31. "Swift sanctions... a serious mistake"
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (11.07.11)
I think that this translates as "The Russian government will block new sanctions against Iran until Iran has made complete payment to Russia for goods and services received." And I dare say that Russia's opposition to Syria sanctions has the same motivation. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
32. not that easy
(11.07.11)
To # 13 , if it was so easy Israel would've attacked Iran long ago.. Israel is as big as a city in Iran, plus they seem to be too committed to developing their war arsenal.. Israel needs international assistance for a strike, otherwise the consequences will be extremely fatal and may ignite world war 3!
33. Yes It Would Be Catastrophic - For Iran

Aaron ,   Brazil   (11.07.11)
Anton,it is Saudi Arabia and every Gulf State problem as well. Excluding Syria and Iraq, the first an ally and the second a potential one of Iran, everyone in the ME is concerned about Iran's bombs. And Israel is,thanks G-d,far more prepared than this oil kingdoms to defeat Iran. So is more their problems than Israel's Ala mak
35. Why is Lavrov a member of the Quartet?
Devorah   (11.07.11)
It's no secret that Iran backs Islamic Jihad and Hamas, and it's also no secret where Lavrov's/Russia's loyalties lie. The Quartet is nothing but smoke and mirrors and should be dissolved sooner rather than later. Just like Iran.
36. To #11 Anton time is rapidly running out
John ,   Alaska   (11.08.11)
If Sarah does not mind me chiming in, Russian responses to rebellion or insurrection have historically been bloody and brutal. I'm not as well versed on that conflict, but it would be reasonable to expect Russia to behave as it has historically, and therefore reasonable to find someone criticising their SOP. I do know that the Chechen rebels wish to have a separate, Islamic state under Sharia law. It is also reasonable to find Iran arming terrorists there, as Iran has done so frequently in history after 1979. This for them is also SOP. Where I'm going with this is that Russia is acting against her own best interest by supporting the regime that is arming a rebellion in Russia's belly. Quite reasonable, in fact, to point out that mistake. As for you, and the purpose of my reply to you: tick, tock, tick, tock. Your fine country's days are numbered, and Scripturally, that number is linked to that of Russia. Read Ezekiel 38 and 39. And then repent of your hatred of Jews. There is always room for you on the correct side.
37. Wow!
J ,   L.A., California   (11.08.11)
Anyone who says Israel doesn't have the guts hasn't studied history. Since '48 Israel has been nothing but a dominant force. From the 6 day war till they let Hezbollah walk away from the conflict (and don't kid yourself they did let them walk away) they have pushed back countless enemies. Very few people realize hist how far Israel is willing to go to get their temple rebuilt and Islam out of their country all together and the flipside to that is Islam's resolve to completely wipe the Hebrews both as a nation and as a people of the face of the Earth. Long term, the only way this will end is in blood shed.
38. Not true!
Noah ,   Israel   (11.08.11)
Hezbollah did step foot into israel thats what started the thing. they tried to kidnapp two soldiers instead killing them by accident.
39. USA made a mistake during WW2
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.08.11)
USA should have dropped the nuclear bomb on Russia before Russia developed nukes of its own. Just imagine what the world would have looked like if Russia would have been nuked back to the stoneage in 1945 by the USA. No Cold War and no Russian politics of frightening and terrorizing the world. The world would be better off without the Ruskies.

Russia is no longer important in any way??? What about their nuclear arsenal that can wipe us out in a second? What about their veto power?
41. post at No. 4 is not mine...

I agree with you anton. Sarah sure do has two faces, one of which is in her behind...

Mark Van Hoff ,   Belgium   (11.08.11)
I agree with your view Chris... When Israel attacked the nuclear facilities in Iraq and later in Syria, no one on earth knew it was coming until the facilities were in ruins... Today, we can see Israeli leadership frozen in fear and flexing empty bravado... If Israel was capable of attacking Iran, it would have done so without too much barking...

Mark Van Hoff ,   Belgium   (11.08.11)
Seniora is an ally of Israel and a bitter enemy of Hezbollah... Seniora did ask Israel through Condoleeza Rice not to stop its war against Lebanon until its mission to crush Hezbollah was accomplished... Seniora cried on camera because his Israeli allies let him down with their incompetence...

Mark Van Hoff ,   Belgium   (11.08.11)
You are a little naive my nameless friend.... How do you measure victory and defeat in a war? Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, both sides put a list of demands... Israel wanted Hezbollah to hand over Regev
46. #5 My nameless naive Jewish friend...
Mark Van Hoff ,   Belgium   (11.08.11)
Hezbollah does not need to set foot in Israel in order to win.. Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, both sides put forward a list of demands and when the dust settles, whichever side achieves its demands is the victor... Israel wanted Regev and Goldwasser back immediately without any conditions. Israel wanted Hezbollah disarmed and out of Lebanon.... Hezbollah wanted all its prisoners out of Israeli prisons.... Hezbollah today is stronger than ever and all Lebanese prisoners are out of Israeli jails. You got back to bodies and Ron Arad is still missing....
47. #12
Mark Van Hoff ,   Belgium   (11.08.11)
Israel got two coffins as a result of the 2006 war and Hezbollah got Kuntar plus every single Lebanese prisoner in Israeli jails. Arad is still missing... Hezbollah has not disarmed and on the contrary, Hezbollah today is stronger than ever, so I guess Hezbollah won by a technical knockout...

49. To #41 Sarah B - I had been wondering
John ,   Alaska   (11.08.11)
why you misspelled "outweighs" in post #4. Now it makes sense!
50. Russia not on the wrong
Nora Tel Aviv   (11.21.11)
Russia has three resons when selling to Iran supersophisticated arms 1. To bleed the US in this petrol area. 2. To develop war-proven arms 3. To sell huge quantities of arms to an Iran that has the money to paye.
