2. In my midwestern high school world history textbook
JustMe ,   Israel   (10.30.11)
we had an entire chapter devoted to the Arab countries of the middle east and barely one page about Israel. The Israeli portion had two "features": Gadna, which was the name of the Israeli scouts program, and intifada. Obviously, this was propaganda material disguised as education. Anyway, we discovered that a Saudi "academic" was responsible for this chapter, appealed to the local board with a complaint, and the district eventually replaced the book. Whether the replacement was any better remains a mystery.
3. Surprised?
Dovid ,   Israel   (10.30.11)
The position of the current Israeli government and its rabid supporters is, "We'll do what we want. We don't care if the world hates us." So what's the big deal. Israel reaps what it sows. And do you know what? Many Israelis hate the current "Israel" as well.
4. this is why college campuses are the way they are
eli ,   usa   (10.30.11)
hatred is taught from a young age and remains for a long time, intellectuals are some of the biggest culprits, no different than during holocaust. We must figure out a way to have a world-wide standard for education, devoid of hate.
5. Oh come on...
John Q. ,   Florida, US   (10.30.11)
You mean you want them to promote the lies and not the truth! Israel and its jews can's handle the world seeing them for who they are! Cover or even better manipulate the truth as much as possible. Well, the world is waking up. No more lies. Deal with it.
6. INCORRECT ARTICLE
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (10.30.11)
At least on the US high school text book issue the article is flat wrong. It seems that the article's authors and contributors aren't pleased unless there is unqualified support for Israel. Once again, any and all criticizism is viewed as hatred and antisemitism. Thin skins and "special" demands rule. Children in the US are required to read the Diary of Anne Frank and the fictional work Night by Wiesel. There is no required reading on the "Arab" side. My kids' American History (note, not world history) textbooks had more pages (6) devoted to Holocaust than the American role in the Pacific in WW2. The US Holocaust Museum attended by many school kids on mandatory school visits was built well before the WW2 Memorial in Washington DC. Never fear, Jewish activists and academics have your PR well covered here, not to mention the constant barrage of pro-Israel and Pro-Jewish "historical" movies, plays, etc. spewing forth from Hollyweird. Arabs have been portrayed as the bad guys forever so need to worry there either. I suggest the writers provide a more factual article and rely more on facts rather than opinions. You are not exempt from critical examination.
7. #3 Dovid
David ,   USA   (10.30.11)
Feel free to leave. I will be glad to take your citizenship and home and to fight and defend Israel just as she is.
8. Badly written article
Giliboy da dudey lad ,   dudin it around town   (10.30.11)
Much of what is written is anecdotal and hardly stands up to the alarmist title of the article which has prospective readers believing that "European educators brainwash European minds" - when in fact its just Saudi Muslims in Saudi Muslim schools - in Europe... thats not exactly what we're led to believe tho is it?
9. Fostering of Israel-hatred
BA ,   Sweden   (10.30.11)
This is rampart also here in Sweden.
10. It's painful to live here
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (10.30.11)
I am living here. I am born here, but the attitude, this article tells us about is the inconvenient truth. Yes! The education about what happened in Germany's history is totally inadequate. Since I went to school nothing changed. Children learn a few dates and numbers and visit an exhibition in a concentration camp. Finally they write a test at school and that's it. Germans don't have an Idea about the fact, that there is practically no Jew who didn't loose relatives during the Shoa and they are not aware, that whole extended families have been wiped out. Germany are not aware, that there is practically no German citizen who doesn't have relatives, in earlier generations, who were involved the one or the other way. They cannot bear their own responsibility and it seems they believe, they can repair anything by supporting the poor Palestinians against the bad Israelis. And in the same breath they say in the direction of Israel, that they are friends of Israel and among friends it must be allowed to criticize each other. So Israel may please take this criticism positive and act accordingly and please stop committing crimes they, the Germans only too pleased, compare with their own crimes during the Nazi regime. They don't realize the perfidy in this way of arguing! I am sick of it! I am not halakhic Jewish but coming year I will try to migrate to Israel and I hope you let me.
11. To Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld
Nancy ,   Belgium   (10.30.11)
I would really like to know what book in Belgium says : “When a Palestinian child in Jerusalem saw a Jewish soldier arriving, he shrank in fear.”
12. #3 “dovid”
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.30.11)
Israel is defending itself. They withdrew from Gaza, remember?; and got rockets and suicide bombers in return. They withdrew from most of the WB, remember? They had to go back in because what Israel received then was suicide bus bombers. The wall put a stop to that. It seems you learned from those very books the article is about. Don't keep your eyes closed for too long. "We'll do what we want” is the arab mantra, not Israel’s.
13. ''PROMOTING..''
SJOERD RUURDVAN DER ,   MULTIVERSE   (10.30.11)
AWAY WITH THAT ''ISRAELI'' SELF-PITY, AND LET US TRY TO BEHAVE AS WISE PEOPLE.
14. All Jewish KIDS must...
David ,   USA   (10.30.11)
learn Krav maga. I take it and I can kick most people's assss. I recommend all parents enroll there kids or even themselves in Krav Maga classes to learn how to deal with haters. Take Krav for a one year and you will drop 90 percent of people pretty easily.

