1. Oh,please.Stop spotlighting this rag!
Keren ,   IL-BR   (10.19.11)
2. Shahira Amin
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.19.11)
That cow is no journalist. Her "questions" were insipid. Not a word about "Why are you so thin and emaciated?" That's the question most Israelis would like to hear asked. And answered. Shahira, you can dress yourself up in pretty clothes and Jimmy Choo shoes, but it doesn't change anything. You're a pig. Oink.
3. He hasnt seen sunlight for 5 years but then
how cruel   (10.19.11)
he's forced to stand infront of those cameras asked so many stupid questions by this evil "journalist".
4. She asked, Why did you have only one Interview in 5 Years?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.19.11)
FAIL.
5. Unnecessary
Eliza ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
The Amin woman should have had enough sensitivity not to carry out the 'interview/interrogation' towards Gilad. He needed to skip that and get to the important part of his freedom, that being to get home and spend quality time with his own people. He was at a disadvantage regarding her dumb questions being shot at him left, right and center. I was sooo disgusted by her and her lack of ethics regarding his situation. I'll bet if she put herself in his shoes, she probably still would not have realized how he must have been feeling. Shame on her!
6.  I did not take advantage of Shalit
Jess ,   USA   (10.19.11)
Whatever hag!
7. Arabs making pretend they are "western" journalists.
Efraim ,   Washington DC   (10.19.11)
Always pathetic to watch.
8. I saw the interview live and I was shocked.
noa ,   israel   (10.19.11)
This was without Israeli journalist's comments. The boy had been in isolation for 5 years without seeing a soul and not even seeing the sun. He had no idea what would come next. For her to ask him to promote the Egyptian authorities or to ask him what he felt about the 5000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons was callous and self-serving. Don't forget: Gilad did not blow anyone up. Those serving in Israeli prisons did blow people up, and contrary to the treatment he received, they were fed well, got to see their families and the son. She had no right to ask him those questions, forced or not forced. No one can be jealous of someone like that. Ever heard of manners?
9. Where were the people looking after him?
rebecca ,   Modiin   (10.19.11)
One cannot expect anything more from a Journalist. The question should be, who let her or any journalist near Gilad? The understanding was that only filming him was allowed. So why was he lead into this by whoever was "looking after him".
10. the woman has no sense of propriety..did not follow ethical
ann ,   spain   (10.19.11)
standard on journalism..the worst thing is ..she even defends herself from criticism ..she should have admitted her mistakes and offer an apology for her conduct..well it is the middle east ladies and gentlemen!
11. he had no choice
observer   (10.19.11)
Gilad was forced to be interviewed !!!!
12. disgust
IlanaB   (10.19.11)
I felt pure disgust to see this interview and cannot bare to see it when it comes on again. Gilad was so obviously suffering and weak. Many things were wrong with it. The translation of his answers was totally wrong-I am not feeling good was translated to I am feeling good... ALso, there should have never been hamas members around him-he was obviously scared and hesitant. ALl in all, it should have never happened, was immoral for a scoop to put him thru this. Most people, at least here, are enraged by the interview.
13. I feel sorry for Amin
Naftali ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
It is pretty evident she is no proper journalist despite her better wishes, but this 'interview' will burn her into the world's collective memory in the same way Saddam Hussain's head of public relations tried to 'boost' his boss' image weeks before he was removed from power. There is no 'journalism' in what she did, and blinding Arab nationalism set aside, she will forever remain the court buffoon with every serious journalist she will meet, and it is clear from her education she wants to be anything but that.
14. If it was her...
Jess ,   USA   (10.19.11)
I'm sure if she was in captivity for 5 years the first thing she would want to do upon being released is an interview with the enemy. This woman lacks any common sense. He obviously looks weak and I know eager to be in Israel with his family.
15. Is she crazy?
Maya ,   Chicago, Il   (10.19.11)
Did she really think after over five years Gilad wanted nothing more than to talk to her? She's a SICK, TWISTED excuse of a human!
16. Interview was insensitive - shame on you Egypt
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
He was in no shape for an interview or answering her stupid questions. (She asked him why he thinks the negotiations succeeded when previous ones failed!)
17. it reminded me...
isaac lorencz ,   nazaret ilit - israe   (10.19.11)
the postcard hungerian jews where forcet to send home from "valdese" saying how well thay are treted - in fact thay arived to auswitz...
18. For you Shahira Amin
uzi   (10.19.11)
You asked him if he agrees, of course he will do so when those who kidnapped him and put him in a dark hole behind him, you silly goose.
