1. new anti-semitism
alan ,   akron, ohio   (10.22.11)
This should be published by every news organization. Exactly why Israel is the Jewish homeland...cannot trust any country or group to assure Jewish survival.
2. GOD is not a liar!
Chinaman ,   Australia   (10.22.11)
I'm a Christian and my Holy Bible from The book of The Old Testament - Genesis to the New Testatment - The Revelation confirmed Jews are chosen people of God whether "Christian" like it or not and not to mention muslim (end)
3. Here's a thought...
ilan ,   Sydney   (10.22.11)
The more we pay attention to these anti-semitic morons, the more we become consumed by their hatred and become weakened as a people. Why are we so concerned about pleasing people who are jealous of us and hate us. Enough kissing butt, they can believe whatever they wish. Frankly my dear, I dont give a damn...Let's move on shall we and do what we do best as Jews, fight and be successful in everything we do...Amen to that! Am Yisrael Chai!
4. Who exactly chose us ? and for what ?
Michael ,   Haifa   (10.22.11)
5. new/old
B. Gauthier ,   Vancouver , Canada   (10.22.11)
It pains my heart to see public figures use their platform to slander the special people of God, and by extention, God Himself. Let your readers know that there are thousands of believers who know perfectly well that israel is chosen of God, and happily support Her. God Bless all who love Israel !.
6. Chosen people.
Luiz Felipe Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (10.22.11)
Giulio Meotti's views deserve a good analysis. For us, Christians, Jewish people was the only chosen by God, since His covenant with Abraham. After Jesus's death and ressurrection, that quality was enlarged to all other people around the world. Nevertheless, the Hebrews had suffered very much, from Middle Age to the last century, because of ugly prejudices and wrong interpretations. Verily,Jesus was crucified, not by them, but by all of us, imperfect sinners. Jewish's contributions for progress, into much sciences, has been enormous. Anti Semitism represents, at least, much ignorance. And about Israel, we, Christian friends, do endorse her struggle. Holocaust, never more. Pogroms, never more. Diasporah, never more. I salute you. Shalom. (Abraços), in Portuguese.
7. anti-chosen
moron ,   galut   (10.22.11)
this is very perceptive and is happening everywherre-europe is the first and the worst but not the last as secular left, churches islam and oil all agree to hate us first and then eachother after
8. Life is not easy being a Jew.GOD chose
Eric... ,   Israel...........   (10.22.11)
the Jews as his chosen people.GOD said, not me or the Jewish people said we are the chosen people.GOD said that we are his chosen people.I wish GOD would have chosen somebody else, life would be much easier for us.Do you the anti-Semites understand what I am saying? Jealously will get you no were.
9. "I have loved thee with an everlasting love"
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (10.22.11)
"“Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves therefore roar: the LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me: saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus saith the LORD, if heaven above can be measured, and the foundation of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 31:35-37 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3 how can anyone not touch by such a love, G-D loves Israel everlastingly! pl post, toda rabah!
10. Who, what, where ,and when did we get this badge to suffer.
Arnold ,   Canada   (10.22.11)
As far as I am concerned the phrase indicating that we Jews are the "chosen people" has always meant that we have been chosen as the scapegoats for all the world's woes. We have been chosen to suffer during the Crusades, the Inquisitions , the pogroms, the Holocaust, and now whatever new excuse you "good" Christians and "peaceful" moslems are looking to kill us with.
11. Being chosen
lidia ,   Israel   (10.22.11)
means that we are entitled tocertain privileges or at least we aren't doomed to suffer. As far as I know our history is plagued with persecution, humiliation, and extermination. Would our enemies prefer that choice?
12. The Jews as God's Chosen People
Yacov Oren ,   Barbados   (10.22.11)
Those who deny this truth are either atheists, lack knowledge of Scripture, or twisters of facts. The Bible that the Jews and Christians believe as the Word of G-d clearly teaches the choosing of Israel as His own people, not to be greater than other nations but as a Light to other nations, to reveal to them who G-d really is. They are the People of the Book. Anyone who wants to reverse Israel as G-d's chosen people may present their complaint directly to G-d. It was He who made the decision to establish His covenant with israel.
13. People come and people go...
Curtis ,   USA   (10.22.11)
The Bible is full of references to Hashem's special relationship with Israel and the Jewish people. The Bible also says His Word abides forever and He changes not. Anyone attempting to change God's Word is in for a big surprise on Judgment Day. Ouch!
14. Chosen People
Robert ,   Tampa Usa   (10.22.11)
In Israel it seems to me that the "chosen people" mantra has morphed into something more akin to a Jewish "master race" among the Ultra- orthodox and the settlers. When Former Chief Rabbi Yosef claims that goyim were created, like donkeys, to serve the Jews is this "chosen people" or "master race"? How many Shas concur with Rabbi Yosef's views?