16. Falsehood in norwegian media
Beary White ,   Norway   (10.30.11)
Norwegian state radio and tv had a report from the weekends rocket-attack form the strip. With great hounour the reports tells the rockets were an answer to israeli raids, and did not mention that the norwegian-lefist friends on gaza initiated the violence and killings. This is what the people of Norway get of information from the state channel. I think it might be the same info as the gazans get from hamas controlled radio..

I would be interested in that one too.....
18. Shocking news. Many Europeans don't like Jews.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.31.11)
The latest shocking news is that many Europeans, notably on the left, don't like Jews. Europe has a 2,000 year old history of persecuting Jews and bowing before tyrants. It's not going to change any time soon.

k ,   US   (10.31.11)
Maybe they just do not care, they support the Palestinians because they know if the Palestinians and Muslims are strong, they will eventually finish what Germany started Germany knows it is annoying to have the "Holocaust" hanging over their heads For them the best way to deal with it is to finish the Final Solution
20. #6: That';s right - there IS an ARab side to the Holocaust!
Susan ,   DC, USA   (10.31.11)
It's that Arafat's uncle was hand-in-glove with the Nazis! But it *is* nice of you to admit, Frank-el, that anti-Israeli feeling ISJew-hatred: YOU are the one equating "learning about the Holocaust" with "teaching "Israel's side" in the Middle East." Thank you for admitting it so plainly.
21. It is obscene what goes on in Europe ...given their track
EST ,   Miami USA   (10.31.11)
record....they should wake up because they are on a downward spiral....Like Niemoeller's poem, in the end Europeans might find themselves saying, "... and when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me..." They are busily building their world caliphate...
22. Just teach European History: anyone would HATE them
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (10.31.11)
All u have to do is teach european history in general up to this very day: anyone taught about Europe objectively would automatically LOATHE those savages. Yvette the most inhumane sub-Simians the world has ever known. I won't even VISIT that hell hole. It's a place of bloodthirst and backward, animistic savagery.
23. Education must be encouraged
Anadelfos ,   Athens Greece   (10.31.11)
This weekend I had the chance to read a book writen by an englishman,( Mosawer ) about Hitler's occupation in Greece during 1941-1944. A whole chapter was devoted to the raids on Jewish community and the professional way of extermination. The sadistic role of Eichman and Max Merten who succeded to annihilate 90% of Thessaloniki Jewish community and take their homes and shops. I think that whoever reads what happened then will realize the value of freedom and fight for that. Don't you ever again let others to decide about your right on life. The Arabs have to understand that you will not become sheep for slaughtering, after surviving such a holocaust. So education about all these real facts must be encouraged.Don't be shy about the truth.
24.  Kibbutz movement countered anti israel brainwashing
ky   (10.31.11)
Israel once had a thriving kibbutz volunteer program to which idealistic young and even older people could identify with a wonderful experience throughout their lives. Thanks to a succession of conservative governments the kibbutz movement is no longer what it was . It wasn't the sort of brainwashing education described here which Saudi foundations are financing , but a real life experience in which young people could see for themselves the nature of Israel . The kibbutz was the best ambassador Israel ever had and yet Israel has waved it away as no longer relevant. Why?
25. Liberal Professors In USA Are Doing It Too
Dan ,   USA   (10.31.11)
26. #6 frank, #13 sjoerd
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.31.11)
I agree that articles should be factual. But the more factual they are, the more they will approach what Israel's supporters are saying.
27. #5 john
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.31.11)
No, we want them to promote the truth. The world is not yet waking up to the lies: that the Pals are decendants of the Canaanites, that Rachel's tomb is a mosque, that all of them were thrown out in 1948 (as opposed to the vast majority leaving at the behest of the arab armies), that Israel is apartheid (which it definitely is not; although Abbas has stated that any Palestinian state will be judenrien!), ad infinitum. These are the lies. Deal with it.
28. Badly written article, #8?
Sceptique ,   France   (10.31.11)
How do you know the authors are writing only about Saudi Muslims schools? In fact, the article mentions public schools! How did you convince yourself the authors were talking about Saudi-sponsored schools?
29. #3 "Dovid", don't let the door hit you...
Tahl   (10.31.11)
So, everything is the Israeli government's fault, and all the rabid Israel-hatred festivals in Europe are justified? Do us all a favor, "Dovid" - if you hate your country so much (and have the hutzpa to write in quotes), then get the hell out, we sure won't miss you.
30. May be it's time ...
berlonski ,   berlin   (10.31.11)
... to invite some German, American or Norwegian diplomat to the Israeli foreign ministry and to put them on a low chair to make them understand that it cannot be tolerated what happens in their countries.
