1. Shalit's are in a no win position
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (10.17.11)
They want their son to be released, which is only natural, yet others that had their dear ones killed will resent their murderer's being released Peres is instrumental in releasing the Arab prisoners, if as a result, a single one of them should again commit an act of violence or murder against an Israeli, Peres MUST be forced to resign his post and forevermore keep his mouth shut, to remove himself permanently from the public scene
2. PEOPLE TAKE ACTION!!!
Reuven Ben-Tal ,   Jerusalem   (10.17.11)
If the left-wing courts decide to make a left-wing decision dangerous for the security of the people and the country, THE PEOPLE MUST TAKE ACTION!!! Am Yisrael Hai!!!
3. to # 2
arne ,   usa   (10.17.11)
what decision made by the court will be detrimental to israel? release or do not release prisioners.--please explain.
4. Yagil Amir
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.17.11)
If Mr. Amir "converts" to Islam and declares himself a member of Hamas he, too, will one day be on a bus to freedom. No. It wouldn't work. In Israel, Jews actually have to serve their sentences. It's the Arabs who get away cheap. One wonders what makes this country "Jewish"?
5. any price for human life
Dov ,   Usa   (10.17.11)
The army I served in made it clear to me that my life was was worth saving at any cost.
6. Why bother to go to court if it is only to express objection
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.17.11)
It is a done deed and only serves to makes these people more distraught. The whole deal is a package to promote more murders and kidnaps which has been accepted by the majority. It is the will of the people to submit to terrorists over this issue and no one must point a finger at Bibi in the future but rather, everyone must shoulder future blame. This has indeed been a victory for Hamas given them by Israel. That is all there is to it...case closed.
7. number 4 YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME
ben   (10.17.11)
In Israel Jews actually serve thier senetences. Number 4 you show an incredible lack of objectivity. there are hundreds of ceses of Jews who have murdreed Palastinians and nothing has happened to them. IN many cases such as the killer of Iman Al Hams thier names are not even released.
8. To #3
Reuven Ben-Tal ,   Jerusalem   (10.17.11)
To release terrorists who have murdered unarmed men, women and children in Israel is a slap in the face for the security of the citizens of Israel, to the Jewish People and to Israel. You don't convict terrorists and put them behind bars only to release that a few years later. You either kill them or keep them away from law-abiding citizens.
9. Individuals can take their own price tags when he is back.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.17.11)
10. If Hamas wanted to make more "pigueem". . .
noa ,   israel   (10.17.11)
Do you think not releasing the prisoners is what is stopping them? How cruel and shortsighted can you be? This just smacks of wanting to take revenge on the Shalits. Shame on you.
11. Israel is in danger all the time.
robin ,   israel   (10.17.11)
Israel is surrounded by 100 million Arabs that want to annihilate her. Does that mean Israel should stop caring for the living? If we don't have each other, what do we have?
12. horrible situation, but...
Mark ,   USA   (10.17.11)
The Schalits should know that they will be outcasts. The deal is rotten and Bibi's gov't deserves to fall along with all of the other "garbage" including Barak and Peres. It's an insane deal cooked up perhaps by the US. It stinks!!
13. pls ckek the date when shalit will release
eli ,   israel   (10.17.11)
i see in the t.v which date will gilad shalit will release 19-11-211 i think there is error
14. not vengeance but justice, righteous, honor!
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (10.17.11)
Oren: "nothing will bring her back. Vengeance and anger will not help?" wrong, refuse releasing criminals isn't vengeance and anger, it's fulfilling justice and protecting the innocence. we never ask to "bring back the dead", we only ask to their sacrifice is worthy that we promise whatever happen to them will not happen to anyone anymore. we only ask to live in an honorable and righteous life that they are not given a chance to live. we only ask that we carry out penalty (not vengeance) that the evil will think twice before they murder again. it just not vengeance and anger that you are talking about. it justice, righteous and honor living!
15. @5 Dov USA - your gov does not trade its soldiers
rebecca ,   Modiin   (10.17.11)
If you, from the USA would have been in Gilad's place, your parents would have received a Killed in action notification, and your parents would have sat shiva.
16. Did the Shalits have to look so SMUG, sitting in the front
rebecca ,   Modiin   (10.17.11)
17. Odd that article doesnt mention the 60% terrorist recidivism
Hippocrates ,   earth   (10.17.11)
ie they return to terror. someone should have told the states attorney, no what is catastrophic is hundreds more Jews murdered by your deal. THAT IS CATASTROPHIC
18. the victims' families could also be the Shalits
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (10.17.11)
I would like to know, if any one of hte families of victims of terro were in the same position as Noam and Aviva Shalit, wouldn't they act exactly the same? Yes, it's a terrible decision for our government to have to make, but I still think it's the right one. What was the alternative, to totally abandon Galit, declare him dead and leave him to torturers' hands? The prisoner exchange must go ahead as planned. All the pain of the victims' families will not bring their loved ones back. They should learn from those other families who lost loved ones and yet support the exchange. Just let Gilad come home safe and start to heal.