15. Thilo Sarrazin is quite pro-Jewish and quite pro-Israel
Mikey ,   SomeWhere OverHere   (10.22.11)
The author of the article is quite right that many anti-Zionists and and anti-Israel people have an unhealthy obsession with the idea of the "chosen people" (which I have noticed constantly mentioned out of all context in debates about Israel online), but leaving that aside Sarrazin, if anything, is philo-Semitic and pro-Israel (albeit he stuck his foot in his mouth and was misunderstood) and shouldn't be lumped in with the nutters.
16. There is no one to do the choosing, that's why.
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.22.11)
17. Giulio, as usual, is adept at bringing
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (10.22.11)
people together.
18. Coptic Christians
Steve   (10.22.11)
Miotti wrote: “Modern-day Jews are not God’s chosen people,” the head of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Shenouda III, declared recently in a meeting with former US President Jimmy Carter...." Since Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was forced to step down by Obama, we see Coptic Christians coming under increasing persecution from the Muslim majority. I read the outrage in behalf of the Copts on pro-Israel websites. I thought they were our friends. Guess I was wrong.
19. Israel MUST Remain a Jewish State
Dallas ,   Canada   (10.22.11)
Read Richard J. Evans' Trilogy of the Third Reich... and you will see the same dynamic happening again. Jews are again the world's scapegoat - the ultimate distraction to focus all the self-hatred of the world. Israel MUST retain its character as the Jewish State, since, with no minority in one place in the world, the pogroms and genocide will happen again. We have learned nothing from history.
20. Possibly American Jews don't get Israeli behavior.
Ben   (10.22.11)
Many of these claims can be seen rooted in what is spoken everyday from the lips of Israelis. A number of them make many claims that are similar to what they antisemitist make. Genetics for example. Superiority, as another. Making Friars of visitors. Even the "N" word.
21. The temporary embargo on hating Jews is over
USA   (10.22.11)
After the holocaust it was unfashionable to hate Jews, but fashions change. Study Meir Kahane and understand.
22. Choseness is a fake and meaningless concept.
JMK ,   NYC   (10.22.11)
The Tanach is complete fiction. The NT and Koran are fiction. Hence, Supersessionism is a false concept, based upon nothing but reclaiming a fictional claim based upon a more recent fiction. Everyone is equal, nobody is intrinsically better than anyone else.
23. The Chosen People
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.22.11)
As I read this article, I couldn't help but think it's the Muslims that are insisting that they are the chosen people; actually, they are insisting that they are G-d's only people, and they do it violently. Christians also insist that they are the only ones who are right, but do it less violently than before [at least after the Shoah]. And all these people are angry at the JEWS for using the phrase "chosen people"!? They don't like Jews usurping 'their' title?!. Note: They feel they are the chosen in that they are the best and only. Judaism teaches that Jews are chosen to spread the Word of G-d, not that they [we] are the best. You can get to heaven if you are a non-Jew by observing the Laws of Noah; you do not even have to observe all the Ten Commandments.
24. The enduring self appointed children of God.
Chas. ,   Los Angeles   (10.22.11)
There is no argument to the notion that Jews believe in their exceptionalism as a people in this world. It is this myth that has allowed them to endure and thrive for over thousands of years and will probably continue to do so. But, they can't have their cake and eat too, the price they must pay for this impertinence is the resentment of the larger society ie, anti antisemitism.
25. They seem more obsessed with the notion
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (10.22.11)
Than most Jews. How often does the average Jew think of himself as "one of the chosen"?
26. Good!
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (10.22.11)
This proves that we are right! If they get so nervous it's because they know we are right and it's hard for them to accept! We have just one friend and he will take care of the whole bunch of Jew haters (including self haters)
27. It is good to feel we are the "chosen" people.
noa ,   israel   (10.22.11)
It means we feel loved, and that we don't have to prove anything. It means we don't have to be embittered or full of hate. It means we have an obligation to return that love and be worthy of it. And by the way, we were "chosen" we did not "choose", and we were not chosen to have privilages but to fulfill obligations and deeds outlined by God. Part of being chosen means the State does not have "capital punishment". Part of being "chosen" means honoring mothers and fathers and remembering the Shabbat. All laws in the world are based on these 10 commandments, introduced by the "chosen" people.
28. All above proves that AntiZionism/Israelism is AntiJewism in a modern envelope
Alan ,   SA   (10.22.11)
29. it's the other way,
Marc ,   Belgium   (10.22.11)
The Jews are obsessed with this concept of "chosen people".
30. What is better than a good Jew?
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (10.22.11)
Nothing. Let them platz.
