1. Right conclusion, but that would require for Israel to grow
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.21.11)
both brains & cojones...and we know that men can't do two things at once..
2. The problem is more widespread
BH ,   Iowa   (12.21.11)
Every time a report uses the Jordanian term "West Bank" instead of Judea and Samaria, every time Jerusalem is mentioned as having an East and West division, when they say Palestinian to mean Arab, when Jewish communities are called "settlements" and Jewish residents called "settlers" it is a political statement of bias against Jews and Israel. It is all a denial of Jewish nationhood and an attack on Jewish soverignty in Jewish Homeland.
3. Does this mean we don't have to deal with
Devorah   (12.21.11)
Tom Friedman (NYT) anymore?
4. Israel is bad with PR and the PA and Hamas are good. Simple.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.21.11)
5. Yesterday's tools are disappearing!!!
Afflalo ,   South America   (12.21.11)
By the way Reuter is now Thompson-Reuter agency, when the heavy hands are in the offices of the Canadian humangous financial company....there is a remedy about that. But, what the good Docteur forgot that he is one of the Last Mohican, or a Don Quixote fighting the inexorable tools of the Visigoths. With Bloggerland, the effective influence of such venerable Newspapers from the 20th century are going with the way of the Dodos. Now, with a sophistecated and largely English educated Israel population, the roads for redemption do lead from Tel Aviv. Work has started somehow in Europe with the so-called 'AlJezirya for the World' according to the Jewish narrative. Good luck
6. Media bias against Israel
DavudM ,   USA   (12.21.11)
Foreign columnists who come to Israel for the purpose of slandering Israel should be denied press credentials and access to officials. Thomas Friedman of the New York Times is the latest foreign columnist to malign Israel.. His colleague Roger Cohen rarely misses an opportunity to accuse Israel and its Jewish and Christian supporters of war mongering. No country is obligated to assist its enemies.
7. Why we lose
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (12.21.11)
Israel loses the propaganda war because people like Zippy Livni, Neve Gordon, Yariv Oppenheimer and hundreds of others. These people spread more anti-Israeli falsehoods than anyone else.
8. Neutrality
Anna ,   Tel Aviv   (12.21.11)
You can report on two populations living in the same area under two different laws as neutrally as you want - readers will be inclined to side with the population which has less rights under these seperate laws. There will never be anybody who can report truthfully about what is happening in the territories - even if they include every single act of violence by the Palestinian side - and not let the readers feel some scorn towards Israel.
9. Israel's own hasbara had always been a disaster
Israel's own fault ,   Tel Aviv   (12.21.11)
Yes, clamp down on provocateurs but also do a vigorous counter strategy to refute the anti_Israeli propoganda and GET THE TRUTH OUT
10. Not a solution
Tom M. ,   Mendota Heights USA   (12.21.11)
Denying press credentials is no solution at all. Journalists will still write and document whatever they want but then with even less information. Sick and tired of this continual Israeli isolationist PR death wish.
11. Our PR problems
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.21.11)
Start at the universities that are controlled by extreme leftists. Then we have foreign governments buying Israelis to usurp the elected government and then and only then does the matter of the leftist media especially the racist foreign media come in to it. On the Arab side - their Thugocracy controls the schools, the would never allow any foreign government to usurp their authority and any journalist foreign or domestic will be killed if they write anything that the government doesn't like.
12. a few ideas i have:
david ,   new york   (12.21.11)
1. charge unfriendly news agencies that work in israel license fees (perhaps a few hundred thousand per reporter per year and have money go to victims of terror) 2. along with evangelicals and religious american jews (i.e. loyal to israel), spend huge sums of money to buy up american and european media (cant do it as a foreign country, but can do it along with evangelical and jewish friends) there is no use trying to convince the media to "be fair", since the reason they are in the business to start with is because they haved an agenda want to manipulate the public
13. So much for freedom of the press
Avramele   (12.21.11)
The suggestions of the author are more appropriate for a state modeled on Russia or north Korea. Israel's policies condemn it not foreign press coverage.
14. There are laws
Raphael ,   Netanya   (12.21.11)
Against anti national crimes. Start applying them. E.g: the 2nd intifada was boosted by Charles Enderlin's biased report about the pallywoodian staged "killing" of Mohamed al Dura. Being a french national, Enderlin deserves at least being stripped from his israeli citizenship, and being barred from his press status for slanderous propaganda.
15. Propaganda war
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (12.21.11)
I think Israel should concentrate the four following problems in its propaganda. 1. The present geographical situation in the ME is the direct result of bloody wars of the arabs who refused recognize the State of Jews. 2. The problem of occupation must be debated universally, including Kurdistan, Beludshistan, Tibet, Uyguria, Euskadi ( Basq ) Scotland and at least 100 other occupied lands. 3. Also the problem of discrimination should be disputed so, with regard of the at least 50 million immigrants in Europe, who suffer a very serious " apartheid. "4. Finally the fact must be understood, that no more land exist for jews, all over the world, where they live in safety. This was explained clearly by mr. Netanyahu in UN speech, I thank it, from here, from the galut. If the world understands and accepts these four points no ME problem exists any longer.
