It is my understanding that the US doesn't build diesel-electric submarines any more, and the nuclear ones they do build are much larger. Note that the German/ Israeli subs are diesel-electric. They could be 'nuclear' only in the sense of carrying nuclear missles. The phrase 'nuclear submarine' refers to the nuclear propulsion system. (see post #1)
