1. Turkey & Israel excellent humanitarian relations...
(10.25.11)
we are NOT going to speak about the current state of diplomatic relations... we are going to focus on the humanitarian relations and in this area both countries get a perfect score because they both know to assist their neighbors when needed!
2. Good that Turkey has asked for our help.
Eric.......... ,   Israel.....   (10.25.11)
Good that we can help those poor people.I am proud of Israel that we can help and that we show we are a compassionate people.
3. More could hace been saved
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (10.25.11)
The should have accepted Israel's help when Israel offered it, then may be more would have been saved!
4. light

once again-the light to the nations-to shine through the darkness.Tzedek,tzedek...
5. Erdogan's Cruelty to his own people
DavidM ,   USA   (10.25.11)
For several days Turkish civilians have suffered from the earthquake because Mr. Erdogan refused to allow Israel's rescue teams to assist. Nobody will ever know how many people could have been rescued from the rubble had he allowed the Israeli team to help. For a leader to put his political position ahead of the survival of his own people is unforgivable.
6. Good decision
Emre ,   Istanbul   (10.25.11)
We never hated Israelis and we will never hate them. We have some mutual disagreements and i hope these will be solved soon. We need to tell Israel we were wrong by sending IHH to Israel and Israel need to tell we apologize for the deaths. That's all ! Thanks once again offering help and i hope not using it by PR :)... Regards
7. publicity
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (10.25.11)
Whatever Israel sends to Turkey should have written on it--in large letters, Hebrew, English and Turkish--"A Gift from the People of Israel" -or words to that effect. The Turkish man in the street needs to see who is helping. If the Turkish government doesn't like these terms--get help elsewhere!
8. good...
Dketerstov ,   Israel   (10.25.11)
but please, dont let others to kidnap you lol!!...
9. I was a day late
Simcha ,   NYC USA   (10.25.11)
I really thought the emergency call would come the next day. But at least they asked!.....and we shall deliver-all for the sake of saving lives - one of the truly beautiful aspects of Jewish belief and teaching.
10. Emre
rob ,   Orangevale Ca. USA   (10.25.11)
By your fearless choice to love, you have opened the door for the same. The strength you showed in a small TB outshines all the vitriol, all the radical nationalism and has even superseded religion. It only takes an outstretched hand in time of real need to open the eyes of people. You will be in our fervent prayers, and I'd like to help in any way I can. If there's a foundation or some other way I can contribute, I would be more than happy to. The world doesn't have to hate itself. Israel will help. Just ask. Shalom Israel, Shalom Turkey. Rob
11. Turkey helped with Carmel Israel fires
Goldstein ,   Haifa   (10.25.11)
We should help too
12. I will write nothing.Expect over 100 Posters opinions
Alan ,   SA   (10.25.11)
13. #3 Mark.. Pride is a killer
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (10.25.11)
Note that they only asked for mobile homes and not search and rescue teams...notwithstanding, better they rang than not at all
14. The mutual helping hand
Roy   (10.25.11)
Hopefully, such things will bring the countries together again. Wishing a quick recovery to all the injured.
15. Help for Turkey
Ezra ,   Florida   (10.25.11)
I am all ffor it. But somehow deep down I am waiting for the other shoe to drop:: Just when Egdoran is going to blame Israel for the earthquake and demand an apology for her "crimes" against Turkey?
16. Yes and NO #6
Israeli 2   (10.25.11)
Yes, it is good to admit that you were wrong by sending IHH to Israel. NO, Israel has nothing to apologize for the deaths. When an enemy with weapons attack us and as a result they get killed we do not have to apologize. I am glad to know that YOU are our friend, Emre. You are welcome.
17. G-d Speed.
Adam ,   Ramat-Gan   (10.25.11)
18. @ 6 Emre ....Good (almost)
(& @1: eff off!) ,   er der   (10.25.11)
I like your sentiment and will, however, Israel already stated, withing hours of the 'Flotila' event, that she regreted the fact that there was loss of life as a result of what had taken place. No, we are not "using it" (our humane offer to help ANY civillians) for PR purposes. You are welcome.
19. are they kidding?
Ankara, Turkey   (10.25.11)
what is the point of declining aid offers for the first 48 hours, which is a crucial time period for saving lives, and then accepting the offer. what you did first was a mistake, even beyond mistake, but you should at least be consistent. this government drives me crazy. they first let people die, and then call for aid as if they are kidding with dead people. it is the worst crisis management ever.
20. Emre Istanbul
JUDAH THE LION   (10.25.11)
Dear Cousin, In our Torah it is written if you save the life of one human being, its like you save the whole world. May G D bless the people who is suffering from this mother nature disaster, and the injured wish them speedy recovery
21. This is a good thing
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.25.11)
Israel has the heavy earth-moving equipment; Israel has the medical technology and personnel; Israel has the cholera vaccines (water tables in Turkey have been severely contaminated because sewage pipes were destroyed in the quake); Israel has trailers and Quonset huts that can be deployed for emergency short -- and even longer -- term housing; Israel has heavy-duty battery operated generators; Israel can fly in food and fresh water. Everything and all necessary personnel can be in Turkey in a matter of a few hours. I wish it had not taken this long. I wonder how many people died needlessly. But now that we have been formally asked, we need to bring relief to the quake-stricken area of Turkey with all deliberate speed.
