to John of Omaha--- Gilad was not a war hero because he was not taken during a war. He was on patrol with his fellow soldiers who BTW were murdered by the Hamas terrorists and was taken to captivity over the Gaza "border" since he was on duty in Israeli territory.

As usual you are right and wrong. Of course many Arabs left or on their own or heeded the call of Arab leaders. But many were forced from their homes: I happen to live in a small settlement in the Galilee that was once an Arab village where the residents were forced to leave. I have this information from neighbors who were in the army at the time of expulsion and took part in expelling the residents and razing most of the buildings. Just so you get your facts straight. Not statiing if it was right or wrong, just facts (which are important if you want to discuss the issue intelligently).
