1. Ans so it is a society that doesnt respect the dead
Al   (10.16.11)
will never respect the living. That is today's Israel. Inorder to satisfy the utter selfishness of one family Israel endangers the 1000's of others who will surely fall victim to the murders being released this week. A society that is selfish will only have itself to blame for the future carnage that will come Israels way. I weep for you Israel. 66 years after Auschwitz you have learned nothing.
2. Shalit deal a DOUBLE EDGE SWORD
Robert ,   farmington,wv   (10.16.11)
Shalit deal is a double edge sword yes it brings shalit back to his family and brings them great joy in having there son back , but it brings great grief to the ones that lost love ones to the terrorist that are being set free again , to come back and do it all over again. yes the jews gained one of theres back but in the future the price tag will be more bloodshed. and more lost of lives
3. Good to know...
sergio ,   mexico   (10.16.11)
that the Palestinians will be free...
4. Aviad Glickman forgets to mention...
Erik ,   Sweden   (10.16.11)
Dear Aviad Glickman You forget to ask or mention one of the most crucial points in these sad stories.. Like all other journalists in Israel have, sadly... After all these terrorists are released... How many new innocent lives will get destroyed by these men and women? ...and after that; how many Israeli lives of soldiers, police officers, agents, handlers and assets will get killed or injured trying to catch them after they perpetrated yet another attack? People on this Ynet comment field frequently say: "Israel just have to kill them" or "arrest them again" ...But all those people who have to facilitate those requests also risk their lives, and also have loved ones who care for them. The girl in the article might be religious and forgiving, I admire that! ...but, her religious naiveté in her argumentation supersede her point. As these men and women might go out and return to terror again. I even think that, according to the statistics of terrorists Israel released in the past, the odds are that 60% of them will. Israel made a HUGE mistake during the confrontation with Hamas, they pulled out of Gaza too early and did not look for Schalit...
5. Form revenge squads
John S ,   Texas US   (10.16.11)
Your state won't bring you justice. . . .go get it yourself.
6. #1 SHALIT HAS CLOUT..PROTECSIA
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (10.16.11)
Shalit is no ordinary family. They have connections here in Israel and in France too. This is a bad deal and it stinks .The trouble is though it is also not good to just allow Gilad to rot. But this deal is dangerous.
7. The bereaved families are right!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (10.16.11)
Shalit should have been released only through military intervention. Disrespecting the relatives of the murdered and causing them such pain is not only immoral but also irresponsible.
8. Gilad is still alive.
noa ,   israel   (10.16.11)
He has been in the enemy's hands for over 5 years, and the enemy is small, calculating, and rabid. Him suffering is not going to bring your loved ones back. HE IS ALIVE.
9. deal
michaelpielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (10.16.11)
This deal is a slap in the face to the victims of terrorist attacks and their families. Nothing good will come of it. Only more terror, more victims, more suffering and no peace. All the Oslo did was legitimize terror and raised the terrorists form being murderers to being victims with a cause. Whose dumb idea was it to bring Arafat and the terrorists back to judea and Samaria, legitimizing them, terror and the murder of Jews.
10. These 1027 should not be alive in the first place.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (10.16.11)
This kind of criminals should be put to death ,and it is not understandable why there is not death penalty in Israel for this kind of monster terrorists. All this discussion would be avoided if the right thing to do would be done. Israel loses time and gains suffering in matters it shouldn't ,so obvious they are.
11. How manipulative can Ynet be?
robin ,   israel   (10.16.11)
There must be 20 articles against the release of Gilad Shalit, WHO IS STILL ALIVE. What an evil internet site you have turned out to be.
12. To the bereaved - most of us are not celebrating
rebecca ,   Modiin   (10.16.11)
While most of us are glad to hear that Gilad will come home, we are listening with heavy hearts. Instead of song we hear the screams of your family members, we hear your tears. But we still cannot say NO to this. We also hear our own fears for the future.
