62. poor writer.
miro ,   Israel,Italy   (12.05.11)
It is understandable what this young Israeli writes. When we were his age, many of us had his opinions about life in Israel. For those who think the writer is right,I have news for them. The cost of living today in North America is outrageous,as well as in many European countries. High above the prices in Israel. Rent is much higher than in Israel, food twice as much.Public transportation costs are also high. It is true that some public employees in Israel have salaries and benefits uncomparable with other countries, but the problem can be solved by new laws derrived from democratic elections. After having experienced many countries,Israel is not such a bad place to live, believe me!
63. To friend, Canada
Let's go Canada ,   Israel   (12.05.11)
I would really be interested in getting more information about Thornhill, Thornhill woods. I heard there's a great Jewish community there. I am just waiting my PR visa and I will be leaving Israel. It won't be easy because I came here to stay. My three daughters are tsabariot... But I can't stay anymore. It would be wonderful to have something in Facebook to help each other. What do you think?
64. To: No. 47
Sarah B ,   U.S.A./ Israel   (12.05.11)

Dont let the door hit you in the butt on the way out...whinger.
66. you are dangerous
AVI   (12.05.11)
There are problems in Israel ..no doubt..they have to taken a lot more seriously..every country goes through serious issues..in 65 years years ..what israel has gone through it is a wonder and a miracle we are still here..we need to cherish what we have and deal with the challenges...any IDIOT can see the negative a smart person knows how to deal with life while finding t and holding on to the positive as well..I think you have gone through something and are generally a negative person..in your life in general and in private ..I hope you do not leave and instead of being dangerous and bringing people done..highlight the good as well..if you cannot find any good then you have a deep-seated issue which needs to be dealt with
67. Leaving
dov epstein ,   Jerusalem, israel   (12.05.11)
Don't let the door hit your back as you leave.......I've got 12 kids, and loads of debt. you're pathetic.
68. Liad
Debbie ,   Israel   (12.05.11)
JOHN, You need to find a cheaper supermarket. Because food prices are absolutely outrageous in Israel, from supermarkets, to fast food to restaurants. $12 for a box of ice cream sandwiches.... I mean, really??? Americans would boycott these products if prices were similar, and in Israel people are loading them into their carts as though they were free. I spend quite a bit of time in the US and Europe and no where are supermarket prices as high as they are in Israel. That said, I agree with you; I wouldnt live in LA for the world. The crime, smog, people, mentality, lifestyle, everything about it, turns me off.
69. Many people are fed up with life in most countries, and for
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.05.11)
various reasons; some objective reasons but mostly subjective ones. It is OK not to appreciate life in one place and appreciate it in a different one. However, more often than not, those not liking life in one place tend to not to like life in another place. And, perhaps is the reason, which they are fearful of accepting, is their personal predicaments...??
70. pagan idolatry
yosef ,   memphis   (12.05.11)
Maybe take pagan thing hanging on the wall behind him down and things would get better. Welcome to life brother! depart or settle.
71. Israel is surely exceptional country, but based on what
leo ,   usa   (12.05.11)
this guys, Liad, describing life in Israel is no different than in the country where I live. Well, not much different anyway. Oh, and Liad, if you are moving into US, we have high taxes too and we are fighting to lower it. Will you fight with us or will you wait for the results or will you move elsewhere?

73. To: No. 47
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / israel   (12.05.11)
I live in Manhattan only for those months that I do not reside in Saviyyon. That's Israel. Do you have any more ridiculous comments which you wish to proffer? Bring it on, asshole. I'll wipe the floor with you, yet again. One would think that you'd be getting tired of being smacked down by me, but -- hey -- we all know that you are a consummate fool. You do not have to keep on proving it. Oh -- and by the way -- take a class on comma placement, okay? Have a really nice day, oh ridiculous one.
74. To: No. 52
Sarah B ,   U.S.A / Israel   (12.05.11)
"Dennis" isn't exactly a Jewish name, you know? Are you a fraud and a phony? My guess would be that you haven't set foot within one thousand miles of Israel. You're fooling no one.
75. To: Rebecca at No. 51
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.05.11)
It could also mean that he has also exhausted his available supply of testosterone. Well, there's always Viagra. But something tells me this "Jew" had no beitzim to begin with. So Viagra would probably just be a useless expense. I wonder if he can sing counter-tenor.
76. boo-hoo
weeeee ,   ashdod, israel   (12.05.11)
LEAVE-WITH OR WITHOUT YOUR BUDS
77. Reads like satire
Dan ,   USA   (12.05.11)
This piece is so full of exaggerated self-centeredness and magical thinking ("I want to move to a place where it will be easier for me to live...") that one could mistake it for a work of satire. It is on par with the stories of the flight attendants on the New York to Miami route being the most exhausted in the business because they have to put up with the constant complaining of the the Jewish passengers: the cabin is too hot, the cabin is too cold, my seat is uncomfortable, it's too noisy in here, where is my meal, when does the entertainment start, etc. Then again, perhaps this article is not satirical, and perhaps those stories about the New York to Miami flight are true. And perhaps Liad Magen will be first in line to buy a ticket.
