After the UNESCO success Abbas announced the PA was planning to try and join 16 other UN agencies, couple of days later suddenly he has changed his mind and he doesn't intend to apply for membership of anymore UN agencies for now. Conveniently it coincided with an American threat to the UN that any agency that granted palestinians membership would lose American funding. The UN can't afford the palestinians. In the Security Council abstention is a real turn around for Britain & France who just a couple of weeks ago seemed certain to vote in favor. The US will use the veto anyway if it has to but unless it can get 9 members of the Security Council endorsing its bid then it will fail. As for Abbas and his little claim he won't be able to pay security personnel, how many times have we heard that one before. Everytime the PA wants another handout they tell us all about the security people they can't afford to pay. All these threats to dissolve the PA and not having enough money to pay employees get boring after a while.

Most of the attackers are the PA police.

It's strange how the dumbest and most far left comments often come from unnamed "Israeli officials". Such as the one quoted as saying Israel should continue to fund the terrorist P.A. It is absolute madness to fund the P.A., which is one of the most dangerous enemies Israel faces. Israel should cut if off without a penny or a single volt of electricity. It's time to stop Israel from being the only nation, in human history, to voluntarily fund it's enemies.

They are afraid of reprisals from their resident muslims if they vote no and afraid they will lose money from USA if they vote in favor. They lack the intestinal fortitude to Do The Right Thing and vote NO to another arab state. Given the number of resident muslims, and their previous record of violence, it is no wonder they are afraid. Given the French lack of guts, it is no wonder they won't send the arab rabble back to their homelands.

Why the concern?

Unesco should be obligate to reverse her decision, based on the ground that PA did not meet any of the organization numbers to be except for membership.I am wondering where are all the international lawyers and what they are waiting to take the step necessary to take unesco to a higher court level that obligate unesco to cancel the PA membership... Wicked need to be deal with,or it will spread......

The French- and this goes for the Russians as well - cannot call for bilateral negotiations via the Quartet an the only road to peace and support unilateral moves by the so-called "palestinians" at the same time! If so, then Israel should make it clear that those countries cannot be in the quartet!

which will be revealed after Nov. 11th. It hinted at a unification of the PLO, Fatah and Hamas. Abbas is a bona fide liar, so it's hard to know if this is true. But if it is, what does it mean for Israel? Anybody have thoughts on this?

There will never be a coalition between the disparate warring factions of arabs all claiming to speak for the terrorstinains. They will squabble amongst themselves, blow each other up and throw rivals off tall buildings (remember, this has been done before) until an Ultimate Survivor emerges victorious. It is their mentality, it is their way.

France made its decision because it believes in a palestinian state, just like all normal nations.
