31. Whoever on polls said Yes must
Tom ,   US   (12.01.11)
Trust Iran from their hearts. If the poll was real, I would be very surprised why Iseralis have such naive thoughts. It is really concerned as to whether Isreal education system has gone wrong, wrong, wrong for a long time.
32. #27 is NOT me !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (12.01.11)
33. #9 I am no where close to the right just so you know
Mike ,   Raanana Israel   (12.01.11)
If you ever studied statistics you would know that results can be easily manupulated depending on the following. type of question being asked who is asking it under what conditions is the question being asked. Who is asked to answer. You are correct it is a science, a science that can be easly manupulated and interperated, there is no black and white in polling. Therefore Ari respect yourselff and ask these questions before making silly claims about me and my family.
34. What????
Chaim ,   Arad   (12.01.11)
Are you nuts? Guess you forgot Syria, Turkey, and now Egypt who would like to see us toasted. Never.
35. Atomic Poll re. THE BIG ONE!
Moragh   (12.01.11)
Not for one second, NO, not for one SPLIT second would I believe that Poll. If Israel has only 1% of a gramn of sense, they would hang on to their nukes to the very last split second. And I say so now more than ever before. Just reading the newspapers and seeing that it will not be long until Israel stands completely alone in this world, she's going to need every drop of blood she posesses. Quite frankly I don't think that Israel's population grasps the severity of their present position. I just had a good laugh when I read that Iceland has dropped her friendship with Israel. ICELAND of all places. I have been there passing thru on my way to the States on numerous occasions... and let me tell you plain and straight that all Iceland has on offer is ICE, so the loss of their friendship shouldn't mean one tootie of concern for Israel. With all their active Volcanoes, who needs Iceland lol!
36. The wish is father of the thought!
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (12.01.11)
So, we have wishes and hopes.... AND We have a bitter reality! Don't forget, that we are living on this planet and that there are plain facts! AND Who would make sure that Iran would really give up its nuclear ambitions? Who would make sure, that the hate, the Muslim world demonstrates to us will vanish? AND Don't forget: 150.000 missiles are a weapon of mass destruction by itself! If we sum up the missiles stationed in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and Iran we face a major threat without going nuclear. The initial strategic perspective behind Israeli nukes (if they exist at all) is, that Israel cannot withstand a joint strike of the Arab armies like it happened in October 1973, if this would turn out a little less positive and finally into a war of attrition. AND Never forget: Israel must win all wars. The Arabs need to win only one single war!
37. #1et,al have it correct
nva ,   jerusalem   (12.01.11)
this "poll" is totally off the wall...bogus....and does NOT represent Israelis AT ALL. i work with Israelis of kinds, in all walks of life all over the country...and i can GUARANTEE YOU that this "info" is total BS.
38. Pakistan has more that 200 Atom bombs
Gus   (12.01.11)
What about Pakistan!!! How idiots and unprofessional can be the news papers in Israel !!!! The are totally misleading.
39. Just an addition to my post @35
Moragh   (12.01.11)
p..s.- not to mention with all their active volcanoes, Iceland doesn't need the BIG BOMB, her country is at the ready (without notice) to blow up permanently at any time, and their Scientists won't even be at fault!
40. Complete Bull
Danny ,   Tel Avivq   (12.01.11)
This so-called "poll" flies in the face of realty. Our alleged nukes are not there for Iran alone. They were developed long before Iran became a threat (and was in fact still an ally). This poll is complete BS.
41. Nukes in the hands of radicals ANYwhere is the problem!
David ,   sanda, Japan   (12.01.11)
Yes, indeed. Look no further than neighboring Pakistan! Unless there is comprehensive and verifiable nuclear disarmament by everyone in the middle east, there is no point in Israel giving up its current deterrent! What would help the peace process is if Israel would come clean about just how many nukes they actually have and sign the non-proliferation treaty.
42. LOL what a Joke of a survey LIARS!!
Eli ,   Israel   (12.01.11)
I am Israeli, my entire family, uncles, Aunts, cousins is against this survey, everybody I know in Jerusalem is against this survey and thats allot of people. This survey is a JOKE a complete LIE, I am willing to bet my life on it. I go out allot in Israel the general mood and opinion in Israel is just the opposite of this survey. Conclusion: This survey was conducted in a University in Tel Aviv at the Peace Now camp and in other known LEFTIST neighborhoods. Do not, I repeat do NOT believe this BS survey.
