1. Your analysis is totaly wrong as such !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.07.11)
2. I have an opinion about Rabin/Peres
Golan ,   modiin   (11.07.11)
but I do not think you would like it.
3. What?
Ehoop ,   UK   (11.07.11)
The professor's world view seems to lack a few facts in its construction.
4. I'd be embarrased to publish such drivel in my paper...!
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.07.11)
Ther's propaganda and there's primitive, hateful distortion of facts, except that in this case even the facts being distorted are false......What a utter and highly (obviusly) educated imbecile of a Professor! Incredible, almost amusing.
5. duo
mohson   (11.07.11)
barak and bibi whatever are worried about iran and right they should be as they have a lock on their own people. Uri, like levy waiving pacifist slogans, you want to be like peres who stupidly said why did hamas fire rockets when israel left gaza???!! Like we didn't know this before. Mossad was against the osiraq raid so dagan is not the best placed to make a decision and his idea of saudi peace plan stinks. Israrel has to rush iron dome batteries to the front in the next 6 months and get ready.
6. Lets get rid of the fascist comparisons
David Sher ,   New York   (11.07.11)
If the leadership of Israel was really the bunch of fascists you say they are there would be no free press, you would be in jail or worse. Stop with the ridiculous hyperbole.
7. Bar Yosef's analysis is lunatic.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.07.11)
Contrary to what Bar Yosef writes; this is no "game". We are dealing with nuclear bombs in the hands of a psychotically Israel hating regime which has boasted, many times, it will use them against Israel. Israel must destroy Iran's nukes. Bar Yosef's analysis is lunatic.
8. Pres Clinton insisted on the talks
Eric ,   US   (11.07.11)
btn Abbas & Barak. A Kotel Tunnel does not make a war. From what I read, US, UK, Arab Gulf Coast nations ,FrANCE and others extremely worried about Iran. This prof's analysis is way off kilter
9. what can you expect
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.07.11)
from a leftie?
10. How much did you pay the professor/
Beauchard   (11.07.11)
If everybody says the world is round you can make a living in israel saying the world is flat.
11. So glad this writer isn't our prime minister
Shai ,   IL   (11.07.11)
The time has come to recognize that even friendly allies aren't going to throw themselves on a hand grenade for us. The time's come to defend ourselves - as the cost of not doing so is more dangerous than doing so.
12. Unfair, amateurish article
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.07.11)
This is not a professional analysis. It does not treat either Barak or Netanyahu fairly. They both have made many important decisions in their lives, not all of them of course successful. But to make a blatant one- sided condemning judgment like this shows a bias and unfairness. Total amateurism. This does not mean that there are considerable reservations from any proposed attack on Iran. We hear about them all the time and I am sure a good share of Israeli citizens know many of them. No one including the writer of this article however knows what Netanyahu Obama and Cameron are talking about and considering these days.
13. Either Iran will be stopped by the use of
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (11.07.11)
force, or Israel will have to live at the mercy of lunatic criminals...EVERYONE who sides with Iran is a TRAITOR...!!!
14. Uri Bar-Yosef, what Mussolini got to do with anything?
leo ,   usa   (11.07.11)
Do you like the name or just dreaming of hanging Barak and Bibi? Let me tell you the secret why I could never accept liberal narrative - too shallow, too primitively provocative and too cheap. Even reading this must insult the intelligence of average person not to mention subscribing to it.
15. Reckless Judgement
Professor Edgar Pick ,   Tel Aviv , Israel   (11.07.11)
This article is the perfect example of what happens when my colleagues in the academia use the cover of their academic affiliation to perform a pure act of political propaganda. My academic colleague knows well that the YNET "opinions" are not subject to the kind of "peer review" to which, I hope, the scientific ouput of Dr. Bar-Yosef is. Describing members of the present government as reckless irresponsible adventurers requires proof. Dr. Bar-Yosef knows well that, when submitting a scientific paper for publication, the reviwers first look at the soundness and obectivity of data. Both are lacking in this pure act of politcal PR. The peak of it is the claim that Mr. Barak purposefully damaged the Camp David accord with the honest, peace loving Mr. Arafat. No more is required for a negative review of the submitted thesis! Members of the academia should stick to peer-reviewed output and not act as campign "apparachiks" for Mrs Livni, Yevchimovich, or the Meretz crowd.