13. I must commend YNet for these news stories.
Steve   (10.16.11)
Thank you for publishing these testimonies from victims' families of Palestinian jihad terrorism. Another popular English / Israeli news site is not reporting this heartrending side to this tragic exchange.
14. Robin #11
Steve   (10.16.11)
YNet is presenting the other "unpleasant" side to this event. The side of the families who are victims of murderous terrorism. There are other sites (one which will go unnamed) which are not reporting this in such detail. Why not?
15. Must be very hard, but one should learn to forgive.
Ali ,   Washington, DC   (10.16.11)
16. Israel is making a mistake to release
John ,   Accra,Ghana   (10.16.11)
the prisoners. The question is who knows how many terrorist attacks the freed prisoners will commit the next time.Israel should reinstate capital punishment for terrorist.
17. To number 8
Logician ,   Philadelphia, PA   (10.16.11)
You miss the point! It is NOT the issue that prisoners are being exchanged for a captive soldier. It is that such a move EMBOLDENS the terrorist groups and gives them logarithmic reason to kidnap more soldiers and commit more murders and terrorist acts! It would be acceptable (perhaps to me, as an outsider, and not a family of a terror victim), if you guaranteed that ALL the released prisoners would go live a peaceful life and be farmers, but who are you kidding? Don't you admit that at least ONE of the released terrorists will commit more murders of innocent Israelis? Is it acceptable to you or your family to accept that fact?
18. Is it ANY wonder that people are driven....
Adina Kutnicki, ,   Israel   (10.16.11)
to seek their own justice? Rest assured they will. Can ANYONE imagine the pain of these bereaved families as they witness the KILLERS of their loved ones go free? The Schalit family should hang their heads in shame for not recognizing the circus they created. As parents they are fighting for their own child.Fine.But that does NOT mean that the rest of the nation has to accept the immoral calculus of letting loose over a thousand stone cold killers for their son, soon to prey on the entire Jewish public!! Some of these terrorists are guilty of killing MORE Jews than some placed on trial for their Nazi war crimes! Therefore, each and every leader who agreed to this immoral, illegal release will one day be subject to a 'people's court'. Nullum Crimen Sine Poena-No Crime Without Punishment is a basic tenet of international law. A leadership which opines over the international community's acceptance of them would do well to ponder this grave violation of law. Moreover, it is important to examine the Basic Laws that this violates.Further, negotiating with Hamas-a terror entity-is itself illegal!! Need I say more?
19. No - it's the Palestinians who are spilling our blood...
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.16.11)
...and dancing and celebrating each time they do it. There is no joy in their release, but there is great joy in redeeming a captive Jewish soldier. The Palestinians have always had a blood culture, and have always had a policy of killing Jews - mostly civilians. That has not changed.
20. President's Wholesale Abuse Of Pardon Power Must Be Limited
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (10.16.11)
21. #17 - the answer is Yes
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.17.11)
The answer is that the risk is acceptable to the vast majority of Israelis. We've lived with Arab war crimes against our civilians. We're not fools and we know the Palestinians will continue to carry out terrorist attacks against our civilians. Our hope is that any future attacks will be met with an iron-fisted response. My hope is that our leaders will go on the record an hour after Shalit is returned and let the Palestinians know in black and white that any future terrorist attacks will be met with with a swift, brutal and unequivocal retaliation. Palestinians must learn that their culture of blood and death will end up costing them more than it gets them. If they insist on killing our civilians then we will pound them into the stoneage - where they appear to belong if they insist on refusing peace.
22. NIR COHEN- ""BEREAVED FAMILIES...""
SJOERD RUURD VAN DER ,   MULTIVERSE   (10.17.11)
BOTH SIDES/PARTIES UNFORTUNATELY HAVE KILLED INNOCENT PEOPLE. THE ENTIRE MANKIND KNEW/KNOWS THAT.
