As far as I am concerned the phrase indicating that we Jews are the "chosen people" has always meant that we have been chosen as the scapegoats for all the world's woes. As I read this article, I couldn't help but think it's the Muslims that are insisting that they are the chosen people; actually, they are insisting that they are G-d's only people, and they do it violently. Christians also insist that they are the only ones who are right, but do it less violently than before [at least after the Shoah]. There is no argument to the notion that Jews believe in their exceptionalism as a people in this world.