16. Any journalist can publish there....
Albert Levin ,   Buenos Aires ARG   (11.07.11)
....so stupid articles and I am sometimes left out by the Ynet editors? unfair!!! What I do not like is a public referendum over the attack, do it silently!!
17. What is truly reckless
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.07.11)
Is left wing professors that think they have a clue about either running negotiations or military planning. Leaders are suppose ignore the world - that is why they are leaders and not teachers without any clue of what it takes to survive in this world.
18. It's Batman and Robin
(11.07.11)
19. Uri
michaelpielet ,   israel   (11.07.11)
Uri should stick to his expertise the Yom Kipppur war. Uri is like Dayan, Elazar, Gonen, Hofi, and Zeira on October 4th 1973. DaNGEROUSLY OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY.
20. So let me get this straight...
Tahl   (11.07.11)
The failure to reach an agreement with the Syrians, was Barak's fault, because he didn't agree that the Syrians would sit on the Kinneret, and insisted on warning stations. (By the way, what would have become of such agreement today, with all the chaos in Syria? Funny how he neglects this major point). The Camp David failure, where Yasser Arafat refused Barak's generous offer of 97% of the West Bank, was also Barak's fault. Minheret HaKotel should never have been opened. Ever. After all, it is always "a sensitive timing". And finally, the international effort to stop Iran's nukes, all hinges on whether or not Israel builds settlements. Yes, I can see it - if we just contain ourselves and freeze these troublesome settlements, all of NATO would rally behind us for an attack on Iran! The author is obviously drunk.
21. Uri - mutter to yourself in the library carrel.
B.E. ,   Whangarei, NZ   (11.07.11)
22. bibi and barak
moron ,   galut   (11.07.11)
barak is bibi's weakness--talks too much
23. churchill
steve   (11.07.11)
This article is a fantasy to get to prove the writer's point. One example: Netanyahu has asked for help on more than a few occasions. Recently the storming of the Egyptian embassy. If removing Iran's nuclear capabilities were easy, it would have been done years ago. This is a waste of cyberspace!
24. Israel's reckless duo
bernard Landman ,   raanana israel   (11.07.11)
So Bibi and Barak want to be like Churchill and out of the woodwork inevitably comes our Chamberlains.
25. Not so unfair article
Göran Ingengörare ,   Finland   (11.07.11)
I think many of the talkbackers here have misunderstood what Bar-Yosef have written. IMO Bar-Yosef's main criticism of Netanyahy lies in the claim that Netanyahy has lost support of USA and Germany. IMO he is right. What about Barak, can somebody mention a single achievement to his merit?
26. Germany a good friend of Israel?? Wait and see...
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (11.07.11)
27. thank you lefty-looney professor for your lofty thoughts
Hounslow ,   England   (11.07.11)
if you're a lefty-looney professor and you have leisure time on your hand to spout your brain sparks, the ynet will let you do it! no questions asked!
28. I love these comments
golan ,   modiin   (11.07.11)
just goes to show how well respected professors are... inside their own closets where they imagine themselves in ivory towers.
29. Sad to read your comments
Jerry ,   Germany   (11.07.11)
It is sad to read peoples comments here. The readers here all seems to be ignorant uneducated haters. I could not agree more with the professor. It is a perfect analyse of the game in the world that Bibi fails to grasp. He is truly isolating israel, together with others in the government. If it werent for his persistent to demand his rights to build settlements, it is hard to believe that palestinians would have gotten the amount of votes in Unesco. Netanyaho should try to make friends with the world, not isolate Israel like he has done!
30. Göran Ingengörare #25 wrong about the US
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.07.11)
Bibi is more popular in the US than the President of the United States. I do not have anything useless to say about Barak, but the good professor is a total moron.
