1. Tender?
Reuven Ben-Pesach ,   Kfar Saba, Israel   (10.23.11)
In most OECD countries, this would require a public tender. Any decent reporter worth his salt would be questioning that, rather than rewriting the Minister's press release.
2. very smart move. partner with, add in israeli technology and
ralph   (10.23.11)
we have a winning formula. then together go after asian market. partner in every which way with s.korea and repeat. this is where the future lies.
3. The chinese can't do any worse than Israelis
zionist forever   (10.23.11)
The Jerusalem light rail is an example of incompetentence at its best. The thing was years overdue, millions over budget and the thing is still not operating on all routes because they still haven't sorted out some of the signalling. Lets hope China can do a better job on the Eilat route than Israelis do.
4. # 3
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (10.23.11)
Don't worry, we have the same muck-up in Denmark. DSB (Danish Rail Roads and (Scottish) First managed to lose 4 thousand millions DKK on a joint venture project in Sweden. DSB also purchased some 50 Italian- made trains from Breda and these trains are still not running after 5 years of delays. When it comes to trains you can bet your a'' that if they are State run, there will be a huge deficit and mismanagement of the tax payers money.
5. All the money Amercia gives and Chinese get the contract
Josh   (10.23.11)
6. jobs to China, Chinese to take jobs
foo-dog ,   Jerusalem, israel   (10.24.11)
Why not just move all 6 million of us off the Land and send us to China, then bring in 6 million Chinese, convert them to Judaism. This such a corrupt quasi-country.
7. last week's NY Times
Habib Seliman ,   New York, USA   (10.24.11)
With all the respect due to China, having spent some time there, last week in the NY Times there was an article about their high speed line expansion being halted due to financial considerations compounded by the technical issues the encountered a few weeks ago after the high speed train crash.
8. Insanity. They will steal every state secret possible,
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.24.11)
compromise every agency, overcharge and bring in their own people to do the work. As if Israel can't build a railroad??????
9. No.'s 5, 6 & 8 - all wrong
Moshe ,   Rehovot, Israel   (10.24.11)
Eighty percent of the money the US "gives" to Israel stays in the US - by US law - purchasing weapons and creating jobs for Americans. I would welcome six million Chinese converting to Judaism, at least Chinese "Jews" will get their hands dirty and work in construction. And steal state secrets? Be serious!
10. Train line to Eilat
Yoel ,   Israel   (10.24.11)
Mr. Katz, well done I do hope that the line will also be extended to Tel Aviv , Lod and other stations along the way.
11. So why am I thinking of Blazing Saddles?

Asian Philipino househelp here in Montreal, the Jewish men here would all either starve to death or have to make a deal with a Chinese restaurant. Jewish women here dont do Jack nor Bill nor Chaim. The Asians feed us, heal us and in some cases bed us. We Jews cant do s^^^ for ourselves. Its bloody pathetic.
13. #8 + #9
dorothy friend ,   tel Aviv   (10.24.11)
Bunnie, Bunnie, Bunnie!!!! When are you going to come here and spread all your patriotism and love for Israel. What are you doing still in the USA?! And Israel is pretty good at stealing other people's secrets and has even SOLD them to the Chinese...

howard ,   arad israel   (10.25.11)
I travel to China often working on major industrial projects, China is not the answer. look at their own railway saftey record and you will agree And you must read the small print and then tear up the contract, infact the large print means little to our chinese friends, please take care.
16. hello Mr #12
US Navy Officer ,   Ship on the High Sea   (10.25.11)
if it walks, talks, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. if the men are selecting Filipinas to do all these things, it may be that it's because they are better quality women than Montreal Jewesses. In a free market, the cream rises to the top!
17. WOT WENT WONG ?
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (10.25.11)
18. #3 I AGREE!!!!!
Dan ,   Florida   (10.25.11)
This is a failing of the Obama administration and a sign that Obama hates the Israel and is anti-Semitic. .
19. Chinese Trains: A Dismal Record
Essie HaKohane ,   Florida, USA   (10.25.11)
China has a terrible safety record with their train manufacturing. The country itself experienced some horrendous accidents this year, forcing the industry to investigate itself. Many countries are using Germany, France and Japan to develop their rail infrastructure. Wheres, their contracts may be somewhat costlier, their safety records are practically unblemished
