1. Barak is a military Genius, case and point
Titi Tonka ,   Breathlechem   (11.01.11)
And that is a fact. Google operation summer of youth in bierut. Hes probably one of the greatest Israeli generals and strategist. Some compare him to a young moishe dayan but better. No one is more suited for defense minister than Ehud Barak. The man is a genius plain and simple.
2. Do You Call That " OPINION " ???
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (11.01.11)
Here he is delivering news , relating news, ONLY ... He's not suggesting or criticizing anything at all ? Is that professional journalism ?

4. UN ordered rocketing Ashkelon & Sderot
observer ,   Egypt   (11.01.11)
Before the 1948 war, Majdal (Ashkelon) had been a commercial and administrative center with a population of 12,000 mainly Arab Palestinianians. It also had religious importance: nearby, amid the ruins of ancient Ashkelon, stood Mash'had Nabi Hussein, an 11th-century structure. But after July 1950, there was nothing left for them to visit: that's when the Israel Defense Forces blew up Mash'had Nabi Hussein. On 13 May 1948, Najd (Sderot) was occupied by the Negev Brigade as part of Operation Barak, before Israel was declared a state and before any Arab armies entered Palestine. The villagers were expelled and fled to Gaza. In 1951, the town of Sderot was built on the village's lands. According to UN Resolution 194 and also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 13, Section 2, the residents of Majdal and Najd have a right to return home to their personal property and to their native village.
5. #4 Observer/Najibola, I must commend you
BEN JABO ,   ISR AEL   (11.01.11)
for yet another copy & paste job, without any effort by yourself Egyptian Army was about to invade, Israel decided to get all the potential collaborators out of the way They may return to their homes, just as soon as Jews can safely return to Libya, Syria, & Egypt, not one second before You have my permission to hold your breath while waiting
6. Stop over-reacting everybody! Give the Ashqelonians time to
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.01.11)
adjust, like the Sderotians did. Then they'll learn to live with the Beast! We all shall learn to do it in time , Allah the Merciful willing!
7. Demand rocket damage compensation - or no Gaza/PA get zero
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (11.01.11)
The international community bankrolling Gaza and the PA must be told that either they compensate Israel immediately for all Gaza rocket damage, or no tax remittances will go to the PA, and no food aid will go to Gaza - until the value of rocket damage to Israel is deducted. No use of Israeli harbors or airports, no access to Israeli hospitals, no Israeli water shipments, No more Israeli electricity. Geneva Convention??? Firing rockets at Israeli civilians violates the Geneva Convention - either the Arabs observe it or Israel will ignore it. Israel must make bluntly clear to the US and EU that ALL rocket damage to Israel must be INSTANTLY (within 24 hours) repaired in full at international expense, regardless of cost, or Gaza gets nothing. No excuses. All economic damage to Israel from terrorism must be paid in full from PA tax remittances and given directly to claimants.
8. who gets 25 seconds?
cobi ,   ashkelon   (11.02.11)
It sounds great in theory, or on a homefront command brochure, but our range of time from siren - impact is much closer to 8-14 seconds, which is very difficult in the middle of the night. At a dead run, we often don't even make it to the stairwell in time.
9. imagine
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.02.11)
Imagine if their were no Oslo Accords or no ethnic cleansing of Gush Katif. Ashkelon would not be the new Sderot. Even Sderot wouldn't be the Sderot where most children suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. Instead, Ashkelon and Sderot would be cities where Jews could walk unafraid.
10. #4 conclusion
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.02.11)
Conclusion: you shouldn't start wars. If the Arabs had accepted the UN partition of Israel (which was pro Arab) nothing would have happened. Instead, the Arabs decided to exterminate the Jews. You failed, you lose. Your whining is like the Japanese or Germans demanding compensation from the Americans for all the dead in World War II.
11. 1 option left: SECURE BIG ISRAEL, nonviolent transfer.

12. THE MUNICIPALITY OF ASHKELON IS ANOTHER THAN SDEROT. INCOMPA
SJOERD RUURD VAN DER ,   MULTIVERSE   (11.02.11)
IMCOMPARIBLE.
