1. OK
zznhl   (10.18.11)
The interview boomaranged on this women; 1 it showed she is a scheming, ethicless women interested only in her career and that she probably resigned during the Eygyptian uprising in the same light realising what side was loosing; 2 it showed how abused Gilad was at the hands of his captors, He was pale, haggard and obviously tortured. The whole world could see how barbarically Gilad was treated according to "Islamic principles".Not even allowed a visit by the red cross according to the Geneva convention and all other humane covenants.
2. Did this "journalist" honestly think...
Ruth ,   San Diego USA   (10.18.11)
....that the first thing Gilad wanted after over 5 years of abuse was to sit down and have a little chat with HER? Anyone could see that he was breathing hard, obviously not in good shape, tired and confused. Any decent human being would have cancelled this "interview", even if she didn't think it was forced. Ms. Amin is clearly not one of these.
3. Cruel interview
Michel ,   Switzerland   (10.18.11)
I am extremely upset by this disrespectful, callous and cruel interview.
4. Balaan and Balak
Keren ,   IL-BR   (10.18.11)
As always, sooner or later, the enemies of Israel end up blessing Israel. She looked sooo gross,so grotesque, while Gilad looked a prince, full of natural dignity and education . Those who watched that disaster can't help but admire Israel and her sons.
5. Not intelligent woman
Serge ,   New York   (10.18.11)
Shalit was very intelligent in his answers even after over five years in captivity and while still having the Hamas terrorists behind him. If this woman behaves like this to a human being just liberated after so long in solitude I do not want to emagine how she will respond to her menopause.
6. Barbaric eom
Doodad ,   canada   (10.18.11)
7. Disgusting Display . . .
KB ,   S.F. CA, USA   (10.18.11)
This 'anchorwoman' had no regard for Gilad Shalit at all. But, you sure can see from this 'interview' what 5 years in Hamas captivity has done . . . yes, 5 years of starvation, deprivation, torture and brainwashing . . . have really turned him into a "supporter of rights for Arab prisoners" held by Israel.
8. Uh, duhhhh
noa ,   israel   (10.18.11)
You think maybe after being kept in solitary confinement for 5 years by the enemy and just finding out the last minute you are being released those questions might be inappropriate, regardless of being coerced or not. Duhhh.
9. she is a real bitch and who believes her?
meghan ,   israel   (10.18.11)
and well done Gilad, after being thrown in front of this ugly woman, you answered well and with maturity. We could see it was very hard, as you were just dying to see your parents. She made a fool of herself and proved what a rotten journalist she is...go for another profession lady, can i suggest one??? starts with P
10. The most unprofessional interview I ever saw and I majored
rachel ,   tel aviv, israel   (10.18.11)
in journalism in college. Her comments that she did not know the "interview" was coerced is disingenuous at the least and BS at the most. If she has press credentials issued by any journalistic society they should be immediately pulled. Her badgering of Gilad Shalit is a new low in media coverage. She and her translator were duplicitous in deliberately mistranslating Shalit's words, as well. Hopefully, she cannot enter Israel to ply her "trade". And she owes Gilad Shalit a personal apology. He has suffered enough.
11. The interview
Joe Charlap ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.11)
This disgusting interview was a prime example of barbaric journalism of the first order. The woman is a witch and a heartless one at that. In the end she showed herself up for what she is, a journalist of the lowest order.
12. seriously folks, give her a break
oferdesade ,   israel   (10.18.11)
do you really think it's easy being a woman in egypt of the soon-to-be brotherhood? do you think it's easy to be a journalist there? and a woman journalist, yet? coupla inches to the east and she'd be decl**orized and covered head-2-foot. if she were in sirael, she'd probably be a potential candidate for PM by now.
13. some anchorwoman! More like Tokyo Rose.
ky   (10.18.11)
it was to be expected . A truly primitive act designed to humiliate an exausted and bewildered man. I cannot believe a word this woman said because any fool would know that there is something wrong with interviewing a person who has just been released from 5 years of solitary confinement
14. The woman is scum like the terrorists we had to release
Lioness ,   Israel   (10.18.11)
Baruch Hashem Gilad is far more intelligent, and superia than them all put together. We can tell by the ratio 1 decent human being for over 1000 murderers who should really never see daylight again!
