Welcome home, Gilad.

I'm very happy for him and his family. Gilad Shalit was a prisoner of war and as such deserving of humane treatment while in captivity. I hope the Gazans honoured that responsiblitiy. We shall see as the tale of his ordeal is revealed. I'm glad that the Israeli government did not abandon him like they did with Arad. That's a positive sign. Maybe Bibi is coming to his senses. So now let us see if he and Israel will honour their agreement. Let the Palestinian prisoners go. Let them tell of their captivity in the Israeli gaols.

To the Shalit family, the collective Jewish community shares your joy. What a wonderful feeling in all of our hearts today. To see Gilad walking free; free of the monsters and free to live his life, is a great joy. He looks pale and emaciated, obviously a reflection of his captivity and a result of his captors. Nothing that a good Jewish Mother can't fix! God has blessed us all today!

We should seperate the joyous news of receiving our live Jewish brother back home, from the transfer of 'dead' minded terrorists who will surely get their just deserts. Shalit is not the criminal in this drama and should not to be made to feel so.

His unbreakable spirit won.He is an hero! After the family enjoys plenty their reunion and settle all these years in,I will love to see Noam Shalit engaged in Israel's just causes,to not let them anymore ,untill complete peace reins in Israel. In my opinion,he is too much needed!These 5 years were not in vain.

It's sickening to see how Netanyahu and the army turned this into a great PR show for themelves. They made Shalit salute in a fresh uniform in front of Netanyahu.

He looks ill and emaciated. I cannot imagine what he has gone through, what hell he must have suffered, in the last 5 years.And who knows how it has affected him psychologically. Despite this, from what I have seen, his spirit and character looks strong! Bruchim Ha'baim, Gilad!

Welcome welcome welcome home Gilad. May you enjoy your freedom for many happy and long years. As for the Israeli hirarchy, they should resign from their respective "leadership" and tried for treason, for unleashing all those murderers to commit hineous crimes again. Nowhere else in the world would those people be sitting in front of the cameras smiling triumphantly after commiting such crime against their own people whom they supposedly are defending. While I am glad he is home.I don't see how this Shalit deal is a moment to celebrate. How many Jews around the world and in Israel will be killed because of the release of all of these terrorist. I don't understand why one man is more important than the lives of many more that will be killed because of this deal. It shows that the legal system fails in Israel. It shows that democracy is failing in Israel. If Bibi negotiates like this on the peace process with Palestinians then there will be no Israel left at the end. It seems that the media is also celebrating this event which is a slap in the face to the terrorist victims over years who were not only Israelis but Jews from around the world who were killed. I hope the Shalits realize that this short lived happiness for them will be at the expense of other families who will lose loved ones because of this negotiated deal. One only has to remember history Ahmed Yassin was released in the 90s as a political release who founded Hamas and went on to order suicide bombings that cost the lives of many Israelis. I am afraid that Prime Minister Netanyahu has turned into the Israeli version of another Jimmy Carter.

I know this will be terribly unpopular with your readers, but I cant help noticing how fit and well the boy seems. Just compare this with the state the UK and US hostages were in, back in the 1980s in Lebanon.

after many years of thinking he had lost him. It also reminds me that only the violently resolute will see the Kingdom of HaShem. The resolve of Noam Shalit to see his son again beat down the doors of heaven to the throne room of HaShem who was compelled to act. HaShem surely is a King of Kings and compelled President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Cabinet and the Israeli Supreme Court to bring this to pass.

Every week in synagogues around the world (and especially here in Israel) there is a prayer for the safe return of Israeli MIAs. With great joy, his week Gilad son of Aviva will not be on the list. He is home at last. We continue to pray for the safe return of the other soldiers who are missing: Ze’ev Rotshik, Zecharia Baumel, Yehuda Katz, Tzvi Feldman. Ron Arad, Guy Hever and Majdi Halabi.

I was actually a lot happier to see Gilad alive and well than I thought I would be. And even though I didn't always agree with his parents tactics, I do have a deep and abiding respect for them.
