1. You lost me here
Igor ,   Israel, T"A   (10.24.11)
So I understand that "espionage, sedition and the attempted arson" in Egypt cost only 25 detainees. It's accessible. Can we buy the season ticket?
2. It stinks
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (10.24.11)
The deal stinks, the Egyptian government stinks like Hamas and Hizbollah and the US administration stinks like accessories to a crime. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
3. Excuse me?! Grapel entered Egypt on USA passport....
Revital ,   Israel   (10.24.11)
so exactly how is this idiot's problem Israel's responsibility to solve? Really!? Really?! Really?!
4. update: only 25 prisoners
observer ,   Egypt   (10.24.11)
22 security prisoners plus 3 minors from Sinai Bedouins who were enticed in by Israel to "earn some money to support their poor families". The swap is supposed to take place within 48 hours via Taba crossing.
5. how horrible...how dare they do this...
Danielle ,   c   (10.24.11)
this is an abomination...I HATE this deal... I am at a loss for more words....
6. 2 - It stinks ,...
split ,   US   (10.24.11)
Yeah, from your direction ;) ,... Our Secretary of Defence, Gates was there few weeks ago to make a deal and came back with nothing. It looks like they got the goodies on him pointing to Mossad and have made you an offer that you can't refuse ,... An another botched job and so much for Mossad's reputation,...
7. The other prisoner
Ruth ,   Ramat Efal, Israel   (10.24.11)
And why isn't the Israeli government releasing the other Israeli who has been held for over 11 years in an Egyptian prison and was arrested when he tried to visit his sister in Rafiah. I suppose that he isn't important because he is only an Israeli Bedouin! That is really disgusting. Grapel was a fool and is only being released because of American pressure. Shame on our government for pushing for Grapel's release and leaving the really innocent man to languish in a Egyptian dungeon.
8. #3 He's An Israeli Espionage Asset
World Citizen ,   the world   (10.24.11)
Why wouldn't Israel bargain for him? Lots of "Americans" holding US passports spy for Israel. Think of Jonathan Pollard.
9. #4 blindman
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.24.11)
"3 minors from Sinai Bedouins who..." You're stretching with your fairy tales again.
10. Lieberman: Grapel is absolutely proven not guilty
observer ,   Egypt   (10.25.11)
so says Amir's mother; my son is not guilty. so says also mother of Auda al-Trabin.
11. C I A agent
Grod ,   USA   (10.25.11)
Grapel is a C I A agent. Why do u think the US want him back so badly? Israel should arrest him & trade him for Pollard.
12. #6 split, #8 world
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.24.11)
Your fantasies never cease to entertain. Innocently enough, they always show what you wish happened. Coincidence, of course.
13. iron dome
mohson   (10.25.11)
israel, do not let russian anywhere near iron dome. Don't sell it to any country that is close to russia, which is the prime sponsor of iran and arab missile terror though putin pretends to be friendly to israel. and do not allow barak to go on trade mission to russian himself as he caves in easily. He is the one, are you ready for this to release additional prisoners to strengthen abbas who is rotten and empty to the core, the soft face of arafat. He is the one who denies the jewish connection to the land and questions the holocaust. Move barak to minister of fixing clocks and get him the hell out of defense where he is poison to israel. Ask ashkenazi, ask galant, ask nasrollah, ask marmora commandos.
14. #9 Azzam Azzam was released in exchange for 6 students
observer ,   Egypt   (10.25.11)
six Egyptian students were captured. Israel's suspicions against them sounded exaggerated: they were charged with planning to steal an IDF tank, kidnap and kill soldiers and rob a bank. UNARMED teen students! Israel has yet to refine its techniques for better bargains in the future.
15. Isn't he Obama's responsibility
Mordechai   (10.25.11)
Perhaps Obama could just tell the Egyptians release him immediately or the 2 billion in US aid goes away
16. Why is the USA bothered?
Shalom Hartman   (10.25.11)
The guy is an extreme left-wing, anti-Obama, anti-Israel fool. Just because the release of Gilad Shalit was approved has NOTHING to do with letting prisoners go in general
17. #11 grod
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.25.11)
The US does not want him back so badly. If they did, they'd handle it themselves and not leave it to Israel to make the exchange. It's probably a way for the present Egyptian government to gain some recognition of their assisting the negotiations that will look good in the eyes of Egyptians. And a sop given to them by Israel at the request of the US.
18. Oh, I get it!...
Frauss ,   Jerusalem   (10.25.11)
Maybe if we release 2000 American prisoners from our jails, maybe Obama will release Pollard!
19. heavy prices ahead of Israel to to prove its Jew-protective
observer ,   Egypt   (10.25.11)
obligation!!. Israel will be turned into a safe haven for every Jewish criminal. Why haven't the US interfered in Grapel issue, like France in Gilad question.
20. non-security issues
observer ,   Egypt   (10.25.11)
now, planning to destroy Israel's buildings and factories are not security issue.
21. 19 - Why haven't the US interfered in Grapel issue
split ,   US   (10.25.11)
Let him rot, we don't need a 'patriots' like him that volunteered to serve in IDF instead in US Armed Forces,...