19. blinded by pain, anger & hatred...
bereaved survivor ,   Israel   (10.17.11)
It saddens me that so much attention is being given to this particular group of victims of terror. There are others of us, yes we are still bereaved by the loss of our loved ones, yes we are still marked by the scars of our survival. But we are able to understand that Gilad Ben Aviva Shalit is our soldier and that we are responsible for bringing him home. Bringing a soldier home has its costs...but he is our soldier and so I for one have put my PERSONAL pain to the side so that I may rejoice with the Shalit family as I along with the nation prepare to witness the return home of OUR soldier.
20. ronsky and israeli citizen/soldiers
marcel   (10.17.11)
Israel is a nation of laws and it must observe the appropriate laws. However, lawyers are among the weakest physically in the israeli society and are among the last to defend israel on the battlefield-eg olmert, livni, ramon, mazzuz. So israelis must do what is necessary. 1) idf and ordinary citizens should kill terrorists who murder asap after getting information from them. 2) knowing full well that future baraks, peres', bibis will release hitler like murderers in a trade, they shoould be killed asap. 3) all those murderers who have been released-their names and locations should be followed by squads of citizens and at first moment of planning or executing terror, israelis like the nazi seeking avengers, should eliminate them. israel sovereignty has been gravely weakened since peres' oslo plan ,followed by barak and olmert. The country cannot take such blows to its sense of self. and the leaders do not understand how important self respect is because they are flawed themselves. Like the russian and jewish partisans who bled the nazis, israelis will have to take matters into their own hands. That is the way it is.
21. I am so sorry dear bereved families
God Bless Famiies   (10.17.11)
your loss is horrific and your pain must be beyond measure. the price to bring your and mine, as well as all of Israel's son, Gilad, home is so very high. Nonetheless, Gilad is alive and we MUST bring the son of Israel home. Please find it in your hearts to forgive us and be happy for Gilad. He has the right to try to rebuild his life. I am so VERY sorry for the horrific injustice perpetrated against you by the evil terrorists. May they all rot in hell.
22. The Shalit family owe answers to these questions
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (10.17.11)
"What are the names of the boys who fought to the death alongside Gilad rather than be captured" and "How many times have you visited with their families in the last week, last month last year?" If the Shalit family does not recall their names, nor recall the last time they visited with these families, they have no right to deprive the terror victims families of justice by freeing the convicted killers of their loved ones to get Gilad back now rather than at the end of the conflict in the normal way. America NEVER agrees to these kinds of stupid hostage trades, and Israel must stop. We are talking about freeing convicted war criminals who murdered civilians, not "POWs".
23. Ynet: Stop the madness!!
Yankel ,   New York   (10.17.11)
Stop covering only one side of the story! They are two sides to the story, both all to true! It is a sad situation but at the end of the day Israel can't leave one of it's soldiers in Hamas captive to die regardless of it's price.
24. I served in the IDF
DOV ,   USA   (10.17.11)
Have companion on the LIVING victim Gilad and his family. Do not forgive the blood thirsty killers but don't deny our fellow soldier his freedom.
25. Shalit disaster is product of failed Israeli leaderhship.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.17.11)
The Shalit kidnap disaster didn't just happen. It was created by a massive failure of Israeli leadership. Some of the failures include: 1) Failure to execute captured terrorists. There is no sane reason to keep murderous terrorists alive for long periods of time. 2) Negotiating with terrorists. Israel was well served by the pre-Oslo policy of refusing to negotiate with terrorists. Since Israel began talking with terrorists, the amount of terrorism, maimed and murdered civilians, rocket attacks etc. has skyrocketed. 3) Ransoming captives. The decision to ransom captives instead of severely punishing their kidnappers is a lunatic one. It fosters terrorism in many ways. It increases terrorists' motivation and recruitment, motivates more kidnapping and assures terrorists will remain alive to murder again. The Shalit disaster is almost entirely a product of Israel's failed leadership.
26. ISRAEL'S SAFETY MUST BE ..1st PRIORITY
Esther ,   Selkirk Canada   (10.17.11)
27. Next Shalit
Dan ,   Florida   (10.17.11)
This is a bad deal and we deserve to know now the name of the next Sgt. Shalit who will surely be kidnapped by Hamas who will keep kidnapping our people until they have emptied our prisons of their terrorists and horror after horror will rain down upon Israeli cities and people.
28. # 22
Birdi ,   Israel & proud of it   (10.17.11)
Feel better after your rant? Breaking news to you, this is Israel, not America-a great difference.
29. # 19
Birdi ,   Israel   (10.17.11)
Kudos to you for your bravery & honesty. May you never know additional pain.
30. Shalit
The Bald scotsman ,   Medford,USA   (10.17.11)
I ask myself one question., If it was my child who was abducted, what would I want the government to do. For me the answer is simple. Move heaven and earth but get my child home.