23. One thing missing
Shaul ,   Texas usa   (10.17.11)
The deal should include a promise that soldiers will not be KIDNAPPED. The Israelis took the best deal they could get for Shalit. The Palestinians should take the best deal they can get. Take Gaza and 90+ percent of the west bank. Build your capital east of Jerusalem. The dome of the rock remains unchanged. Go build that state.
24. EYE FOR EYE TOOTH FOR TOOTH !
mark ,   t.a.Israel   (10.17.11)
IF WE APPLIED THE PRINCIPLE OF TORAH MENTIONNED ABOVE WE WOULD ERADICATE THE TERRORISM SINCE A LONG TIME ! TODAY NEVER IN ANY COUNTRY OF THE WORLD YOU SEE A BLOODY TERRORIST PUT IN PRISON, FEED AND THEN LIBERATED SO EASILY ! THE TERROR VICTIMS SOULS ARE ASKING FOR REVENGE !!
25. compassion for everyone
Rachel ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.17.11)
the hearts of the grieving should never be forgotten or ignored , because they will never be able to forget their pain. however, it is good to focus on and support the living. we can still do something about the living.
26. Gilad Shalit deal
Karen Chapman ,   New York, USA   (10.17.11)
It is as if (these) families who lost loved ones would rather have revenge than prevent another family from similar loss. That is shameful and small. All should rejoice that a life is being saved. So many have been praying for so many years for Gilad's return. The response of love is to rejoice.
27. #15
Jane   (10.17.11)
We will never forgive. Not because it is hard. Because it is undeserved.
28. it is not surprising, that the state dances on their blood
chaim.s ,   54th st.brooklyn ny   (10.17.11)
because it is the same leftist cowardly state that is responsible for shedding theitr blood in the first place, when 20yrs ago, they brought back the PLO butchers from their exile in Tunisia, and armed them with Israeli weapons, and let them loose on the jews in Israel, where they proceeded to butcher almost 2000 jewish men women and children, well then why would it surprise us if they are dancing on these same victims blood. it is their party from the begining, and of course their party is not finished, because once these 1000 murderous animals are released, rivers of jewish blood will start flowing in the streets of Israel, therefore these leftist cowards will have some more dancing
29. The blood of the maryrs cried out from the ground and HaShem
Rivkah   (10.17.11)
will avenge. Those who cannot forgive murder must remember that Moses and King David repented of murder and were forgiven by HaShem and were not imprisoned. It is HaShem who examines the repentant or unrepentant heart and HaShem who decides whose souls will enter His Kingdom. Who is to say but that the release prisoners or at least some of them will stop killing because of the Israeli government's mercy? Many people are put to death by governments when they are innocent. Shouldn't the guilty be released in some instances if a greater good is the reason? The IDF needs to know there is hope for them if they are the prisoners one day. Parents need that assurance, too. RFID chips can be put into the released prisoners so that their whereabouts is known, unbeknownst to them. That is the reason few American military personnel are kidnapped since they can be tracked by GPS and located after abductions so that the captors are captured or killed.
30. 20 Ariel Ben Yochanan: My heart breaks for you and
Rivkah   (10.17.11)
I understand your anger, but I also understand the need to find a way to release Gilad Shalit so that all IDF will have hope of a similar release if captured. Don't take away that hope. The people of Israel can pray for HaShem to bind the demons in the enemies of Israel and the Jews to hinder Satan in his plans. Did you know that the Governor of Illinois suspended the death penalty after finding a lot of people who were convicted of murder were innocent? How many innocent are wrongly executed and how many is too many? How many people in Israel's and America's prisons are innocent? Shouldn't there be hope for the guilty as there was for Moses and King David long ago? Israel as a nation must pray for HaShem to bind the demons in their enemies and Israel as a nation must stop sinning so HaShem can protect them. Flaunting sodomy, women with wanton eyes, and cheating the poor are the reasons the Prophet Isaiah gives for HaShem withdrawing His protection from Jerusalem in the latter days of Gentile world rule and letting it be attacked with what is described as an atomic attack. Israel can get help from HaShem on these things to prevent attacks.