78. Welcome to our world...now, grow-up!
Z.Z. Coltrane ,   USA   (12.05.11)
This guy is a crying, sniveling little girl. Poor me...mommy to my Barbie-doll. Oh, gee...I can't get my way, so I'll just throw a temper-tantrum--no really...I will! O.K...I'm really mad: I'm gonna hold my breath, now! Yeah, that'll get my candy bar. Momma, you never let me have my way! Go to your room...no dinner for you tonight! Hey, little boy...or girl...I can't tell which), grow-the-freakin'-up!!! You punk.
79. Apparently....
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (12.05.11)
He has no wife or girlfriend, no children, no friends - maybe it's time to go back and live with mommy and daddy.
80. #52 A lot of things have changed
Menachem ,   Israel   (12.05.11)
Israel is far more affluent today than only 10 years ago and is moving forward while the EU and US economies are in decline. While social gaps in Israel need to be reduced, they are smaller than in the US so start by cleaning up your own house before giving advices to others. The US is the biggest schnorrer in the world living beyond its means funded by the Chinese and others.
81. Nuts!?
Samuel ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (12.05.11)
Hey Liad, come and change the places. You must experience living in Turkish diaspora. I think that`s the only way for you to understand the treasure of Israel.
82. I'll help you pack dear, we don't need pussy's like you here
vee   (12.05.11)
83. You all couldn't be more wrong!
yoni ,   tel aviv   (12.05.11)
Take away Liad's relative extreme desire to leave the country (which is totally understandable), everything he wrote is 100% correct (except for the Bar Association, which may act in complete disregard but needs to regulate the disproportionate amount of lawyers we have in this country). Our society is made up of people who have no work ethic and don't respect their neighbors. They act how they want, drive how they want, charge how much they want and steal as much as they want. There is no customer service, employers don't pay their workers on time, every conglomerate resorts to outright stealing from its customers (012, 014, bezeq, hot, yes, electric company etc.), people park on the sidewalks blocking mothers and children, motorcyclists drive like maniacs and complain that their insurance rates go up, then they drive on sidewalks like they're lanes on a highway, banks charge you to DEPOSIT money, smokers throw their cigarettes on the ground (and other garbage). No one is attacking the IDF here or Judaism or anything else like that. The society is a mess. Cute story: Soldiers will spend the day throwing their cigarettes on the ground, coke cans, food wrappers etc. They'll destroy their bathrooms, throw toilet paper on the floor and clog every drain possible...KNOWING THAT AN HOUR LATER THEY NEED TO CLEAN IT UP!
84. Go to where cottage cheese is cheaper
Cynic #2   (12.05.11)
and human dignity is respected.
85. More to life than easy
elle ,   Israel   (12.05.11)
My parents made aliyah in the 70's and then moved to Canada a decade later, for very similar reasons to Liad's. As a result, I grew up in the diaspora and moved back to Israel, alone, 6 years ago. Canada is one of those wonderful, easy-to-live-in countries. But there is more to life than easily obtaining material goods. There's no doubt, everything you said is true, financially it's hard to live here, even as a high-paid professional. But if you exchange this life and culture for an easy one, you'll find yourself owning a beautiful house and sitting in it alone. All immigrants assimilate to their new cultures; you will be booking your coffees with friends weeks in advance in no time. Part of living abroad is adapting to its culture....and that's where Israeli is irreplaceable. It's home.
86. Check out the North!
Galilee Gal ,   Misgav, Israel   (12.05.11)
Liad and others of his ilk, have you ever checked out life in the North? For example, Misgav, which is comprised of 27 mountaintop communities, has a very high percentage of English speakers. Many work in high-tech companies in Haifa, Nahariya, Tefen and some even take the train daily to Tel Aviv. The schools are excellent by international standards, and one lives the supportive type of community life many olim dream of. It is an excellent place to raise children and there is plenty to do if you are willing to be flexible. After 20 years living here, I tried relocating to the US for personal reasons and found there is no substitute anywhere. Tel Aviv doesn't represent life in Israel. You want to leave, have a wonderful life, but check out the rest of the country before you check out of Israel!
87. LEAVE!!
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.05.11)
and take the rest of the left wing loonies with you
88. The boy is right - it's not easy living here
Talula ,   Israel   (12.05.11)
We are paying way too much for just about everything! We are all having a hard time - but we don't run and look for greener grass at the first sign of trouble/discomfort. Because firstly, the grass is absolutely NOT greener on the other side - read foreign newspapers - and secondly we still need to support our country through thick or thin. So go little boy, go look for pastures greener - but I bet you'll be back in under a year.
89. #25 You're pathetic!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (12.05.11)
There's so much more to living here than owning a big house, flash car and having money in the bank. You are a really sad pathetic narrow-minded Loser, that's what you are!
90. live where you want to live
sas ,   israel   (12.05.11)
no one is forcing you to stay here. you are talking like an infant.