22. More than 50 nations offered Turkey help
Suleyman/solomon ,   Utopia   (10.25.11)
It isnt a disaster if israel helps or not, there is help from everywhere in the world
23. All those in favour...
Naive Cricket ,   Earthville   (10.25.11)
Say "AYE!"........ AYE! All those who don't expect a 'royal Erdogan slap-in-the-face' to Israel say "AYE!".......
24. Last year on Mt. Carmel
(10.25.11)
Turkey was one of the first ones there in addition to Jordan and Egypt. Of course Israel is still highly regarded in Istanbul, for their rescue of hundred of people trapped in the rubble of the 1999 earthquake
25. I am appalled at the lack of urgency shown by Erdogan
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.25.11)
to save Turkish lives. He prefers to ask for mobile homes for the living rather than assistance to extract and save the lives of those buried under the rubble. What manner of beast is this?! I am truly sorry for the Turkish people who have to contend with such a heartless and stupid leader. This is absolutely disgusting. With that attitude, no wonder Erdogan is carrying the country the backward instead of forward. His priorities are really questionable.
26. To: Emre at No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.25.11)
Israel's immediate offer to help -- and I am relieved to learn that the Turkish government has taken Israel up on its offer -- was made purely for humanitarian reasons. Israel is the country closest to Turkey that has the requisite equipment and manpower to aid the victims of this devastating earthquake. Public relations is the last thing on any Israeli's mind. This is not a photo op. Human lives are at stake; there are still people buried under tons of rubble, thousands have been made homeless; medical crises abound and there is not enough food and fresh water. We will fix all that. It's what Jews do.
27. To: Ankara at No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.25.11)
The extent of the damage has likely surpassed initial reports. We know that there are serious shortages, the number of victims far exceeds the initial estimates, and Turkish government officials quickly realized that they do not have the wherewithal to combat all the problems on its own. There are countries in the world that do; Israel happens to be the closest. I am certain that aid will now also be forthcoming from Western Europe, Oceania and North America. But whereas it would take any of the relevant countries a day or two to organize the transfer of aid, Israel is used to deploying quickly and can be there in just a few short hours.
28. To: Mark at No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.25.11)
I suspect that Turkey asked for considerably more in the way of assistance, and I have no doubt that Israel will respond. Yesterday, the announcement from the Turkish government was that they were only accepting aid from Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Meaning no disrespect to either of the foregoing countries, but they are third world countries and simply cannot muster up the degree and the quality of assistance that Israel can deploy in a matter of hours. I'm sure that Israel will send medical teams, including trauma surgeons such as were sent to Haiti, power generators, food and fresh water and earth moving equipment. Winter is coming, and people will need even the most rudimentary assistance -- blankets, bedding, clean clothes, dishes, cutlery -- thousands are homeless and in need of shelter. It is unfortunate that it took Turkey this long to respond. When minutes count, you cannot waste days.
29. Ooh another israel website, i thought haaretz was only 1
Mellisa ,   US   (10.25.11)
Why is turkey accepting? Do theu not remember what israel did to them. I will admit that israel is known for having best search and rescue, but before accepting, turkey should demand apology. Israel will use as PR. Israel is the best at PR in the world. And erdogan who is one of the greatest leaders of all time should know better. Plus israel supports PKK which is a terror group, dont anyone remember lieberman saying this? Israel funds, gives weapons and trains the PKK. Very dangerous erdogan, israel will run to the world, and say looky looky we did somethimg good, arent we the best. Israelis never forget a favor............they did.
30. Turkey should say we will accept aid only
Yossi G. ,   Tel Aviv, IS   (10.25.11)
if israel apologizes for massacre on mavi marmara. Turkey should have 3 demands before accepting the aid. 1. Israel apologizes and pays compensation 2. Israeli Government give in to social justice protestors demands 3. Lifting of illegal gaza siege and allow right of return of palestinians. Until those 3 demands are met, then turkey should accept. I feel bad for my country. We need socialist government again. Our economy will crumble under netanyahu regime. We need to give free housing to the low class, and start giving the homeless enough money to pay for apartment and food and toiletries. Im leavimg for ny tomorrow to join occupy wall street protests. The world should knpw the truth about israel. We spend so much on defense and'people in tel aviv can eat or have roof on their head. We need tuo bring back the welfare state and end capitalism in israel. We are going down the tubes. Look at what we caused, we are making the palestinians suffer all because we took their land. Just wait until we have our first palestinian prime minister, we will be fixed then and will be forced to live in peace. And ynet please do not censor, i said nothing mean and i did not curse, i only spoke my kind, theres no reason to censor, i enjoy this website, and i like to be able to speak my mind. Thank you, Yossi G.