15. Shame on Her!
Barry ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.18.11)
If this Shahira Amin thought she was raising the image of Egypt in the world's eyes of journalism, she just convinced me that there is no credibility whatsoever with Egypt's image and press professionalism. Shame on her. She should retire now.
16. Like serpents
Keren ,   IL-BR   (10.18.11)
they were actually trying to disqualify the gravity of Gilad's situation, transforming it in an inverted "palywood",in a kind of soft show. Evil people, that's what they are!
17. Kol Hacavod to Gilad !
Jennie ,   US/Israel   (10.18.11)
Only a young man, born and raised in Israel on ethics, that are the backbone of this civilization, could prove again to the world and this Amin journalist, that being captured for 5 long years and suffering cruelties, that the world can only immagine, did not strip him of the best and the most noble of human values...His kidnapping while not bein in combat, made him an innocent prisoner...While all of the over a Thousand of pali terrorists returned, have lots of Jewish blood on their hands and they are proudly admitting it...No one journalist ever mentions this "little" fact...Ms Amin clearly had no business to be one of the first journalists to interview Gilad... When will we learn to look out for our interests ?
18. Actually, Gilad held his ground pretty well. Good on him !!
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (10.18.11)
19. Shahira Amin
Astrid ,   Israel   (10.18.11)
As a woman she maybe intended to be soft, but she succeeded to put Gilad in a very very uncomfortable situation without any motherly touch. First be a mother, then a journalist.
20. Stupid Stupid Stupid and very a nasty woman....
James Mosbell ,   London UK   (10.18.11)
If this woman is the best that the Egyptians have to offer then God help them, she proved to be a dumb and a very nasty woman. An ignorant and shameless peasant. She is no journalist......
21. It was good to see who had more brains.
papi ,   Beerotayim   (10.18.11)
KOL-HA-KA-VOT and welcome home Gilad, you made her more stupid than she already looks like. Well done.
22. Egyptian newswoman defends Shalit interview
maureen kilroy ,   quincy, ma   (10.18.11)
She states she had no knowledge that the interview was coerced. She'd have to be blind to realize that the poor young man was visibly uncomfortable. She's needs a serious lesson in journalistic ethics. She should be ashamed of herself
23. Shahira Amin cooperated with Hamas
Gili ,   USA   (10.18.11)
A Hamas militant was standing behind Shalit during the "interview". And dhe claims she didn't know...
24. How crass
Elle ,   Canada   (10.18.11)
Instead of defending the indefensible she should apologize for her lack of professionalism, both for conducting the interview in the first place and even worse, misrepresenting what he said. Meanwhile, Gilad Shalit did himself and his country proud, despite the torment and deprivation he so visibly has endured. Best wishes to him, his family, and the State of Israel - a Jewish son is finally home, where he belongs...
25. Barry, #15, they don't know the meaning of the word.
The 11th Man ,   London   (10.18.11)
27. NU!? When are you going to learn?
BergBaby ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
What does everyone here expect from an Arab news woman? The Israeli media all are complaining that they are in utter shock from this monster's interview with Gilad. As the brother of one of the victims of the 2000 Ramallah lynching put it, "They are all the devil's children".
28. "you look fine, how are you?" IS SHE SERIOUS
SBG ,   NY   (10.19.11)
the brave man was held by animals for 5 years, and she has the balls to tell him that he looks fine? These f*cking Arabs........
29. Journalistic Ethics
ahmad   (10.19.11)
In Egypt that is what passes for a "voluntary" interview.
30. People are surprised? Really? Why?
David Powell ,   Ocean City, NJ USA   (10.19.11)
They aren't exactly neutral. This is a huge power play and they will push it as far as they can. Don't expect they won't try another terror act, if they get a lot of miles out of this one. Sad but true :(
