General Alon did his duty. In the army you are assinged a duty and given orders and you fulfill them. "The easy way out" would have been to ass lick the settlers and be their rubber stamp but General Alon has shown his mettle and fulfilled his duty. It would be far more accurate to acknowledge that Judea and Samaria make Israel viable. Israel would not last a decade if we were craven enough to retreat from Judea and Samaria; which the vast majority of us are not.
