2. ?
NAOMI ,   TEL AVIV   (11.15.11)
I don't see what's wrong with not seeing naked women on walls!!!
3. not a very thoughtful article
david ,   new york   (11.15.11)
clearly, whoever wrote this article is either a member of the feminist organization kolech or close friends with them. but let me ask the author a question: do you think that feminism and anti-religious secularism could be the CAUSE of these reactions? do you honestly believe that taking haredim to the (fat left) israeli supreme court is going to make them whimper and hide in a corner. or perhaps, you, the radical feminists and the like are strengthening this movement? back when haredim were mostly left alone, strict separation was not an issue but now it is. think about it.
4. THIS IS THE RESULT ...
FO ,   Belgium   (11.15.11)
This is the result when there is no separation between religion and state. In this situation the rights of the individual cannot be assured either. Ben Gurion did never act in favor of such a separation, on the contrary. He run after the religious parties, to join his coalitions, and we know at what price, just to prevent the heirs of Jabotinsky ( Begin and his "Herut" party) to be part of a government. Amazing is the fact that the son of Zeev Jabotinsky, Eri, founded and lead a movement against religious coercion. Tens of years have passed, nothing has changed. NOTHING, on the contrary !

6. There is nothing more beautiful than a
Israeli 2   (11.16.11)
sexy woman on display. I prefer a real feminine entity than those artificial ones. Anyone doesn't like it, don't look at them -just please do not burn or deface them. I am religious with a zeal for pretty women display.
7. Do you want Israel to end up like the Republic of Iran?

that this article is wrong, don't realise the truth! It's true and sad..
9. Segregation.....
Rashid ,   Chicago, IL   (11.16.11)
At last you are bcoming part of the neighbourhood you live in. We Arabs have had this segregation for a while. You are now seeing the light and doing the same. Now you are truly becoming a "light unto the nations." Hopefullynext steps will include an appropriate dress code for women in your society. Again, you can take an example from us Arabs.
10. THEY SHOULD READ THEIR SCRIPTURES WELL AND NOT BLINDLY
Solomon ,   Lagos, Nigeria   (11.16.11)
The four military men that left military function when the women were singing have not read their scripture properly. if they have issue with lust they should deal with the real source of their lustful desire and not hinge that on the singing women. Didn't Elisha called for a damsel to sing for him when one of the king of israel came to seek the mind of God from Him. If they are keeping women away from adverts and using only men do they think women are superhuman who don't feel tempted too. The key to victory over lust is to renew your mind with the word of God Psalm 119:9-11.
11. To #3
k   (11.16.11)
I thought about it, and I've come to the conclusion that you're a pathetic misogynist.
12. To number 6:
k   (11.16.11)
As if what you see on Tel Aviv billboard bears any resemblance to real women. Pretty women aren't on display for you to gawk at - they are humans who deserve to be portrayed as such. Sexual objectification of women is much too prevalent in the media, and there isn't as liberal of an approach as it might seem on the surface. Neither extreme is good for a society, but at least there's no segregation and censorship in secular regions of the country. Although I do sense that we're quickly going in that direction...
13. When Hebrews fled, when Jaacob fled, no separation existed
Josh   (11.16.11)
Make-believe Torah is CHET! The "give everything to the Rabbis" so they can give it back as rewards is nothing more than mind control which is oppression of all Jews. Are we getting into a realm of Helsinki syndrome. Some people think it is to oppress the women when in fact controlling when and how men can see the opposite sex is all about oppressing the men. So Dati men, just know you are assisting in oppressing yourselves from free thought because you will be rewarded not to think but to follow with the women when they are given back to you. ..and you are surrendering the freedom to find a wife on your own in the way G-d intended. We hear of Moses serving water and protecting maidens. Surely G-d would have had his prophet write in the first person such restriction if it really existed. Its not there. No adding to Torah.

Thanks for humoring me. I got a pretty good laugh at your comments. Have you ever considered being a comedian?
15. Paranoid article about Haredim
American Sabrah ,   Israel   (11.16.11)
Since when did Meah Shearim represent Israel? Its just one small quaint town inhabited by a segment of zealots who tend to live a more extreme lifestyle. Most Haredim, like us, prefer to be left alone and live their lives as they see fit for themselves. They are not interested in taking over Israel and turning the country into a theocracy as this article would have you believe. So what if they tend to take a precaution when it comes to interacting with the opposite sex? As a religious woman, I don't agree with their sex segregated regulations and I'm thankful for not living in an environment that promotes such agenda.I don't want haredi standards being imposed on me anymore than I want tolerance and multiculturalism being shoved down my throat either. The haredim are not worth media attention nor coverage. There are more ominous threats we should be concerned about rather than worrying about haredi demographics. No one complains about the the Muslim population trying to overrun the West. Grow up and get a clue! Stop wasting internet space over this drivel!
16. Gotta luv it
Max Schadenfreude ,   Kerguelen Island   (11.18.11)
The thing I think is so wonderful about Israel is it has more contradictions per square kilometer than anywhere else; and still manages to function.
17. is the next step to have men and women in separate cities
tzfatisha ,   tsfat   (11.19.11)
if we take things to the logical conclusion i'm sure these rabbis would be happier if men and women lived in separate cities, then there would be no chance of any 'inapropriate meetings'. of course that would put paid to family life, but worth the price surely, to prevent the danger of 'immodest behaviour'.
18. So tomorrow they will ban separate seating in Synagogues?
mzk ,   Haifa   (12.04.11)
did you read what the article actually said? They banned a separation between man and women at a religious ceremony on the street. Exactly how is this different than the Kotel? Meanwhile the ad has embedded in it a picture of a woman dressed in a manner obscene even by American standards.
19. Advertisements
Dalia ,   Jer, Israel   (12.06.11)
Usually women are used in advertisements as sex objects regardless of the product. This is degrading to all women including any self-respecting feminist. Also it's just common decency to respect the sensibilities of a given culture or religion . Therefore immodesty should not be imposed where it is unwelcome. Futhermore a religious soilder should not be forced to hear women singing if it goes against his adherence to halacha which has to do with him and not a personal affront to women and others who don't understand or accept the halacha. Also in thus doing so I would propose, does not present a danger to national security. Really I'm sure the army has matters of greater consequense to focus on.
20. Result of Heredim not being left alone?
Masha ,   Chicago, IL, USA   (12.06.11)
Look, I am Orthodox. So, you would expect me to defend the Heredi approach. However, I can;t agree with you. Sometimes I think these people are just bored. Instead of learning Torah and working towards tikun olam they separate genders to the degree it never existed. I guess they cannot imagine that there is more to religion than segregation of genders.