43. And you are kidding.. ...exactly whom??!!!
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.01.11)
44. Can you ever, ever, ever, trust our neighbor
Samuel ,   Israel   (12.01.11)
No sir, thank you. Israel had trusted the Arabs in the Sinai campaign, the Six Day War, to the Palesteinian gave back Gaza & what did we gain in return???.A stab in the back.Where was the world opinion on this matter???.No sir, never.
45. @ 32 It is not me!
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (12.01.11)
Can't you have your own nick? Leave me alone.
46. The 65% breakdown
Greg ,   Washington, DC   (12.01.11)
This is how the number 65% was arrived at. The poll was taken between Haim Saban, the author of the article, and the author's dog. The first two voted to give up the weapons, the dog (smartest of the 3) barked "No".
47. 65% of morons is too high even for secure society.
leo ,   usa   (12.01.11)
For Israel it is on par with existential threat. What is wrong with you, people.
48. Iran will NEVER give up nukes.
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.01.11)
Stop nonsense and attack before it's too late.
49. Reassuring poll.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.01.11)
Israel has no future with nuclear weapons and the use of these in the region will be a suicide to Israel. The whole region could become a dead desert for the next 1000 years. Results of this poll reassure that the majority of Israelis look with hope into the future and are unlike the many scared megalomaniacs who post here.
50. NO ONE ASKED ANYONE I KNOW!
(12.01.11)
51. #49
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.01.11)
Any intelligent nations creates nuclear weapons for just the reasons you stated. Just the mere thought of their use helps deter both large-scale conventional and nuclear war much of the time. Israel's nukes are a deterrent, and a necessary one at that, nothing more.
52. Gabi Ashkenazi is a Visiting Fellow at the Saban Center.
Devorah   (12.01.11)
I would like to know what he has to say about this bogus poll.
53. What about Pakistan? Was post-9/11 strategic sequence right?
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (12.01.11)
54. Haim Saban of the Saban center
Devorah   (12.01.11)
is the same Haim Saban who is organizing the IDF event at which Barbra Streisand will sing. Gabi Ashkenazi will be in attendance also. Something does not seem right.
55. #51 Henry, The intelligent approach
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.01.11)
I agree with you that nukes can be a deterrent. Israeli enemies sit on huge territories and have plenty of people to sacrifice in wars. Naturally, Israeli nukes can balance out this disadvantage, but only temporarily when Iran is pushing a new reality into the region. However, forging alliances with Great Powers can accomplish a permanent deterrent and without a threat of regional annihilation. Israel can be a desirable partner to the Great Powers, has been such in the past. Avoiding isolation from the Great Powers is the intelligent approach in my opinion, much more intelligent than relying on nukes. I am glad to see two out of three Israelis agree nukes are too dangerous for Israel to rely on..
56. 9
zionist forever   (12.01.11)
Ari Polling also depends on who is doing the polling. Haaretz have a poll saying 50% of the Israeli public see the bills on foreign funding and liable as undemocratic. Haaretz is a left wing newspaper and they have been going out their way to try and sell these bills as a first step to dictatorship of some kind so the last thing they want is for a poll saying the majority of the public support it so they make sure they ask the right questions and word it right to get the answer they want. Although I doubt this poll on nuclear weapons was taken by Haaretz who took it is an issue to consider, There are alot of important factors that must be taken into consideration when judging the outcome of a poll and this one just doesn't look right, the percentages just seem to high,
57. Nobody asked me
William ,   Israel   (12.01.11)
Iran didn't have nukes prior to 10 years ago, yet the existential threat to Israel has existed for 63 years. Just because Israel would make an agreement to give up nukes (if they have them) would not pacify the many racists who seek her destruction and genocide of her people. Infact, it will embolden them as the Arabs have been demanding this for years because it remains a real obstacle to their violent goals.
58. #9 - a science that is often bastardized
William ,   Israel   (12.01.11)
It is well-known that polling is often skewed and how you slice the data often dictates the outcome, which is why polls are taken with a grain of salt. You hide behind your Leftist tendencies to believe in an all-high ideology of how the world SHOULD work and not how it does work. Which is why the Left has dwindling numbers of support these days.
59. READ THE QUESTIONS, #7, 9, 28, 33, 49 et al BOGUS
solomon ,   bklyn   (12.01.11)
The poll is bogus as the only two choices steered the answers to two extremes. It considered Israel and Iran as if in a vacuum. It did NOT take reality into account as it ignored all the other countries and terrorists that want to annihilate Israel. BOGUS.
60. #59 Sol, Bogus or not
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.01.11)
Poll this or poll that, bogus schmogus. Focus on the issue of nukes and the potential for a war. Not only two out of three Israelis don't want a nuclear war in the region, 99 out of 100 do not want it. No polls are needed for you to know.
