You know of what you speak. I also visited Japan and the immensity of recovery there after Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs is astonishing. More recently, from what I read and hear, Japan is also recovering very well after the arthquake which damaged the Yokohama nuclear power station. Another nuclear reactor to look at after a very serious damage is Chernobyl, in Ukraine. A recent PBS program here showed a long documentary on what the recovery is around Chernobyl. While people are still kept out from returning to a wide area around the damaged power plant, flora and fauna have recovered astonishingly. In many ways, the accident in 1986 at Chernobyl is a distant memory now, but not the memory of those who died. So, after nuclear disasters, there is a way for nature to recover. Naturally, for people to come back to the area of a disaster, it is necessary for people to survive.

a great deal more than "some precision strikes". Only a sustained & comprehensive bombing campaign can bring the drive for nukes to a halt. The Yanks are necessary for that effort, and would only be successful in a temporary sense at best. Regime change alone will really bring the Persian obsession with nukes to a definite end.
