32. Time WAS a news magazine, now irrevalant in the din.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.13.11)
33. Time is Fish Wrap
SMF ,   USA   (12.13.11)
Exhibit A why Time is a failed enterprise going broke. To suggest that an islamofascist overthrowing the secular State of Ataturk is a significant leader is amateurish. This clown has guaranteed that Turkey will not enter the EU, as it begged to do...and fulfilled the fears of Europe that Turkey was Sharia lite.
34. 6
(12.13.11)
not most liked. in fact, out of israel, he is most needed, not most liked. he is needed because his totalitarian islamic tendency regime of late, his alliance with iran and hamas doesn't bode well for usa allies in that region. europe dislikes him immensly. hence, no invitation to join the eu. the world outside of israel needs him because his is the only country that the usa can talk with right now and that is not involved in the arab spring.
35. LET"S GET IT RIGHT.
JHL1 ,   USA   (12.13.11)
Should have been "MOST CLUELESS MAN OF THE YEAR"
36. Thats pretty impressive
Ari   (12.13.11)
It's pretty impressive to be as inconsequential as Erdogan and be voted Time magazine's man of the year. Oh well, no wonder people with even a shred of intellect do not read that rag of a magazine anymore...
37. another politcal leader who could have
Barney ,   USA   (12.13.11)
move his country from the 7th century but chose not to because he isn't wired to think that way. He believes his way is progress and that is the problem with the whole arab "spring" which ended up being a springboard to the past. these people think this way. hard to fathom and you can't think but that you can help them see the light but they are blind as blind can be.
38. TIME: A worthless publication!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (12.13.11)
Anti-American; Anti-Israel; Anti-Christian; Pro-Muslim! A traitorous bunch of hacks! The publication should be shutdown and exposed for what it truly is: an insidious piece of trash, disguising itself as journalism.
39. Messi deserves to be man of the year...
Diego ,   Buenos Aires, ARG   (12.13.11)
he has done more to bring mankind together than this anti-Semite Turkish piece of crap has ever done.
40. Looks like the west is blind on the islamistic eye *scary*
Neo ,   EU 26-1   (12.13.11)
41. I press DISLIKE
Alan ,   SA   (12.13.11)
42. Lionel Messi coming in second says it all about the ragsheet
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (12.13.11)
but I much prefer him over the Mad Dog.
43. Objectively, it's understandable.
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (12.13.11)
Erdogan has done the utmost of his country's very strategic position. Everybody, from Obama and Netanyahu to Medvedev, Sarkozy, Merkel and Ahmadinejad, need Turkey on their side and Erdogan knows it. He strategically plays them out against each other. Not to mention Turkey's annual growth of approx. 10% ever since 2002. I don't particularly like Erdogan, but the guy is good at his job. He's darn good!
44. #5
Knut ,   Nor   (12.13.11)
A pathetic racist remark, erdogan is a leader on the world stage. Except for a few exceptions Isreali leaders are persona non grata pretty much everywhere except the US where they are tolerated and maybe Moldova
45. TIME OUT! Erdogan pro-Western?! Islamist Turkey OUT OF NATO.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (12.13.11)
46. Python
(12.13.11)
Did monty python have a minister for psychosis?
47. Shame on you "TIME''
sharky   (12.13.11)
48. #2, you are right on course
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (12.13.11)
Erdogan is popular in poverty-stricken loser countries with poorly educated populations.
49. Time also had hitler as man of the year.
jason white ,   afula, israel   (12.13.11)
History repeats itself.
50. Erdogan striving to surpass his master, Goebbels
Georges   (12.13.11)
The Times?, nothing new. only a paragon of 21st century media displaying the new Thug of the Middle East on it's front page. The bigger the lie, the greater the media approval,IE: Gaddafi, Assad, Arafat, the scum of islam's leadership -- the non existant humanitarian aid to the " starving" population of Gaza; Fat chidren, very Fat mamas and "warriors"; stores full to the brim with luxurious goodies and hotels to match for the " deprived " arabs. Erdogan and his " clique " are browsing the infamous Nazi archives to be used and applied to the criminals, the thugs, dispatched by the Jewish Navy --- May Satan watch over them and those who sent them. Now you know my vote.
51. Western Publications.
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (12.13.11)
Time and the rest of the comic publications in the Western world is for entertainment. Erdogan well deserves this award for his irrationality and anti-Israel dramatics. Anybody who hates Israel will get this attention and any Israeli who puts Jews at risk is qualified to receive this recognition. All this tells you is being anti-Jewish is mainstream.
52. And in other news
Sonya ,   NYC   (12.13.11)
Lieberman was hospitalized when his face exploded upon reading the above selection. People close to the situation say he was led to believe by his many admirers around the world that he was in the lead.
53. #7, "the whole world" who? you and your neighbors?
mary of bethany ,   singapore   (12.13.11)
"tell me who dislike Mr Erdogan?... just few israelis between the whole world?! ". kindly tell you WHO DO YOU MEAN AS IN YOUR "THE WHOLE WORLD"? just let me ask you, who knows Erdogan? just few arab-lovers between the whole world?! from what i know, i can easily grab 10 guys in the street here, and none of them will know Erdogan, oops, some may even mistaken that i mean "Aragorn" in "the Lord of the Ring". which planet are you from?
54. and Obama won the nobel prize for peace!!!!!!
jonathan ,   London   (12.13.11)
55. Erdogan
Sarah ,   jeru/ist   (12.13.11)
is not liked by the secular Turkish population. He is hated to say the least, but there is little they can do as he has changed the powers of the military, etc. Gone are the days when the military could stage a coup and oust someone like him. He would have been long gone 15 years ago, but now, that is no longer possible. He imprisons military generals and others on a regular basis when he suspects them of some secretive activities, no one has freedom to speak up. This is not something that someone from Israel or the US can really understand. This is why many of my friends (non-Jewish) are entering the green card lottery. They've had enough!
56. He looks like a huge Human Thorn to me!
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (12.13.11)
Possibly a infamous Bull Weavel Tick. He's always buried somewhere causing inflammation and grief.
57. To: Paul at No. 51
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.11)
Tell me something I don't know.
58. Why does anyone care?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.11)
Time's "Man of the Year" has included Josef Stalin (twice), Adolf Hitler (once) (may his name be cursed throughout eternity), Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama. Erdogan can now join that "illustrious" list.
59. To: No. 43
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.11)
Annual growth of approximately 10% since 2002?" Oh, I see -- you're talking about population, not economy.
60. Time also made Hitler Man of the Year!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.13.11)
Why the surprise? Time Warner, owners of Time and CNN, MUST take a pro-Islam stance to satisfy their Arab investors.
