31. Sarah B - cold facts
mba ,   Israel   (10.20.11)
Yes, it's difficult to release murders, yet here, as in the U.S., 60% of released prisoners return to crime. Another fact: 500 of the released prisoners were to be released in the near future - from a few months to a year or two. Again, as usual, we are constantly dealing with symptoms and not the causes.
32. A very simple minded argument
Sam   (10.20.11)
Equating justice with revenge is simple minded. If prison doesn't serve a purpose then no one should be arrested. The entire system is useless. Keeping a convicted murderer is not simply a matter of revenge. Revenge would be a mandatory death penalty which Israel has not done to date. Of course opinions like Robi's are the most potent argument for killing murderers since our justice system fails society and the victims by releasing unrepentant killers. There is no parallel with the Irish either. This wasn't an prelude to a comprehensive peace and why the Irish example is better than the Nuremberg or the ICJ trials after the Balkan wars is unclear. Letting go people who guilty of crimes against humanity demeans human life. If life is sacred then killers should be punished.

Please, then, ignore my TBs just as I ignore yours (unless they are directed to me). I do not willingly argue with those who are misinformed and who willfully refuse to learn. Your opinion regarding my 4th paragraph in #28 has no weight with me.
34. Apparently, ynetnews does not believe in freedom of speech.

In the past two days I have tried SIX (!!!) times to post my comment here, clarifying who Robi Damelin really is, yet my comment was censored over and over and over and over again. Shame on you!

frankly, I don't see the point in Ynet searching out this kind of writer because no one is going to have their opinion changed by reading the article or the talkbacks. I don't believe that it served any constructive purpose for the writer either since she may read talkbacks that hurt her feelings and she evidently is already quite bereaved and grief stricken. I think that Ynet thinks that it can sway the public into thinking a certain way by publishing this. I think that the writer believes that she can bring back her son's love and potential by writing this. In the final analysis maybe this option should be called listenbacks instead. Everyone will continue on his path of dealing with these difficult questions and the truth will be hidden who knows where.

Merrill the Diaspora Jew sitting safely in NY because Gilad serves in the IDF, just like myself and my sons... Your life is in no danger, so please keep your irrelevant comments where they belong: in the Diaspora

I find your use of this particular forum to advance your opinions particularly obscene. Robi Damelin, as a bereaved mother, expressed her opinion. You have no moral compass when you attack her personally and i don't understand why Ynet allows your comments.