16. ONEness&SELFrespect (BIG ISRAEL)=only way FORWARD.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (12.21.11)
17. it's not about bad PR or good PR ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.21.11)
it's about Who Owns the Truth? the voice of truth always rings loud and clear so that why people around the world believe the Palestinians and don't believe the "Israelis" : )
18. Talkbackers against bias in the media....
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (12.21.11)
...you couldn't make it up (but if you could, they'd try.)
19. #6.Davud: They run the show
Tom ,   USA   (12.21.11)
The American Jewry's hostility is well manifested itself with the Bibi affair: he -Bibi- refused to pen an article in the N.Y. Times for their vicious, acrimonious attitude toward Israel. Israeli Jews are politically heterogeneous people, professing diverse world-views and ethnic roots they had imported from galut. American Jewry, conversely an interwoven strongly leftist block, controlled by radical Marxist elite like N.Y. Times, Wash.Post, Hollywood etc. backed up by billions of $$$$. 78% voted for the Kenyan Obamao. Unfortunately they wield formidable power in the U.S. and they project their power onto Israel's elite as well. Their activity is leading to sinister, unforeseen consequences: the growing sense of antisemitism in the U.S. -- Ron Paul popularity -- and the growing anti-Israeli sentiment, because for the goyim Americans T. Friedman, ACLU, Roger Cohen = Israel. They don't see the difference.
20. media bias
Yoel ,   Ossining, NY   (12.21.11)
A question: With all the great public relations and advertising firms here in NY, why does Israeli hasbara not use them?
21. Instead of bashing Haredi..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.21.11)
TBers could be more useful by revealing the antisemitic lies in foreign media.
22. Reply to Ora
Yehoshua   (12.21.11)
Ora, you are right. But before that let's just look around on this thread and spot the antisemites and/or extremist, radical Jews backing the outside enemy from the inside... What's the proper response to these inciters???
23. Ynet is also at fault here
Steven ,   Israel   (12.21.11)
I've found numerous articles published on Ynet's english edition that are factually impaired, and some that are straightout fiction. Change starts at home. Perhaps if we revoked the press card of reporters who have shown they aren't real journalists, then maybe it would improve. But right now, there's an incentive to lie, cheat, and publish bullshit.
24. Salma in "Palestine" #17
Avi ,   Ramat Gan   (12.21.11)
No, Salma, most people in the world are only getting one side of the news. They get pictures of Mohammad Al-Dura being killed by "Israeli snipers" and and they get pictures of bombed out Mosques without any explanation that Mohammad Al-Dura was in fact killed by Palestinian gunfire (proved by both a government investigation and several independant investigations from abroad) and that those bombed Mosques were being used to store rockets that are daily being launched into Israeli civilian areas. You and your people are full of garbage, Salma, but the media doesn't report that. That is why we call it bias.
25. .....
(12.21.11)
no right would be lost if there are people asking it -- here the fault may be in -right or in people to aske
26. If Israel had the corage to TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH
Hasbara Minus One ,   Israel   (12.21.11)
(like Newt Gingrich and some other XTians).... ISRAEL WOULD HAVE WON THIS WAR A LONG TIME AGO
27. Calling Abbas "Palestinian President" is false information.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.21.11)
Ironically, in an article about Israel being victimizeda by false information; this article calls Abbas the "Palestinian President". That is about as false as information can be. There is no Palestine state; never has been one and never will be one. It is obviously impossible for a fictional state to have a president. Abbas is merely the head of the terrorist P.A.
28. SImple solution: Ban lying phony journalists.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.21.11)
There is a very simple solution to the problem of lying phony journalists. Take away their press cards. Ban them. Don't grant them interviews. This should apply to Israeli journalists as well as foreign ones.
29. Israel "fights" with both hands tied behind her back.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.21.11)
The reason Israel isn't winning the propaganda war is the same reason Israel is till tormented by terrorist gangs; though we've destroyed multiple regular Arab armies on many occasions. Israel "fights" both the war on terrorists and the propaganda war with both hands tied behind our back. For instance, nothing would be simpler than serving the U.N., all world governments and media with incontrovertible legal proof that Judea and Samaria are ours. Yet our leaders refuse to do so. Instead we keep pretending we want to cede our more than 3,500 year old ancestral heartland to our mortal enemies. It's total madness.
30. 22 Yehoshua Might denouncing...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.21.11)
them by public opinion polls be a good idea?