19. Imagine having her as a mother!
The 11th Man ,   London   (10.19.11)
20. Shahira,a terrorist is standing behind his back and you call
it "interview"??? ,   shame on you   (10.19.11)
21. arab journalist
Kitty ,   USA   (10.19.11)
Seriously? The kid was just released. If you want to get technical, and I'm sure he felt the same.....he was still in Arab hands. She looked like she was interviewing a young child, he looked scared to death, let alone in desperate need of some good food, and she was smiling and throwing questions at someone who had just been held captive for 5 yrs underground. Compassion? I didn't see any. Another journalist TRYING to become a star. Shame on you. Kudos to Israel for having the respect to not put him through this!!!!! Welcome home soilder.
22. all your comments are wrong!
TomTom ,   IL   (10.19.11)
Shahira Amin is an Egyptian - not an Israeli. We value life more than anything else... while they value pride, power, respect and fame. She doesn’t have the “brotherly Love" that we do to Gilad. So excuse her for being an Arab, and lets forget about this issue. The last thing we need in Egypt right now is more bad press. Let’s just thank G-D Gilad is back in Israel and get on with life.
23. #11 on the request of Israel
observer ,   Egypt   (10.19.11)
if Israel is negative in not requesting that interview is not in that PR deal, it means Israel is the prime perpetrator.
24. A letter to Shahira
Hanan ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
Assalamualaikum Shahira. Despite the fact Muslims cannot greet Jews with Assalamualaikum, as a Jew and an Israeli Zionist I feel free to greet you with the most frequent and precious greeting by Muslims. I watched yesterday your live interview of Gilad Shalit. I don't know what journalism means from the aspect of learning the profession, but from your interview I just learned that it was a failure from the human perspective. Even your approach looked (masked) under the human typical questions, it looked like Gilad was enforced to accomplish that interview for the proper and pure Egyptian propaganda. Gilad and probably you were trapped in the hands of the Hamas and Egyptian propaganda machine. There are two options and neither is good. One - you are naive to understand that you were used by the propaganda and the second - you were cooperating with the propaganda machine. Brutality, as a matter of fact, in many cases is masked by very polite and human attitude. That interview was a pure brutality, using a confused prisoner, just a moment before he could breath his first fresh air of freedom. What did you expect from him? To tell you that he don't want to be interviewed while the armed Hamas terrorists accompany with the Egyptians surrounding him? As an honest journalist, couldn't you understand the situation? As a human being, did you lose any compassion, any mercy? Your pretending to stop the interview if Gilad would ask it, is just exposing how your human blindness endorse cruelty, either via nativity or sadism. If it is possible to suck a little more the Jews blood, let's do it again. I was naive to think that I can create friendship with my neighbors, but after a while I understood that I'm very mistaken. Those who believe in the faith that commands them in their holy book not to take the Jews as their friends, will never be my friends. Evil will never modify into friendship. Thus, I closed my "Friendship prior Peace" web-blog (http://friendship-prior-peace.blogspot.com). Today I understand very well my neighbors and every day I get facts that confirms their cruelty. Wassalam. Hanan.
25. I watched the interview - Egyptians suck!
William ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
She was aggressive and peppered him with questions. Nevermind that some negative responses were purposely mis-translated into Arabic. Egyptians, like all Arabs, are parasitic and opportunists. No wonder their society is crap and often fed on devouring other parts of their society. I'm not surprised by their threats and egotistical postering, by anyone is that defunct society.
26. #11- after the abuse he received from Arab terrorists
William ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
Gilad wouldn't reject a forced interview for fear it would result in more illegal incarceration and abuse at the hands of Arabs. He had a TV so obviously he saw the illegal kidnapping and trumped up charges on Ilan Grapel. Gilad was now in Egypt - where law is just a word.
27. shame on you
observer ,   Egypt   (10.19.11)
the IDF could not found the black hole where Shalit was kept, instead soldiers killed 1400; 700 of them kids and women.
28. Egyptian Reporter
Daniel Shir ,   Fort Lauderdale USA   (10.19.11)
Her reputation was never hurt. As soon as israel or anything Israeli or jewish for that matters comments negatively about anyone in the Middle East, it simply increases their stature.. so can you just stop writing about it please ;-)
29. #26 IDF succeed in makeup op to hide signs of torture, so th
observer ,   Egypt   (10.19.11)
so that soldiers might not be frightened of torture.
30. The Translation
Annie ,   USA   (10.19.11)
The craziest part is that the Arabic translation was different from what Gilad actually said. when he said I don't feel good, the translator said "I feel great." There were several more instances that covered over what Gilad said to make it like it wasn't so bad for him, but the truth will come out. Unbelievable. It's true - you can dress them in modern clothes and teach them english but the mentality - mideival.
