We know it glorifies our enemies. We know it reduces our self respect. We know it broadcasts a message of pathetic weakness to the world. So why on earth would any rational Israeli support it? In America, or any other democratic nation, no political leader would ever dare to propose freeing 1,000 terrorists to ransom a single captive. The media, public and their political rivals would devour them. Yet in Israel, this lunacy is proposed, voted on and almost unanimously passed by our pathetic leaders. Unbelievable and scary.
57. Cabinet / # of Ministers / Ridiculous
Michael ,   Chicago, IL   (10.12.11)
I'm glad that Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on Gilad Shalit. The only comment I want to make is why the hell does Israel's government have TWENTY NINE MINISTERS? I understand coalition politics, but that's a ridiculous and wasteful number.
58. 26 Reuven Brauner, Israel: You must pray like King David did
Rivkah   (10.13.11)
five times a day and rising at midnight and 3AM to pray again for HaShem to bind the demons in those who hate Israel and Jews. That is a defense, you know. Sure, all the released prisoners is a potential killer but HaShem can bind the demons in them to hinder Satan's plans.
59. Shalit #10
janet ,   tiberius israel   (10.13.11)
what a sweetheart you are may your family be well and never have to depend on your" humanity"
60. Shalit
