moti ,   usa   (10.27.11)
ashdod, then rishon, then bat yam, then holon, then what? clan of murderers in our backyard, time to take the gloves off. Israel need leadership with guts not gestures
2. Bomb Gaza into rubble
Menachem ,   Israel   (10.27.11)
and it won't be fun anymore shooting rockets on Israeli women and children. This is the only language this human garbage understands.
3. Rockets fired into Israel from gaza strip
Mrs Marion Genes ,   Essex England   (10.27.11)
Israel should now stop releasing anymore of the agreed prisoners. The enemy of Israel has surely now overplayed their hand.
4. Misunderstanding?
Daniel ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.27.11)
There were many tweets by Palestinians in Gaza that there was an explosion in the Zaiton neighborhood. People are falsely mistaking this for an Israeli airstrike. Hamas, being the intellectuals that they are, probably thought it was a random airstrike and fired a rocket at Israel for no reason.
5. In the Middle East perception is reality and
Stephen in New York   (10.27.11)
perceived weakness invites aggression.
6. hamas
cameron ,   canada   (10.27.11)
Why pay to keep them in your jails, take no prisoners
7. Back to abnormal
USA   (10.27.11)
It is normal only for Jews to live under threat of rocket fire.
8. Grad
Debbie ,   Israel   (10.27.11)
This is a very misleading caption, and article. What does Gilad Shalit's release have to do with this? Why write "Grad falls for the first time since Gilad Shalit's release". His release has absolutely nothing to do with grads falling, and its rediculous to make it look as though the one event led to the other. Missiles fell on a daily basis all during his imprisonment, and they're still falling. What exactly is the story here?
9. No misunderstanding
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (10.27.11)
# 4--EVERY rocket every fired into Israel has been fired at Israel for "no reason" As far as Hamas and the Palestinians are concerned the existence of Israel is a reason! This is not unexpected. All those terrorists now in Gaza. Some spent years in Israeli prisons. I would imagine they are all anxious to practice their trades and update their skills. I am sure that this, unfortunately, is the first of many!
10. Rockets from Gaza
Stan ,   Sydney, Australia   (10.27.11)
Just as the terrorists fire indiscriminately into Israel so should Israel pinpointedly wipe out the Hamas leadership -- they do not have any human security anymore. And, furthermore, the other 500 odd should stay in their jails.
11. Now would be a great time to bomb the Al-Mashtal
meir elazar   (10.27.11)
and cancel the release of a significant number of the terrorist to send the message but leave enough incentive in place to stop any further missile launches.
12. # 8
Lynn Davidson ,   USA   (10.27.11)
I agree 100% with you! Also I believe Gaza needs a stronger message from Israel since they continue to fire rockets. I think Israel should up the retaliation!
13. Stop the prisoner exchange
Veronique ,   Rehovot   (10.27.11)
If they bombard us, the exchange of prisoners should be cancelled.
14. fire back
fire back   (10.27.11)
I agree, Gaza in ruins
15. I told you so
Rabbi Yakov Lazaros ,   USA   (10.27.11)
This attack and the one on the soldiers jeep are the work of the terrorists released in the Shalit dea May Hashem protect the Jews of Israel from them and from their foolish Govt.l.
16. where is erdogan ?
fad egypt   (10.27.11)
while israel is helping his country in its crisis , his beloved hamas is firing grad rockets at israel so what is he going to say ? fire works ???!!! or celebrations for shalit deal ???!!!! perhaps we must ask erdogan himself shalom
17. ...and these are the people to whom some at the UN want...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (10.27.11)
...to hand over a "state", so that it will be able to continue to attack center of civilian population of a fellow UN member state, Israel... What a cynical world and what a cynical organization...!! It is high time the US Canada, Australia and the European Union states cease their financial support of the United Nations and its affiliated organizations!!
18. They cannot help themselves, can they?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.27.11)
Of course, since Gilad Shalit has come home, we can exact a very punishing revenge, can't we? I think we should. MAKE THEM PAY DEARLY. I think we should also cut elecricity and fresh water and the countless quantities of humanitarian aid which Israel trucks into the Strip every week. I think when the ordinary people of Gaza get tired of Hamas, they will find a way to get rid of that vile bunch. We owe it to them to help them in their quest.
19. indisciminantly fire back
Jack ,   Brooklyn   (10.27.11)
why not just fire back at them indiscriminantly. why shouldnt IDF just hand out rockets to near by population centers to fire back... ?
20. hamas and the terrorists
joel ,   usa   (10.27.11)
netanyahu will long be remembered if more israeli civilian casualties will result from those terrorists bpmbings that were freed by him in exchange for shalit?
21. Palestinians refuse peace talks, commit war crimes
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.27.11)
Firing an anti-personnel weapon indiscriminately at a civilian population is a war crime. When will the world wake up to the fact that the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians are the problem here?
22. No big
Cameron ,   USA   (10.27.11)
Both sides have gotten exceedingly comfortable with this weekly routine.
23. Thank you Sharon
KACH 613 ,   JUDAH, Israel   (10.27.11)
Because of your disengagement plan they can shoot from Dugit.
24. What`s new pussy cat ?
Nora Tel Aviv   (10.27.11)
Back to square one. Now, without Shalit in their hands, Israel should behave differently. No more velvet gloves.
25. 18
Angel ,   US   (10.27.11)
Cutting off water and electricity will never happen-Israel cannot afford to do that.Only targeted assassinations work -kill all the Hamas leaders then the people will have no one to pay them etc.
26. very good # 8
dketerstov ,   Israel   (10.27.11)
well, you know that kind of argument is called yellow journalism and Friedman practice it in the nyt which allow him to catch some pullitzer prizes lol
27. Why?
Daoud ,   Ramallah   (10.27.11)
Why, Hamas? They give you 1.027 of your idiots back and you launch rockets at them? How can we have a state with idiots like this in our government?
28. And the response?
Tim ,   Brighton   (10.27.11)
1. Make a full report of this attack and send it to the media around the world 2. Make a full statement of this attack to the UN (and shove the report up that goon Chris Gunnes at UNWRA Gaza Dim Jim Carter and the Gruesome Twosome Tonge and Benn - leaders of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign in the UK) 3. Give Hamas 24 Hours to respond and explain this attack 4. If no reponse attack specific targets of value PLUS stop all cross border activity in and out of Gaza for 24 hours. And ensure that the world knows that HAMAS have to take sole responsibility for its actions and Israels response 5. Personally Im not hampered by the baggage of so called 'proportionality'. Because I see this attack for what it is. An unprovoked indiscrimate rocket attack aimed at civilians. And any reponse by Israel is to be dictated by the need to protect its civilians FIRST not by proportionality which by its very definition puts an onus on Israel to carry the responsibility for Gazan casualties when it must be seen to be carried by Hamas alone And the final desparate irony to all this? Everywhere for the last few months probably fostered by the Arab Spring - Ive seen a gradual change in mood from Gazans who see perpetual confrontation as futile and a peace with Israel as the way forward to a prosperous and successful Palestinian nation. Rather goes against this latest attack? Does that mean that Hamas is out of touch with its people?
29. Grad rockets lands near Ashdod
JUDAH THE LION   (10.27.11)
Israel should hit Hamas very hard, and Israel should ignore world outcry. The world is ignoring when Hamas fire at Israel, then Israel should do the same. Pity we do not have PM like David Ben Gurion
30. 25
LION OF JUDAH   (10.27.11)
